Historically-Titanic was never called ship of dreams ,she was 'old news' cuz Olympic came first, nor was Olympic, they were just impressive by their size. All seen before just scaled up in size

They always glamorize the Titanic...but most of those who perished were second and third class. Women and children first...in first class. Poor women and children were last...😥

Excellent video. We are coming from the USA in a couple of months and a visit to Mr. Ismays gravesite is on our list. I see some other graves in the Ismay plot. Who else is buried there?

Hi. Thanks for the comment. I’m glad you like the episode. As far as I am aware Ismay is buried along side his wife. His two daughters are buried in separate locations. I hope you have a great time when you come to the UK. There are many other Titanic related sites in and around London that are worth a visit, happy to help further if you’re interested. 😁👍🏻

@@BeyondTheTitanic Definitely interested in Titanic sites. Getting to Putney Vale, our hotel is close to Tottenham Rd Station. We take the Tube to Putney Bridge Station, then the 85 Bus toward Kingston? That will pass by the Cemetery, right?

Very interesting. While I had heard of WHH, and his band many times, I never knew the story of his violin, that it had been recovered and sold at auction. Too bad it wasn't returned to his descendants. Thanks for an excellent and informative video.

@16:33 I thought that was a shower drain on his grave, thinking it was some kind of twisted joke, but it's probably a flower holder you place the stems in. Still, it looks like a shower drain.

That theory can be debunked as they wouldnt of had the time to swap every interior piece of the Olympic and Titanic. Reason why they would need to swap EVERY PIECE is because every piece of interior had a hull number on it. Olympics was 400 and Titanic's was 401.

Ah, I really enjoyed this. I do love your presenting style and thank you for including what happened to Maria at the end as I was going to ask if you knew what had happened to her. I can't help but think that Wallace made a point of storing away his violin. It was the thing that connected him to his fiancée and what he could have with him in his final moments. So sad. I also wonder whether it was simply overlooked at the time his body was recovered by people who didn't put any value to an instrument they couldn't relate to, unlike watches and pens, those personal items that most people would have kept upon their person.Great stuff though, thank you. I learnt lot today, including it can be SS or RMS Titanic.

I'm thinking of scenarios that would explain how the violin was separated from Hartley after or during his body's recovery. Just seeing the violin in this video brings a feeling of great reverence. I'm binging on your videos and am stumped as to why you don't have an enormous audience. I hope you keep producing!

It's distressing how Ismay was scapegoat villain for the purpose of creating drama. It's nice to see him defended and put in the proper perspective. Cameron's work was so impressive on many levels, but the storyline was hokey and I remember being disappointed that Ismay's character wasn't updated in that movie. Glad you've done so here! 👍

Well arend there no tourist boats at Southhampton, where you can make round trips through the harbour? I am shure they would show you the "Titanic"-quay from the waterside? Well, the story with the look-out-glasses... I am shure that if Captain Smith would have wanted the glasses from the cupboard, he would ordered to brake the lock and get the glasses anyway. He was the captain and also there where enough experts on board to brake such locks, even this primitive type of locks in 1912. I still wonder, why the captain did not do that. On the other hand, to use glasses at night in the open at -4°C all the time would be senseless. The radiated heat from the face would have produced moisture, so that someone would to have to clean the glasses all the time anyway and maybe missed the berg in this precious seconds. That is at least when I tried my glasses on a cold winter night, to prove my theory.

One too-long comment I will add: about all the second-guessing and blaming people for their actions or inactions. No one on the Titanic had seen the movies, or had access to you tube and internet theories. They had to do the best they could in the situation they were confronting, not knowing what else is going on all over the ship. Lightoller thought the ship's lights he saw in the distance indicated that rescue was near, loading boats to maximum capacity (even if passengers would get into them, especially at first) could result in boats capsizing even before they reached the water 70 feet below. He didn't know how quickly his ship would sink, the other ship would not come. He sent a bosun and some crew to open a lower gangway, thinking more passengers could then get in the partly-filled boats. He never heard of the bosun and other crew again. And Murdoch was very active in loading boats, but only the last boats on starboard were close to being fully loaded. The first boat on starboard, Boat 7 having 28 of 65 and boat 5 37 of 65. That's happening about 75 minutes after the iceburg was hit. Launching a boat took up to 15 minutes to get it down from the boat deck to water: too slow for action to portray it in the movies. On topic, Ismay does according to one witness, mention to Captain Smith how well the ship is doing, maybe more boilers could be put in service tomorrow. He's not saying let's race to get into New York and break a speed record.
