Ae dil mujhe aisi jagah le chal....I loved this song when I was a 9yr old kid, though I didn't understood the lyrics at that time but still my father narrated each line and explained the meaning of that particular line by establishing a perfect scenario for a better understanding........(I'm 18 now but still I figured out way earlier that why old people don't like our generation songs)

I am Narahari from Madras (Chennai). I am deeply involved/immersed in Hindi songs since 1948 starting with Barsaat. Even much earlier too I was fascinated with songs from Dard and so on so forth! But my affliction win Hindi music/songs will never die Unfortunately my affliction wtth Hindi will never die down! For the past one hour plus I am am giued to Talat music without understanding its meaning. I prefer to breath my last listening to Talat with Naushad music!

I got introduced to Talat Mehmood's songs in my college thru a friend. From then on, I am just addicted to his songs. I don't understand Hindi or Urdu. But his voice has a magical power that just mesmerizes. Genius singer. Many times I draw parallel to PB Srinivas, one of an amazing singer in the south. God bless

I don't know why, but Talat Mahmood remains my best favourite, in spite of my liking for other all time greats like Rafi, Lata, Manna Dey, Kishore, Asha, Mukesh.

In the yore days Thalat's songs especially Jalte he jiskeliye was the heart throb of college campus gatherings. Young boys and girls wud cluster around young singers after classes. Cultural Programs definitely included Orchestra. This song and Rafi's Duniya ke Raghuwale were with great appeal. Only few specialists cud sing these songs and they were heroes And still these songs wud take you to higher mood levels

I started listening/understanding songs since 70s. Till date few of the most touching and close to my heart which I still enjoy listening any hour any time songs are mostly sung by this great legend. I am from Dhaka. Mr. Talat Mahmood was my mother's favourite singer. Once I saw interview of Sonu Nigam where he mentioned only silky voice of India. It's true when I am going through the comments of many senior citizens. But we must admit that India was blessed with so many top class composers and lyricist in that era.

Forty years back we two families went around south India on an LTC tour. Our driver would drive our van throughout the night, with the cassette player playing old songs of Mukesh and Talat. The dark nights, the deserted roads without street lights and these songs still evoke in me the strange forlorn feeling of having lost something. Ever since I have been in search of that.... चालीस साल पहले पिताजी, उनके मित्र और दोनों परिवार वालों ने पूरे दक्षिण भारत की LTC से यात्रा की। हमारा ड्राइवर रात भर वैन चलाता। गाड़ी में कैसेट प्लेयर पर मुकेश और तलत के गाने बजते रहते। अंधेरी रात, सुनसान रास्ते। आज याद करता हूं तो लगता है जाने क्या खो बैठे, जिसकी तलाश में आज भी कभी कभी बैचैनी होती है.....
