Rewatching season 2 is like a reminder that… No matter how much Chuck is right about Jimmy and no matter how evil Saul had become, Chuck is still a terrible brother to Jimmy and things could have turned very differently if Chuck treated Jimmy with an ounce of respect he gave Kim and Howard. “In the end, you will hurt everyone around you.” “Stop apologizing and accept it, embrace it.” Chuck hurt everyone around him without remorse (not only to Jimmy, look at what he did to Ernie and Howard). Jimmy became a worse person over time not because he became so different from Chuck but because he became more and more like Chuck.

After watching it again recently, the scene of Kim defending Jimmy against his brother in episode 9 has a lot of parallels to "Bad Choice Road" when Kim defends Jimmy against Lalo in the apartment. I just love how rich the old episodes become after the newer ones feed off of what the writers put in place in them. It's just great writing and storytelling.

I want to correct one inaccuracy, while I might agree S2E03 is C tier (though I tend to think it's at least B tier) it's important to note that Stacey being paranoid is not pointless, it's absolutely pivotal. At this stage Mike is on one path. One that minimizes his involvement in The Game. Stacey being paranoid about her neighborhood is what puts him back on Bad Choice Road. His strong sense of duty and remorse towards his son makes him feel honor bound to finance a better living arrangement for her and his granddaughter. That's the only reason he takes Nacho's job. This is what sets him on the path that literally ends up shaping the entirety of most of the major events cartel side because of his mere presence. Without this episode Mike likely never gets back into The Game and it changes the trajectory of the entire breaking bad universe. Personally I love that it's something outside The Game that pulls him back on to Bad Choice Road. It makes it all the more tragic.

I actually sort of miss Chuck (as a character) in a weird kind of way. Regardless of what I thought of him... being such a lousy brother, he was a very interesting character and really added a lot to the show.

I think episode 6 should get at least an A tear. That scene with Mike and Hector and the others is legendary, how he was able to get out of that situation and be totally left alone by them is trully amazing.

I love Mike and Pryce interacting.........its so ying and yang.

Slippin' Kimmy is a name that makes me happy

You don't like Mike's family's storyline? Her paranoia shows she's rattled by her husband's death, and it's what leads to her wanting a new home which is necessary for Mike to have the inciting incident that leads to his starting a life of crime, and specifically going after Tuco which led to Hector threatening Mike's granddaughter, which led to Mike seeking revenge against Hector, which led to Mike becoming involved with Gus, which is how Mike ended up where he was for the events of Breaking Bad, and ultimately Mike's death at the hands of Walter. So, her husband's death causing her paranoia and wanting to move to a different house is what set Mike off on all of the rest of the events that happened to him throughout the rest of Better Call Saul and all of Breaking Bad, so it's really important, story wise. Without it, Mike wouldn't have started his life of crime, and his entire arc would not have happened at all...

I feel like Mikes family gets “boring scenes” to show how they’re just normal citizens that have no idea about anything in the game. I think it’s supposed to show the contrast between their lives and Mike.

You're like the only BCS content creator I've seen that consistently puts out quality content. Keep doing what you do, you deserve to be way bigger.

The color thing is a good eye, Ological does a good job analyzing the show and his interpretation is often gold being unlawful and blue being lawful (Such as Jimmy wearing a blue suit with gold underneath)

For the most part, I agree: it's a very "B" tier season. Mostly set up for future seasons. Still needed as season 3 is one of the best seasons, but season 2 is a bit slow.

I haven't finished your ranking yet but I'm hoping you'll agree with me that Nailed is the best episode of the season.. Mike's subplot coming to a peak with him robbing a Salamanca truck, Chuck getting humiliated in court from Jimmy's "1216 scam," Chuck angrily confronting Jimmy with Kim present (all while wearing a space blanket which is a hilarious touch 🤣), Kim actually becoming Jimmy's enabler for the first time by siding with him despite knowing full well that Chuck's accusations are correct, and the cliffhanger ending where Chuck freaks out at the copy shop and passes out after banging his head on the counter... One of the best episodes of the series in my opinion 👍

I saw some of the theory about Saul in Breaking Bad here. Season 2 episode 1 and everything since then showed us that Jimmy and Kimmy alway got hot and had sex whenever they pulled a successful scam (or just planning a scam like 5x10 and 6x3. Sometimes just to blow off their steam because the pressure from the outside world like 4x2, 5x4 and 5x7). However, with the trip to Belize for Howie in the latest episode shows that the con went too far. This could affects their sex life, particularly Jimmy’s libido. He might become disgust in their relationship either because he feels like he ruined her or vice versa. That’s why he went impotent and needs to use a lot of viagra and bang prostitutes during Breaking Bad timeline (as shown in 6x1 cold open). If Kim didn’t die or use a vacuum guy or jail, maybe she was there in Breaking Bad, having a loveless, passionless marriage with Jimmy behind the scene the same way as Cheryl and Howard but more extreme then she was finally gone via the vacuum guy during Ozymandias when the DEA was hunting down Jimmy.

In defense of kim’s phone call montage, the song was appropriate for her circumstances (my way) and the visual symbolism of “exiting” HHM was clever.

These recaps are great. The tier/ranking thing is growing on me, but the recaps themselves are really well done.

I thought the part where their mother wakes up and calls for jimmy was harsh. I kinda hate chuck, but when I really think about it I get why he feels like he does and the fact that he really has no way to resolve it. It comes off as petty when he's mad that jimmy passed the bar after all the work he did but I get it.

I didn't hate Erin that much. Yes, she's annoying, but she was doing her job.

Had to stop midway and am now finishing. Stop me if you've heard this one before: I think you are misreading Howard and Chuck's motives with Mesa Verde. They aren't bitter towards Kim. They just don't want her stealing their client, who likely is worth 6-7 figures a year to the firm. And to be clear, MV is their client. Many law firms have non-complete clauses in their contracts that would prevent Kim from taking clients with them. I am assuming that is not the case here (clearly Chuck did not write the employment contracts). Nevertheless, there is no reason to read in a nefarious motive other than the obvious one. To take such an action out of spite would go against what Howard had just done by forgiving her student loans and wishing her well. At this point he has zero reason to be nice to her if he doesn't want to be.

2X10 for me is the moment I started to despise chuck. Chuck owes it to Jimmy to give him their mom's last words, sure Jimmy might've hated himself for not being there, but there's a chance it very much could've changed how he acted in the future. And the fact that he will never know it just proves how bad of a brother Chuck was to Jimmy.
