No need for a $10,000 dream build. I'd rather have several $1000 - $2000 bikes so that my friends, or my kids, or kids friends could all ride together. Spread the mountain biking community!!

Truth be told the more expensive it is, the less likely it is that I have fun with it. Because I would baby it more than anything

When I was a kid we would find different bits of bikes at the local dump. No one ever weighed any thing, we definitely had more fun than you!!❤

Clear to see this young man Jake is destined for great things! Also good to see that he seems to be a grounded humble person. With his sublime talent on show at Crankworks I rekon he will soon be a Red Bull favourite!

Squid is really worth a lot in those parts huh? Enough squid and you can get any fancy bike part you want

Just refurbed a 2012 Scott Scale 50 for my partner, very happy with the end result, I’ve not gone for a single ring up front as the gear set was in good condition and worked flawlessly but as she uses it more I may just have to have another look in to it

Dream builds are exciting, but it’s process of selecting parts for you mtb . Once you’ve received them you have install the parts . Then the juices start to flow to thrash the the trail , but most of us takes weeks or months to build 😂

That Scott Scale 50 is from 2007,I had it way back then. Sold after a few months and bought a Scale 40.

Find used on FB marketplace or offer up. I picked up a 2021 giant stance 1 for 650$ with aftermarket parts. Giants website lowered the price from 1800$ to 1,000$ off the stance so people have no leverage on resale value. After new tires and dialing it in the bike is solid. And I’m only 700$ into a decent enough mtb that someone spent over 2k$ for

#Askgmbntech Is it a good idea to buy a different suspension for your bike? With different I mean either different brands, or models. Manufacturers spend quite a lot of money for the tuning of their forks and shocks. Wouldn't another kind of suspension mess the bike kinematic up? For example: Installing a fox performance from a more "enduro-ish" bike vs. a fox factory from a "xc-ish" bike. Same goes for completely new suspension.

I’ve performed this bleed on my older style sram guide R brakes.. The brakes were spongy when I got the bike and after trying to bleed them three times now they are still spongy. Is it just a bad brake system or do you think my brake housings are stretching?

I had a manitou mcloud rear shock on a 2008 giant reign and thought it was the best rear shock I ever had by far, super supple but their forks were 💩 what did everyone think of their mezzer forks.

Some of these builds are not really representative of what the average new rider could achieve. With the amount of parts already owned and calling them free and parts bagged from shops, we haven't all got local shops that give away parts and sell £120 saddles for £15. It's good to see what combination of parts work well together though.

#askgmbntech Hello, since you guys have so much experience with Nukeproof, i'm hoping to get some advice on sizing. I'm 1.79m and the sizing chart in the website says M is up to 1.78 and L starts from 1.78. What should i pick? Im gonna get a Scout 290 frame to custom build up one myself. Thanx in advance!

I've noticed that the likes of Deore and SLX are never recommended, it's always XT or XTR. Even when it's a supposedly budget friendly build. Seems that you guys are just an out of touch advert. Like with those Atherton bikes being "affordable"

Cheap bike build and ride challenge? With how cheap second hand bikes and parts are, you guys could buy cheap bikes. Mod/upgrade for under £400 ISH in total? Prove old bikes can still be kept running for at least a few more years.
