After one year of riding my Triumph Tiger 800, I thought it was about time to do a review. With so many bikes to choose from in the ADV market, I think this one is overlooked far too often. Check out why I think this may be one of the best budget ADV bikes on the used market. I'll also show you a few of the must-have accessories for your ADV bike.

Liked the video and going to look at the heat engine bars. I've had an FJR1300 for a long time which I still love. However last year I got myself a Tiger 800xca which really puts a smile on my face 🤣

Hi and thanks for the video. It is almost like looking at my bike! 2014 model also in white, but with a beak. I also put Heed bars on it as well as Barkbusters. The screen is not good enough even with a extender on top, I get a lot of buffeting at highway speeds - to be changed. I fitted a custom GPS bar to put my quadlock on, which I agree is amazing. The panniers are a pain, but you can buy inner bags which help to keep your stuff organised and easier to put in. I also fitted a centre stand from Moteo which makes a difference for chain maintenance, but can be tricky to use unless you get the technique right. I don't think the heated grips are that good, so in winter I put on muffs which are brilliant and I can still use the heated grips and ride with summer gloves! You are right in saying that it is a great value all round bike with plenty of power and manoeuvrability, although the turning circle is a bit too big. It is still not a light machine and I find it top heavy with a full petrol tank, which can catch you out if you are not paying attention! Great for two up touring and yes the seats can be a pain in the derrier! Still a great bike that is worth the money. Cheers and Ride Safe.
@AmericanAbroad1
@AmericanAbroad1 2 жыл бұрын
Hahahah “derrier” love that. Made me laugh this morning. Yeah I have the same issue with buffeting. Honestly HEED make the best look crash bars for this bike hands down and it’s affordable. Yeah, it’s definitely an imperfect bike leaving much to be desired, but also you get a lot for the money. Thanks for the comment.

Looks like you are as crazy as I am about this bike! I've got the exact same bike, only with SW-Motech crash bars. I also bought the GIVI Dolomiti aluminium side paniers (35 liters each) and top box, they look great and really well designed. I also replaced the original Triumph windscreen (too small) by a Puig model - much better now. A few other additions: a foldable gear pedal (won't break or be twisted if you drop the bike) and a front fender extender - the original Triumph fender on the roadie version is really too short.

Yes it’s a great bike! I have the tall triumph screen and it’s still to low. I need a bigger screen, but I may be getting a new bike in the next few days:) I rode the 2021 Tiger 1200. Man what a bike.

Great review. Thanks for mentioning your height. Makes Wind buffet comment more informative. I am 5'9" so likely going to see less or no buffet. Again very helpful as I am specifically looking at triumph used bikes for next ride. Rest of comment is just my info and reasons for wanting better road bike. I need more road oriented bike now. Have a f700gs, don't laugh, it is a great ride for me. Off road on less technical routes it does great. But that is my opinion as some would laugh at that. On road at highway speed it vibrates so much it is unbearable after an hour. I like soft side bags as when off road they don't break and cushion the bike while still leaving me room to free down side leg if I am too slow. But for on road I want to use top load hard cases.
@AmericanAbroad1
@AmericanAbroad1 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Doesn’t matter what you ride, just that you ride! Yeah with the taller Triumph windscreen you will be totally fine. Yes highway is much better on the TT800. No head shake which really bothers me on bikes as it gives you an uneasy feeling. If you can afford it I definitely like 1200’s. I am on a r1250gs now and man what an upgrade. Happy hunting

I was using the scorpion trail II Great tires. I hear many people go up to a 110 on the front and gives more stability. On my new GS I’m using Bridgestone and I’m excited to try them. The scorpions were a great tire really enjoyed them. I think if I kept the bike longer I would have also gone up to a 110 on front.

Yes, I ride with my wife often. I have the Triumph comfort pillion seat and she says it’s quite comfortable. Nice handles for her to hold on to that feel really stable. If she rode on a longer ride I may look at drop down pegs to let her stretch her legs a bit.

Hi Sanel, I have been riding for many years and I would say the Tiger 800 is a great entry bike. Plenty of power and not as heavy as a 1200. Handles great and feels like a much smaller bike, but still feels substantial. Mine only had 21k on it but 51k is not bad at all. You won’t be disappointed. Is this your first bike ever?
