At-home chemical peels can save you money & really reverse some of the affects of aging. In this video I share with you the absolute best recommendations for starter chemical peels at home. I have used these ones and this company, and I trust them and I've seen real results. Please see safety disclaimer below - and whatever you do is at your own risk - be safe! Also, the website always has a coupon code on it for 20% off - the code for years has been "twenty" without the quotation marks. I just noticed in my email inbox that if you sign up for their newsletter, they also regularly send out emails with 33% off coupons. I never saw that until today!

*Update: New Glycolic Acid Peel Recommendation at 30%: amzn.to/2YYWGfM Oz Naturals Glycolic 30% (I am recommending this one over the MakeupArtistsChoice one because I just noticed the other one contains parabens. Most people are ok with parabens but I try to avoid them.)
Adjustable (you can dilute) Glycolic Peel: www.makeupartistschoice.com/7...
*Update: If you are new to peels and want to start out lower, this is another great option: 10% Glycolic Pads: amzn.to/31KV06y. It has high ratings and many reviewers state that they are fine using it, even with sensitive skin. I haven't used it yet but will shortly so I can share more about it with you guys.
Radiance Peel: www.makeupartistschoice.com/M...
Gly-Luronic Serum: www.makeupartistschoice.com/G...
Mandelic Acid Toner: www.makeupartistschoice.com/M...
*Update: I am no longer using this regularly, though I do use it occasionally. My skin is now a bit more sensitive to the alcohol content and my skin gets too dry. My kid, who has oily skin, loves it though. So, I am now using The Ordinary's Glycolic toner instead (only a few x a week) and on other days I use Witch Hazel.

I found your channel last night and am really enjoying your content. I have been watching Penn Smith for sometime now and am trying to figure out how to move forward with microneedling, specifically which Dr. Pen to order. But after watching this video I think I'm going to start with the pumpkin exfoliating mask and radiance peel. Thank you for this! I have had one peel done by my naturopath a few months ago and liked it but it cost me $150. I look forward to trying this small steps at home.

Melissa, thank you so much for the nice comment. I haven't watched Penny in a little bit, but I miss her content. She has a lot of it and it is helpful. I think you are making a great choice by starting out with some at-home peels. They are safe and can save you some money as well. Those two peels you mentioned are amazing. :) I still love those ones but I now mostly have been buying peels from Platinum Skincare (I did a recent TCA peel video and used their product and have been hooked ever since). If you want to eventually move up from those two products you are about to try, then I would recommend a lower strength glycolic. I really hope they help your skin. :)

I plan to try the pumpkin mask and radiance peel for a little while and then will definitely order the lower strength glycolic peels. Can I ask you if you are still doing microneedling with your Dr. Pen as well as TCA peels? And if so, how often do you use each? I've been wanting to purchase a Dr. Pen for some time now but not sure if it's a bad idea to try both. Thank you again.

I've been intrigued about doing a chemical peel at home and because of this video, I think I'm ready to try it on my own (I received my first chemical peel about 4 months ago by an Esthitician). Anyways, I want to purchase the peel now, but I also want to know what advice and/or products you'd recommend for follow up care. Like what should I put on after the peel, throughout the week, etc.
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sarai! Thanks for the comment. That's great you got a peel done by an esthetitian already. What kind of peel was done? The after care kind of varies depending on the peel. If you ever have issues with sunspots or hyperpigmentation, then it is a good idea to buy something for that. The one I use is the Alpha Arbutin by the Ordinary and I try to use it a bit before and after doing peels. Lately I've just been using it regularly to help prevent sunspots and it's worked so far, even after I recently did a harsh TCA peel. Besides that, sunscreen is super important. For people with dry skin, Cotz sunscreen sensitive is really great and a high SPF. Besides that, I really recommend any products by the Ordinary. They have a really great product called the Buffet and it has some incredible ingredients - great to use after exfoliating with a peel. I also love their lotion with hyaluronic acid in it - really great facial lotion. I would just mostly stay hydrated and be careful of the sun! I hope it goes well! You are beautiful!

Hi Claudia - sorry for not replying sooner. I missed this comment. Have you tried the NR supplement yet? If so, I really hope it helps. Also, have you heard of Dr. Rhonda Patrick on youtube? She really recommends making broccoli sprouts at home - for longevity, anti aging, health overall, cancer prevention, etc. I am making my first batch now - and it will be done in a few days. I figured you might know about them or have had them, etc. as you are super healthy! Also, that is great about glowbiotics - I have not heard of that before and I will try to check it out. I just purchased several MUAC products, including the 30% glycolic acid peel. Is this safe to do around the eyes and neck? I feel like I’ve seen you put it around your eyes in some of your videos, but I can’t remember if I’ve seen you apply to your neck (just don’t want it to have the opposite intended effect since the neck skin is more thin). Also, I try to use tretinoin a few nights a week. How do I stagger glycolic acid peels/products with tret? I want to incorporate glycolic acid into my routine along with the peels. Thank you for all of your helpful videos!
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 6 ай бұрын
Thank you! :) I always do the peels around my eyes, since that's an area I really want to work on and improve. You just have to be very careful! When it comes to using tretinoin and peels, you also need to be careful and probably do a patch test. It all depends on how sensitive your skin is, and how strong the peel is (even how low the pH of the peel is) + how strong the tretinoin is. If you patch test a small area on your face and it burns really badly, I'd wash it off immediately. I'd then wait a few more days for the skin to normalize. Some people need to use lower strength peels when using tretinoin.

Good afternoon. I just purchased their Muac PhytX Peel. Have you tried it? Did you like it? I bought it and a 12.5 TCA peel. I thought maybe since I’ve never had a peel done, the Phytx might be a good starting one. I’m 44. I don’t think I have sensitive skin but you never know. I also bought their Vitamin C 20% serum along with the green tea pomegranate cleanser and toner. I’ve been watching tons of videos on peels and I love that I found this video. Makes me feel better taking the leap. Lol What are your opinions of each of the peels I’ve mentioned? Thank you in advance. 🙏🏼
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Misty! The Phytx is a great peel if you are new to doing peels! I think it is safe and mild enough, but still effective. I have done it a few times. It is supposed to help with pigmentation issues and other things. I think they have a lot of great products. I also love the products from Platinum Skincare. I have an updated peel recommendation video here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g8uCd8yfkrvUY30.html and I actually did a demo and review of the Phytx peel here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rMuHisaS1bfSnYU.html and I did a really comprehensive video on the entire process of what happens when you do a TCA peel, here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l6-Im8Zyp6eUZWg.html. Sorry for all the links, but I hope they help! I haven't used the Phytic acid peel in so long. But, I still think it is a really good one to use if new to peels. I also think regular glycolic peels can be amazing too as you work your way up. I was reading a study yesterday that said a higher strength glycolic peel has similar/comparable results to doing a TCA peel. So, that is great to keep in mind too. :) I really hope you like your peels! I hope I answered some of your questions. I want to do a video on peels again soon!

Hi Jessie! For microneedling, I usually do it every six weeks, though some people do it every 4 weeks. I usually wait a bit longer. Lately I do glycolic peels a little bit less often, sometimes once a month (not near the time of needling). May, sorry I just realized I didn't answer the other part of your question. If you are totally new to peels, the ones I recommend in this video, I still recommend (ie: Pumpkin enzyme peel, radiance peel). Otherwise I also have a few other new recommendations from the Ordinary. Their Glycolic toner is 7% glycolic - which is equivalent to doing a mild glycolic peel. This would be ideal for a beginner. They also have a 10% lactic acid peel, which is really great for someone new to peels as well - very well tolerated. Otherwise anything between 10-20% glycolic acid would be great to start with - then 30%, etc. :)

I'm not sure how much peels can help with scarring - maybe to some extent. But, dermarolling or microneedling can definitely help with scarring. The microneedling pen is about $150 and it is pricey but it is also worth it. :) But, derma rolling is a great place to start though and can also help give results.

So what peel would you suggest for a beginner to at home peels but has gotten 1 from a professional?
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Bobbi! I would recommend the MakeupArtistsChoice pumpkin enzyme peel or their radiance peel. Besides that, you could also always start with trying a lower strength glycolic peel (20% is a good starter, though some people with sensitive skin start at 10%). Besides that, some people (with no peeling experience) have also been ok using the Ordinary's AHA/BHA peel. That peel is my ultimate, absolute favorite. If new to peels though, it would be best to patch test it. Then, just leave it on for only a minute to see how your skin reacts and if fine, you can leave it on a few minutes (10 minutes max). :)That peel is incredible.

Hey Candice! That's good you have some peeling experience! If new to doing it at home, most places will recommend the lowest percentage first. But, it's up to you! I think the Glycolic 30% (the lowest from MakeupArtistsChoice - though it is not weak at all) would be a great place to start. Though, I have a total favorite peel now that is good for experienced peelers and those fairly new to peels (though not the best if you have super sensitive skin - spot testing is important) and it is the Ordinary's AHA+BHA peel. It is incredible. It's my favorite peel so far. If totally new, it's a good idea to leave it on only a minute to see how your skin handles it and if fine, longer is fine up to 10 mins. I did a video on this as well. I hope this helps!

I want to try but I’m a Retin A user☹️ it’s a lil scary 💔
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 4 жыл бұрын
That is understandable. :) It's so hard when using Retin A and trying to also do peels. I did a little test in using Retin A (though I am not a longterm user) and I do have the issue with my skin peeling like crazy anytime I use it (I only have the high strength prescription one). Well, I decided to use Retin A for a week or two and also I did one specific peel as well in between - which was the Ordinary's AHA BHA peel. I wanted to try this because that peel made my skin so moisturized, I thought I might be able to use Retin A afterwards. So, I did the peel and then the next day or two used Retin A - day after day for about a week, maybe a little more. My skin handled it fine and I wasn't peeling like crazy like I normally do until about a week, and it started to get pretty dry. Then after that I did the peel again. It's not good to overly exfoliate like I was doing. I just found so many positive benefits from the AHA BHA peel (I did a video on it) that I thought it might help my skin out enough to be able to use Retin A as well. Anyway, just be careful if you try using them both. Hopefully space some days out if you can and don't do them one after the other. I hope it works out! Peels are incredible!

How many times should you use a chemical peel in a month?

Irene, great question. It depends on so many things. Some people do them weekly and others every other week is pretty standard. If it's a milder peel (like the radiance peel) that can be done once or twice a week but for me I haven't really dont them more than 1x weekly and if I want a refresher I will use the glyuronic serum, which is like a mini peel or the pumpkin one. :)

I bought the 70% customizable peel and the instructions are so vague/ lacking of detail.

Was the peel from Platinum Skincare or MUAC?

Those were my actual real results from using the specific products I mentioned, for years. I really don't like MUAC's TCA peels at all - finally realized they do not work well. I still like the products I mentioned here, but now buy from Platinum Skincare. What a rude comment.
