Best Mods for Age of Mythology?

With the announcement for age of mythology retold coming in 2024, new and returning players will want to check out the current game but the original UI isn’t great. But there is some options to fix this. Here we go through the mods I use in the original game and extended edition.

Ippert is the man... If you didn't know with Ippert's Advanced Tooltips comes Ippert's Complete Encyclopedia. He literally went through AoM with a fine toothed comb and wrote out literally everything one could think of. It's hidden in the download folder of the mod iirc.

I'm pretty sure that EE lets you see the number of villagers gathering res w/o mods, and I remember being pretty confused as to why so many mods were making a big deal about a feature that was already in the game when I was browsing earlier this week. I also like to use "Menu Background Collection Rotation" so that I can have a more exciting background than the TotD fog, as well as the visual Myth and Human upgrade packs. One other thing to note is that the Buy and Sell buttons for the Ekanta UI also disable fog of war in singleplayer campaign missions. Anyways, rebinding auto-queue right now. Good suggestions!

Interesting, honestly never thought about this, I have seen some mods, but have never decided to use them. These look like they would be helpful.

I play EE, so most of this stuff is already there for me. My personal most important mod: Purple Player One. I just prefer purple over blue.

Maybe I should have covered that too. I play mostly the original, but I might have to download that one. I go in the editor for these videos to change the player one colour!

My fave hotkeys which are staple are Space bar - idle vills Tab for idle military (it’s close to my control group numbers at the top row so makes it easier adding idle military to groups) Q - auto queue Z - exit/ungarrison (close to the alt key for quick Garrison) Everything else is standard I think!

Those were the other hotkeys I thought of covering. Idles, TCs, the main unit for each building (I use Q) and autoqueue are the most important imo.

@@mooseaom is there a key you can bind to train the main unit for each building? I didn’t know that I usually just click them apart from V for villager in the TC. Is there a mod that shows you your number of donkey/camel caravans?

@@jyt2394 you need to change them for each building but I have each main unit from all buildings set to Q. So villagers, Hippikon, chariot archers etc. are all Q. Then the second most used is W. I don’t know of a mod for caravan numbers, but would definitely be useful

Hi! What's a good mod for AI? I want to play gravy 12 AI games, but seems like most of the bots are broken after a few minutes.

Nottud superpack has the amount of villagers on each resource personally I prefer the original UI as it adds more character into the game than a bland transparent UI but thats just a preference

True. Original is way more beautiful (except when forced widescreen, which makes everything stretched to oblivion).

If you’re on EE it should work once you’ve subscribed to the mod. For the original game you need to save it in the folders, can’t remember exactly where as it’s been a while

Do you usually play Voobly or EE? In your videos, I'm not sure if the content is for EE or not!

The UI changes were for both, the carry mod was original only. I did try and state which version when I could as it can be confusing! For my tips I play voobly but try to make most of them relevant for EE too.
