Video made from 16mm archival film highlighting the Bethlehem PA Fire Dept. in the 1950's. The film was professionally enhanced to HD. Included are firehouses, fire engines, station work and training. They even captured a house fire on the south side approximately near E. 3rd & Hayes.

Thank you for the memories, riding tailboard, no air packs or radios, the Pull motor resuscitator on the ambulance. Seeing the Bangor ladder with the tormentor poles that we all hated. Was it so long ago, am I that old? Back then, most of us were volunteers and the fire service was not our "day job". When the siren on the station sang out, we dropped what we were doing and we came running to answer the call and come to the aid of our neighbors.

Ohno! Hydraulics class! Ugh! Great video. Thanks for posting. I could watch this stuff for hours. Doesn't matter what city it's from, it's all fun to watch. And thank you to all these firefighters from days gone by, thank you for your service!

Wow, Thank you so much for posting and sharing. This is very rich history and what video is all about. Capturing the moments that no longer exist. Thanks so much for the further information provided of the station locations. Amazing to see on google maps of what stations still stand and don't. Amazing video overall of everything captured. Very rare to see all that was caught for that time. Thanks again. . .

ALF JOX mid-mount aerial. Was ahead of its time. WW 2 war effort interfered with development of this apparatus.

How many stations did the city have at one time?...were they all paid?

A lot more. The city I guess had volunteers still on the books at the time, but they were all gone soon after this video was made.

The ladder drills sure look scary. I would not do this today. What was the use for the church climb? 12:00 (up one side and down the other) Did you notice the ladder move when the 2nd line was charged? 15:05 No gear working off the roof! 21:05
