Everyone knows the familiar story of the Titanic. But few realize that she was one of three near identical ships, The Olympic Class fleet. Three super liners, the largest of her time.
In this episode we explore the history of RMS Olympic, the flagship liner of the fleet. From sinking an enemy sub, to transporting royalty. Explore her fascinating story and see how she went from sailing the ocean waves to her surviving features finding their way to a small hotel in the North of England.

Hello. I am a Titanic enthusiast, so I have heard of most of what you said. But I feel you put it in a way that I enjoyed hearing the story again, but also a newcomer would also understand. I also don't understand why this channel does not have more subscribers. I dont know how you can push this forward, apart from everyone passing the videos to there friends and family to ask them to join. I think its fantastic. Please keep it up. You deserve more support. Well done.

Thank you for the comment. One of my main aims with this channel was to present it in a way many would understand. From die hard Titanic enthusiasts to someone who is only just learning about her story. Hopefully more people will see my channel. Thank you for the support and the great comment 👍🏻.

The Olympic class liners were very beautiful ships indeed. It is a shame that none of them are still floating. I know that I, among many other people, would love to walk aboard Olympic if she were still around. The Olympic class is definitely my favorite class of ocean liners

Did you notice that the White Swan Hotel restaurant had a model of Mauretania (1907) above the bar? Whilst most patrons wouldn’t know the difference I found this odd from a hotel promoting it’s Titanic links for custom. I walked in one day after breakfast had been served, took a quick look around the stairs & first class lounge areas & snapped some quick photos before departing unnoticed. I’m continue to enjoy the channel, all you videos are well researched & the time to travel to all these places to shot a few scenes is understood.

I did see the model however I didn’t identify it as the Mauritania. It was so crazy standing in Olympics lounge, there was so much to see and take In, I must have overlooked it. I’m really glad you enjoyed the video and my channel. It is a shame that it takes me so long to make an episode. I work full time so I have to try and fit these visits in when I can.

The folks at the White Swan hotel are friendly enough. If you just pop in and ask if it’s okay to take a look around, they really don’t mind, and they don’t seem to mind if you have a camera in hand. They may have just thought that you might want to be putting up rigging and lighting and things like that.

Yes, I agree. The staff were very friendly. I was very clear in what I would be doing and the equipment I would be using, both in writing and verbally. Both occasions they were firm, no recording. Pictures only.

I think it’s only right that you put them on blast for their lack of hospitality. You’re a respectful, and gentle man. Your exposure of this property would only have been fantastic free press for them.

Its pretty crazy that Norman Wilkinson, the artist who invented the dazzle camouflage painting on ships during ww1 was the same artist who painted "Plymouth harbour" which Thomas Andrews was supposedly looking at when he was last seen in the first class smoking room on the Titanic.

And Approach to the New World, which was the corresponding painting on the Olympic. It still survives, and is in Southampton, I believe.

Great informative video, so cheers 👍 I've stayed at the White swan in Alnwick Yes,great bits of salvaged Olympics internal decor Including the lounge, but as you may or not have seen the lounges ceiling lights are wrong...very wrong Why ...? Because they're from the Olympics Smoking room . The original lights ,including the main central light .... Where ....? Cutlers hall in Sheffield UK 🇬🇧

Thank you so much for the history and want to tell you I like you have a big piece of Olympics deck planking all way here in Oklahoma, the United States and have piece of Titanics waist plank for her decking plus a coin and coal from the wreck. I’m so glad to get this.
