Just FYI the 25” dual blade Greenworks has plastic gears in the gear box between blades, if you hit a root it can shatter the gears (happened to me) and greenworks doesn’t sell replacements parts for it (not very green) the only option is a complete unit replacement

It was the ground speed that made me want to try it. All other self propel electric mowers seem to top out at 2.5ish MPH while the Milwaukee was claiming speeds above 4MPH.

I bought an Ego with a 10ah battery, and it's great, I do my entire lawn, generally still have 2 or 3 bars left. Literally the only thing I hate is the lag in the self drive system. Why do seemingly all electric mowers suffer from that? A Tesla is literally known for its instant acceleration - that's one of the benefits of using electric anything. So why in the world is there such lag? For those that don't know, it's not like a momentary lag, like people being picky, it's literally like 2 seconds - so if you are constantly going on and off the self drive, it really is annoying and makes you change how you use that. With that said, the reason it's livable, is that the mower is so light, you don't need to use the self drive as often. Still, it's remarkable that this is an issue with any mower, in particular the best out there.

I love using the battery powered mowers because I am partially disabled and can not push a mower very good in the grass. They are lighter and the best part while using the self propelled part is I rotate with three batteries one charging, one cooling and one mowing and I always get downtime to wait on the batteries. Takes me five charges to mow about 17000Sq ft because of the slight hill in my yard.

A Greenworks battery is 60V nominal (no load), 56V under load. The Echo appears to be a Greenworks Pro with one less cell per battery: 56V nominal, 50.4V under load. How do know that this? Because on Echo's site they rate their 5AH battery's energy capacity at 252 watt-hours. 252 / 5 = 50.4.

Milwaukee might meet its match in Greenworks Commercial's latest 82-volt 21-inch mower, which sports a 2.3-kiliwatt motor. Most consumer 21s use a 1.3- or 1.5-kW motor. And the Greenworks can hold two 80-amp-hour batteries, giving it an incredible 1176 watt-hours of energy between battery changes (73.5V x 2 x 8). That's more than twice the capacity of my Greenworks Pro 21 Gen. 2 (56 x 2 x 5, or 540 watt-hours).

@@breakfastclub3909 I know the older gen Kobalt OPE was made by greenworks, but I've yet to find any definite statement that the newer gen4 stuff is. There is some conflicting information posted out there, and everything definitive is about their older gen3 and before ope and their 24v power tools. I say this because I know Chervon makes their 24v tools, has Chervon also been making their 24v ope line up? The newer gen4 stuff, while it uses the same battery format as the older, is a pretty different design on everything, and the plastic used is of a totally different composition then before. It matches the plastic used on their 24v ope and 24v power tools almost perfectly. The 40v batteries themselves, of course still are the same form factor and fit in the same slots, but again the composition of the plastic is totally different then before and apparently the newer cells used are better. Is Chervon actually making their 40v ope line up now I wonder? Both greenworks and chervon are industry leaders and totally capable of making good quality equipment so it doesn't really matter either way, I'm just really curious to actually find out who is behind the current gen stuff.

(Location GA:/grass type: Bermuda approx 66oo sq. ft.) I bought the EGO 2130SP in Feb 2021, while I want to give it 5-Star rating (works great when it works). But EGO is getting 1-star from me. I've had a random problem of it not starting (in driveway) or stopping/stalling during a cut (and I'm not cutting overgrown grass here). It's not a battery issue, the battery works fine in the String Trimmer. Also, I can't simulate it at will. In Mar of 2022 I turn it over to an authorized dealer. They had it for 3 weeks and told me they could not find anything wrong with it (Note: it was returned to me very filthy, both mower and charger). Well, the same problem happened again at the end of the cutting season (yes, it ran all summer long in 90-degree heat). At the beginning of this season (2023) it did it again after 2 complete cuts. In APR/May it happened again these past 2 times I called EGO. I let them know I reported this same problem in the past, went through their scripted troubleshooting guide and it worked fine while they were on the phone. Hung up with them and guess what? It stalled again and would not start about 20 minutes into my cut, I finished with my gas mower. The following week it would NOT start again. Before calling EGO, I went through all the steps I from the previous week and it would NOT start on the driveway. I called EGO and of course, it works. This time I was able to finish my lawn (Bermuda, approx. 6600 sq. ft. Here 's my problem, I'm not calling EGO for no reason. It's under full warranty and there is something wrong with my mower. And I can guarantee it's not the typical wiring or relays found on youtube vids. As I said, this happen to me in 2022 and I waited to double triple check to be sure it was not some silly operator error. 1) Charge battery (all green lights) 2) slide into slot (be sure it clicks in place) 3) fully push start button and pull bail switch. The light on the handle shows solid "orange light" while battery lights are fully green. The mower nor the battery is hot and I'm not even in the grass at times when it shuts down or simply does not start. There is no way it's a load issue and be acceptable as working under normal conditions. I follow the 1/3 rule of cutting. I've replayed this info to the EGO reps several times. This should be more than enough info to turn it in. Yet, I can't get them to authorize a real tech to figure out the issue or simply replace it. But then what...I'm out of a mower I paid $600+ for another three weeks possibly. It's a good thing I held on to my 15 yr. old gas mower. WTF!!!

I am sort of curious why the Ego always seems to win these reviews and comparisons? I’ve tried out 3 different Ego’s in the last 5 years. I’ve also tried the Black and Decker 40v, The 2021 top of the line Ryobi, the 2021 Greenworks 80v, and the Toro Recycler electric. I have a normal KBG and Fescue 3500 sq ft lawn and all of the Ego’s gave me the worst cut quality. They all were terrible at mulching unless I lower the deck down to way lower than I want to mow. They also seemed to be too light weight and bounced around a lot and caused an uneven cut and the seemed to lay down the lawn instead of cutting it. So far (as far as it quality and mulching at 4 inches goes, the Toro (which I’m using now) does the best of all I’ve tried. The Toro does have the heaviest blade which maybe accounts for its superior suction for mulching. I haven’t used it for bagging so I don’t know how well it does with that.

My favorite thing about the Milwaukee mower is the thumb control, and that you can drive it without the blades engaged. I don't know how that is with other battery-powered mowers. I hear ya... but... I have been using an electric mower and trimmer for about 9 years now. So, no gas issues, no oil changes, flip the mower over and just clean underneath simplicity, don't fill up in the middle of a cut just switch the battery. If you haven't switched, you are missing out. Oh ya... still using the original batteries too! The downside - my old battery mower is not a really good cutter. So if the grass is a little long or thick, then I change the width of my cut. My lawnmower is 19", so for thin grass, I will use roughly the whole width. A little thicker, probably 2/3 of the deck. Thick grass, probably 1/2 the deck. That said though, over the course of 9 years of cutting grass of various lengths, it has only stopped working maybe twice due to the difficulty of the grass. I cannot say the same for grass cutting with a gas mower. I will never go back to a gas mower. In fact, the only reason I am here is that I am finally looking to upgrade my old 40v Greenworks mower and trimmer to a newer 80v version. You keep doing your oil changes and running to the gas station for fuel... not me!

If you buy the lm2167sp Ego will not replace it if it DOA like mine was or has failed. They will instead give you the lm2156sp kit plus get to keep the 12 ah battery or a refund. So be wary of buying the lm2167sp.

I have the milwakee and in my opion the others dont compare. It will automatically increase the blade speed if needed and mine rarly does. The battery life is insane. The lights are very bright and the side shooters are very handy. The lights have came in use many times for me. The power is crazy you really can fire it up in tall grass it just doesnt care.

Milwaukee excels at providing high torque for a given voltage. Its 18v 16-inch chainsaw has more torque than most 36/40V chainsaws...though at cost in rpm. I can't imagine what the Milwaukee's 10 foot-pounds of torque must feel like. Well, I can, because I used to mow with an Ariens 21-inch whose 4-cycle Robin engine was rated at 9.4 or 9.6 foot-pounds. And I seldom recalled hearing it struggle.

I have really thick St. Augustine grass. 10,000 square feet. I mow highest (4-5") setting once a week. With a gas self-propelled, it takes 1 hour, 30 minutes to mow cleanly. What mower is going to last that long with one set of batteries cutting that type of grass?

A mower with a runtime of 45-60 minutes is *not* a commercial mower, expected to be available all day long. You'd really have to have plenty of recharge time between jobs. I want the Milwaukee for my home, but likely would not spend the additional $500 for a spare set of 12 aH batteries. (Hopefully a landscaper would.) The rest of these have similar kinds of "backup" costs, too.

A composite mower should be an automatic "no", unless you have a perfectly smooth lawn with level edges and no bumps. I was really satisfied with my Ryobi until I checked the blades and found that they had gouged the insed of the mower deck and actually cut through the front of the inside deck. Ryobi refused to do anything about this and said I was obviously abusing the mower. (Note 78 year old man with limited mobility because of an accident 10 years ago)

Why can't any lawn mower maker make a 30" wide battery lawn mower like the Timemaster except with pneumatic tires on the rear and swivels on the front? Heck, 12" on the rear and 10" on the front wheels would work great. Then, add a 3.5" height selection and a 1gal tank and it would be great.

@@Protoolreviews Unfortunately the write up isn't a hands on review and height of cut is wrong. It's 0.79 inches (approximately) - 4 inches or 20mm - 100mm not 1.25 inches - 4 inches. There is also 2 versions. 19 inch and 21 inch. It's a shame Makita declined to participate. I have the 19 inch Makita XGT 40v MAX. It's a superb mower. I have cut 2 -3 foot tall kikuyu in 1 pass with no bogging/stalling.

would like to see some weighted score. U picked EGO, but it is the most expensive-why? Toro rated very high and comperable in other catagories. I have a Toro. It is great and the battery also can be used with the snowblower; Toro knows mowers and snowblowers. I will take them any day. I own Milwaukee lawn and hand tools also. They are the best also.
