I was obsessed with the original Tom Green show when I was a kid. My favorite segment he did was when he was looking to buy a house from an Indian couple and started throwing their patio furniture off the balcony. The man is a pioneer and a comedic legend!

Not really they were pretty different and MTV approached bam to do the show it wasn't his idea. Tom Green show was on MTV too. If MTV approached you with a shit tonne of money and say spend it how ever you want and make a show you'd do it. Listen to Bams interview on the nine club.

@@jossoid Nope they were the same. The paint your house bit they did exactly. Same with the car bits, and plenty of others. Some were actually copied frame by frame and shot the same way. Watch YMH he talks about how much they stole.

To be fair bam was making short videos and funny videos before the tom green show i belive with the stuff his dad use to film and cky which was nothing like Tom green, yes viva la bam and jackass had some of the same bits but i dont think bam literally saw tom green and copied him.. edit. I love tom green dont get me wrong in like him more than bam, I just saying he was filming skits since he was a kid and dont think he tried to copy tom, some of the bits were the same but filming everyday im pretty sure it would be hard to.come out with original content. Not making excuses for him though

I really appreciate how Bert isn’t afraid to ask questions that show peoples vulnerable side. He also lets people talk and tell their story. Great interview Machine. I’m from Ottawa and Tom is a hometown treasure. Such a humble guy.

i'll take it a whole step further.. without tom green there would have been no jackass. as a guy who was maybe 10-11 years old, give or take, when tom green hit mtv, I remember being totally inspired that here was a skater like me who just happened to get a local access show that ended up being a global phenomenon. he inspired everyone. many people would not have careers without tom green. rhyme syndicate for life!

Thats how I feel when every single podcast devolves into bert talking about his college years, it's sad when its a 35 year old dad from elementary school still talking about his college football days when he was 21 it's entirely a different level of sad when it's a guy who was in college for 5 years too long and his whole lifes accomplishment is how much he drank enough to where he has to bring it up every podcast. I'm 25 now and if anyone in my friend circles talked about college still half as much as Bert does it'd lose their number

I could always take or leave Tom Green. Bert, your interview was amazing, one of your best ever. Tom was able to be himself and the interview has a great flow. I am a Tom Green fan now and respect so many of the things he adopted early on that have now become essential to mainstream comedy. This is a testament to your talent Bert both as a great comedian and storyteller but also as an amazing interview host.

There was nothing known as a PodCast when Tom started web-o-vision. He was a pioneer. When he started, the internet was just getting commonly called the "web". A forgotten part of internet history is before that "web" name taking hold it was almost as common to call the internet the "void". At the time people were still looking for a way to describe it.
