@Abbie Hunter Sounds awful but I'm actually relieved for them that They've passed away because now their suffering & torment are finally over & They're with Leslie. God rest all their souls. But now poor Terry's the only one left dealing with it all. God bless Him. The Police should still be held accountable for their treatment of this Family & incompetence in this case & They never gave an apology that We know of either. This absolutely sickened Me. This is the first time I'd been brave enough to watch a documentary about what happened & it's sent Me livid

I really hope they didn't play the full tape to Ann and only enough to identify Lesley's voice that would be cruel and unecessary if they played the whole thing to her. That tape had hardened coppers in tears so I can only imagine Ann West's devastation and torture over it. You can see the effects on her here she looks vacant and it really aged her the poor woman was only 69 when she passed away I'm glad she got her wish that Myra Hindley was never released. Lord Longford had the nerve to say to Ann that unless she forgives Hindley she won't go to heaven!!! I hope if there is a hell he went there with Hindley how anyone could say that to a grieving mother is beyond cruel!

Just awful for the family to be subjected to this by the police. Police in those days weren't bound by the rules of today. Still, all too often the perpetrators of these sorts of crimes are close and known to the victims. Not in this case though and the police put them through a second and third hell. Their lives ever since were devastated in the true sense of the word. The mother in particular forever haunted by the thought of her daughter's suffering with images and recordings. To think of hindley being considered as being a reformed character towards the end of her life just shows how the psychopath can play tricks. Both should have been drawn and quartered publicly or burned alive. Fuckers!

Ann West was a REAL woman. She was a loving mother and she fought for justice for her child for her entire life. God rest her soul along with her daughter. She is spot on when she refers to them as monsters, because that's exactly what they both were. All these excuses that the female monster was reformed was complete nonsense. She wasn't forced into helping the male monster do anything, she chose to do that. It was a good thing that they both never got out and had to live with what they did for the rest of their pathetic lives. The world is a better place now both those monsters are dead.

Ian Bradey never wanted to be let out of prison. He was happy to be in there for the rest of his life. He had achieved his lifetime goal which he described as a recreational pursuit of raping, sexually assaulting, torturing and murdering children. And he accom one perfect murder in his mind the little boy whose body has never been found. In Ian Bradeys sick mind and worldview that murder was perfect. He never tried to get out of prison though. Myra on the other hand was determined to try to avoid prison by blaming everything on Ian and pretending she wasn't involved in his criminal actions. She could have gone to the police when he started telling her about his sick depraved fantasies, she could have gone to the police after the first murder but she didn't because she enjoyed it every bit as much as he did. All of her life she refused to accept any responsibility for what she had done? She constantly refused to accept any blame, responsibility or guilt for her actions. She constantly wrote to the victims families telling them lies and saying she wasn't involved. She refused to tell the police about the other victims or where the other bodies were until they were found. Ian Bradey also refused to speak about the other victims until I think he thought Myra had betrayed him by getting herself a girlfriend who was a female prison guard whilst she was in prison. She was worse than Ian Bradey in some ways much worse but they were also both as bad as each other. However without Myra Ian could never have kidnapped and harmed any children because they wouldn't have gone with him. He was socially awkward. Children wouldn't have trusted him. Myra lured the children for him which only adds to her evil. She took innocent children fully knowing what Ian and she herself were going to do to them. Such evil is incomprehensible to most people. Myra was pure evil. I don't know which one of them was worse but in some ways Myra was more evil than Ian.

One of the most heartbreaking documentaries I have ever watched and I am not embarrassed to say I cried a couple of times. It is the first time I have heard what really happened to that poor child; the torture and humiliation. It was very very hard to hear so God knows how it was for the poor mother. If I ever had doubts that there was evil in this world then those doubts have now been eradicated. After hearing this one cannot ever agree that Hindley or Brady should ever be released. My sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the Downey family. God bless Lesley Ann whom I am sure is in the arms of angels.

@@ladythatsshalott318 Thank you for informing me that Hindley and Brady are now dead. I guess I try not to use time on hearing news about their wretched lives or the lives of serial killers. I had recently had a chat with an old friend who brought up this case and so I decided to watch it. With regards to the torture you mention - I am surmising that you mean it was somewhat "played down" in the video. On thats I do not know and from your comment I deduce that you do know. However, from what was presented in this awful film I think it was bad enough to get the message across. @@redknight1825 I was little myself when the court cases were going on. I heard some of the details of what they did and they stuck in my head forever as it was so horrific. As years went on I could never understand support for Myra or how some suggested she was only lead by Brady. I wasn't suggesting that this vid or any should go into any great detail to get the point across by the way. My comment was purely to express my revulsion and not intended to patronise anyone.

@@ladythatsshalott318 : I see, I did not know that more details were given during the time of the case. It seems that perhaps the media (newspapers/TV) have changed somewhat since then in that they perhaps do not tell all the horrors believing that the public are too sensitive to know. On that it is debatable I guess. However, I now understand your stand point now much more clearly and a such I am in full agreement with you. I cannot imagine that it could have been worse and I am not sure how you have managed to cope with having that awful knowledge in your head. I also agree that it was/is difficult to understand how the public could consider ever letting either of them be free. As I understand it Brady did not want to be freed anyway. In any case, after what those monsters did to those children there is no going back from it and no human can ever forgive. Such forgiveness can only ever be in the hands of God (if one is a believer). Thank you for getting back to me, I fully appreciate it. Take care.

@@redknight1825 Some people are born sensitive. I was one. Even all of the rumours around the case stuck in my head. As an adult I was literally insane if one of my children were late home or out of my sight for a short period. It didn't stop my daughter from being assaulted. I now have a granddaughter....and I swear, if anyone ever hurts her, I will commit murder. The concept of God is a difficult one, as was brought up catholic, same as Myra. Maybe there is a far bigger picture than the suffering on earth.....I tell myself there must be....but my daughter is very ill and I suppose I am drawn to watch videos such as this as i am trying to find reason in life for all the bad things. My heart breaks for this couple. Horrendous, heinous, despicable, wicked ... Any amount of superlatives can't begin to do the evil of this case justice. If poor Leslie were my child I think I'd have had a breakdown or worse from the initial stress, but the ordeal these poor people went through is almost unbearable to imagine let alone live through. May they all rest together in peace and find a happier existence beyond this life. I can only hope Brady and Hindley suffer horrifically to their dying day. Heartwrenching stuff

Lesley was such a beautiful little girl. The way her mother described what she was like she sounded like she was such a sweet little girl. Reading the transcripts of the tape made me sick. It breaks my heart imagining what she went through and how terrified she must have been, begging them to let her go home to her mommy. Brady and Hindley both got exactly what they deserved. Rest in peace, Lesley. And the 4 other victims.

Hands down one of the most powerful things I’ve ever seen! Bless Ann and Alan for being able to share their story and managing to maintain some semblance of composure while recounting such a heinous and tortuous event in their lives. The years of unrelenting pain brought on by the brutal murder of their beautiful daughter is evidenced in the sadness of their eyes and is forever etched in the lines of their tragic faces. One cannot even begin to imagine the horrors of their experience. Their words and remembrances are piercing and will stay with me whenever I reflect upon this deeply disturbing chapter in the annals of British crime. The dramatization of this nightmarish story was brilliantly recreated here by skilled actors and a production team that spared no detail in depicting 1960’s Manchester. Kudos to all those involved. And rest in peace dear Ann and Alan and all my hopes in your long-sought reunion with Lesley. Also gone now are the horrendous perpetrators of this terrible tragedy of oh so long ago. Hopefully they have faced the dire consequences of their dreadful deeds in some higher court. If ever a pair of fiends deserved the worst possible punishment, it’s these two heartless animals. Brady and Hindley were the embodiment of pure evil and the impact of their crimes will surely continue to horrify generations to come.

Back in the 60s my Dad's friend was driving across the Pennines late one night when his car headlights picked out two people, a young man and woman, carrying what appeared to be a sack. My Dad's friend said that he thought it was a bit odd to see people up on those lonely moors, so late at night, but he thought no more about it and drove on. A couple of years later, Hindley and Brady were all over the news, and my Dad's friend said that when he saw their photos, his blood ran cold: It was the same couple that he had seen on the moors that night, carrying what appeared to be a sack.
