I feel that they showed that the guy is overworked, old, stressed, popping pills like tictacs not to mention constantly badgered by his wife. Both at home and on the job to the point where he just wants a moment of peace. Which results in the falling out with rosewood. And the same happens with Axel, when he first meets him he's overjoyed to see his old friend. Then when shit goes down he goes in to his stressed state. Which caused issues with Axel and the detective who's shown to rile him up beforehand.

Who's only purpose is to sit there, pout, and constantly bash the main character because "you weren't there for me, dad!" Getting real sick of this cliche'... almost always feels like a director's self insert fanfiction, rather than something we the audience can actually root behind.

@@handlebarsmustacheThe only film I can think of that did the whole "moody kid" trope right that actually worked, was in 'The Wrestler' from 2008. *(roll with me for a second...)* Sure, she was rude, whiney, and kind of a bitch to her father, but that film established beforehand how he was dead-focused on a profession that was literally killing him, being a pro wrestler who lived passed his prime. All for just a small glimmer of seeing his fans cheering him on. Which in a way, is no different than a drug addict trying to get their next high. Which is actually very heartbreaking to see unfold, as its happened to many real life wrestlers before. So in that sense, yeah, I can buy her being very avoidant of her dad, and Micky Rouke's character felt that way too. Not even wanting to face her due to his own personal guilt of failing as a father her whole life. That is true emotional weight that felt earned throughout the entire movie. The point Im trying to get at here, is the way they handled in 'The Wrestler', was both respectful but also logical in how their relationship turned out. Which in the end, elevated it rather than hampered the film. Movies now adays, especially "sequels" to long dead franchises, seem to only do it just for forced drama, when really there doesnt need to be. People just want to see their old action heroes on the big screen one last time while the actors who portrayed them are still alive, not so we can have some random, obnoxious teenage douchebag degrade their legacy just for *"muh emotional drama."* It feels so out of place and disrespectful to the character its built around. Idk, thats just my 2 cents on this new "trend" thats going on latley...

This movie definitely followed the Maverick formula. Make the character essentially the same but more mature, show that they've grown but still have that same fire, bring in new talent who can keep up with them and whom they can mentor. Have the other characters treat them with respect rather with scorn.

How would they know beforehand what the third one would be like? Or the fourth? Unless you try to make another film, there is no way of knowing... And there is no reason why we can't have more Beverly Hills Cop films. If the third one was amazing, you'd say it should be a trilogy. If the fourth one was amazing, you'd probably look forward to the fifth one. I don't mind more content. I enjoyed the fourth one and I'd be happy to have another one. I had a good time! The father/ daughter conflict, should have been played as if they had worked out most of their differences years before, but is a lingering problem that still pops up from time to time. If it was done like that, then all they would have needed is one two minute scene for the audience to catch up, and maybe a few passive aggressive quips between them, through the course of the movie. As for Bobby, it should have been said that she met him through Billy. Also, only through the daughter asking a Bobby for favor, as the reason for him to take on Axel’s case. In that way, everything would unfold and flow in a much more natural way, without coincidence.

Expectations: 1/10 Movie: 5/10, because the daughter story line did not work at all, yet took up most of the movie, totally unnecessary. Not much tension building either with the villain being predictable early on (and yes i know, the villains were always hiding in plain sight in 1&2, but cmon, do something unpredictable, change the scenery, stop being fucking boring and DARE to improve). Overall kinda sloppy writing, not re-watchable for me even if they released it later on for cinema.

Fact: Stream companies don't try to make 'good' movies anymore. Their business plans are for maximum views for advertisers and contract deals. So the goal isn't to make something good, it's to convince more people to view it. Even if only 10% of viewers finish the movie it doesn't matter, just get people to click on it. Cheaper movies, faster releases, more views, more money. Binging a series all day that sucks is worth way more that a 5/5 movie. So the incentive is for garbage.
@Wildeheart79
@Wildeheart79 3 күн бұрын

Blah blah blah. Many of the callbacks felt forced and unrewarding, and... did we even get to hear Eddie Murphy's iconic laugh at all? Sure he smiled but I can't recall that contagious laugh of his which I think could have gone a long way. I'd choose "meh" - somewhere between a thumbs up and a thumbs down. I enjoyed it. My expectations are low with any masculine movie or show as most just flip it on its head and destroy the old characters we love. This at least kept the focus on Axel and an overall detective comedy film without too much politics. Solid 7 for sure

Its not as good as 1 and 2, but its still really good. Its the first time in years i felt like i watched a movie that felt like a movie made in the late 80s early 90s. It gave me all kinda good feels. It was a really fun 2 hours and id totally watch it again in the future. Much better than 3 as well, so overall pretty happy honestly.

Mystery? We knew who the villain was in each previous movie the first time they appeared on screen lol Interesting tidbit about Trading Places: Eddie and Murphy and Dan Aykroyd were not the first choices for the movie. It was supposed to be Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor, but Richard Pryor's lifestyle and struggles derailed that. Although Trading Places is a classic, I cannot help but wonder what kind of film we would have gotten with Pryor and Wilder. Kindergarden Cop 2 is Dolph Lundgren and Bill Bellamy. Larry The Cable Guy did do a Jingle All The Way 2 though lol

At least Beverly Hills Cop 3 is still the worst Beverly Hills Cop film made. Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2 are still the best. But at least Beverly Hills Cop 4 did not take Beverly Hills Cop 3's mantle of being the worst.

About a decade ago, there was a pilot for a Beverly Hills Cop TV show on CBS. The show would’ve been about Axel Foley’s son, Aaron, played by Brandon T. Jackson. Judge Reinhold even makes a cameo as Rosewood, who is a Mayor now. The pilot wasn’t picked up, probably because it wasn’t very good, but there was one thing about it that EVERYONE loved: Eddie Murphy actually reprised his role as Axel Foley. In an interview, Murphy stated that his appearance in the pilot was what ironically doomed the show because everyone thought Axel would be a recurring character, when really it was just a one time thing. Murphy even added that test audiences were given knobs that they could turn to indicate whether or not they liked the pilot, and whenever Axel appeared on screen, some people turned the knobs so much that they BROKE! Judging by the pilot, Beverly Hills Cop doesn’t really work as a TV show (especially on CBS), but Jackson and Murphy had so much chemistry together that I really think it could’ve worked as a movie. You can watch their scenes together on KZfaq. It’s a shame because I really wished Brandon T. Jackson was in more things. A fifth Beverly Hills Cop movie is already in development, so maybe Jackson could be brought back to play Axel’s son. That would be cool.

Really nice to see AJ trying not to interrupt and monopolize the convo. Still pops up and needs work but hooooolllyyy was this an improvement. Keep this up so OJ and Alex can be more used to it and the flow will come. Tbh I noticed AJ getting talked over more this go around but still needs to be a give and take. Just cuz you started doesn’t mean you have to run to the finish without others chiming in. When he’s on a role he’s not only talking to the guys he’s talking at the camera so maybe work on that aspect as well. Regardless big props on this review from all the guys, really enjoyed.

I would LOVE a recap rewatch review of the Beverly Hills Cop III movie. Then say how good it actually was or not. I always liked the villains in the third movie, and the action scenes were pretty lit. The fact you couldn't tell the new guy Flint to join was on the good side or not was also a nice play.

I got bored of this movie halfway through and turned it off. The stuff that Axel does has gotten old. And I’m sick of another character who is a father constantly getting criticised for being a bad parent. Just for once I’d like to see a character have a good relationship with their children in movies and be a good parent. Yawn!
