This big breakfast on the Weber Slate griddle is our first official cook on the new Weber griddle… and we did it BIG with our homemade griddle pancakes, crispy hashbrowns, sausage, bacon, and over easy eggs. I recommend doing a big breakfast with all the fixin’s when you get a new griddle, because it’s a great way to learn about the hot and cool spots on your griddle, the temperature zones, and whether or not your griddle temp will creep up on you during a long cook.
So this big griddle breakTfast was all about learning how the Weber Slate 30” griddle performs… and I must say, the temperature stayed pretty dang even! Overall, GREAT first cook and delicious breakfast!

Great video. I love my 36 inch slate, I am about to do my 3rd cook on it. Weber gets stock on the 36 but it doesn't last. I suggest anyone who wants a 36 to call them, don't use the website. I ordered mine on April 12th, they had 5 in stock and the website said out of stock. I have seen the slightly high spot you reference, but when I actually cook it does not show up in my food. I have filled it with bacon from edge to edge twice, I even had bacon on either side of the grease trap.. Only those pieces and the front right corner were low After 2 cooks I feel good enough about the temperature and the knobs that I don't even care about my IR thermometer. Thank you for your service to our country and your service to us cooks :)

Hash Browns-Shred raw potatoes with a box grater, microwave on high to jump start the potatoes cooking. While hot, stir in bacon grease, salt & pepper to taste. Put on buttered griddle. As you flip them, re-butter the griddle to help them brown.

Love your videos. Speaking for myself, the best way I found to make my hash-browns was to either bake in foil or slow boil my whole potatoes ahead of time (planning...I know) cool them, refrigerate for a couple of hours, peel and shred them. Sounds like a lot of work but not so much. Then either use them or freeze for later. Cooked and perfectly crispy every time.

I'm a little bit new at the griddling and I do love my outdoor 36-in griddle and my indoor 21 inch griddle. One day I'm going to have to try making multiple items at one time like this. So far while I am new at it I have been only cooking a whole surface full of one item at a time. As a single guy it doesn't really matter too much sometimes, but I definitely would love to make a whole breakfast at once or some whole meal at once instead of making them item by item.

Great breakfast cook review! I read between the lines on your first review and got one. Love the build and the features. I seasoned with just one thin coat of grape seed oil then cooked a bunch of onions with avocado oil covering the whole surface. The onions did cook even. I am also getting the hot spot in the middle but turning down the middle burner lower than the rest mitigates. Just did big breakfast and my sausage was cooked even as were the two hashbrown piles. Low temp cooking is easy to achieve (320), and I am already able to ramp up and down temps and dial in even though this is my first griddle. Already so nonstick I have trouble flipping my OE eggs because they slide around so easy. After higher heat for hashbrowns I turned to low and did scrambled eggs with no sticking and no browning which is great because several in family do not want any browning on eggs. The surface of this griddle is primo. As good as my premium smooth American cast iron and French carbon steel skillets. I am thinking the wind protection may be one reasons why the Slate has a little less even heat than the old 28" model. However, living in Nebraska wind protection is important. Had a stiff breeze this morning and no issues getting plenty of even heat.

I said I thought Weber missed the mark on this one, but perhaps not as much as I thought. Actually seeing the cook may have changed my mind. The ability to stay fairly low temps is phenomenal. Hot spots seemed to not be too far off once food hits the surface. The only negative I can really see if the dumb temperature dial. Go Army.

Thanks for the video...pretty much made my decision for me. I currently have a 36 BS that while the cooking surface is still in great shape the rest of it is falling apart, peeling, rusting etc. Plus i dont care for the rear grease trap. Was considering the Halo 4burner but now I think the Weber Slate looks like a better choice. I will say not being able to use the lid while cooking is disappointing at this price point.

I have had my Weber 4 burner 36 inch for about 9-10 months, version 1 not the new one. My hot spot is the far right side which seems easier to manage the griddle temp than it is with yours being the hot spot in the middle because it is effecting both left and right. Both version 1 and 2 are keepers in my book. can't see myself ever cooking on a Blackstone as long as weber is out there. Have you seen the price of the Blackstone Pro Series? Over a $1,000 on the Pizza Oven and Griddles closer to $1500! Crazy

Is the Weber worth the significant increase in cost over the Blackstone? I’m not an expert on Blackstone griddles, but it looks like the Weber costs several hundred bucks more than a comparable one from Blackstone. I assume that you’re using your oven to keep all of that food warm. If you ever want a recommendation for a high quality chafing dish like the ones hotels use at their buffet breakfasts, I can do that. I got one on Bezos’ website a few years ago and definitely a heavy duty, commercial product and it wasn’t crazy expensive. It would easily hold everything you cooked here. Since the heat is coming from steam underneath the pan, you never have to worry about your food drying out. It runs on Sterno cans, so you can use it anywhere, which is convenient.

I have not had the best of luck with the ones I have bought..I think what I want out of a griddle Blackstone does not offer...then name is power...Blackstone...you think of griddle..Not until Weber and Traeger came out with something I think the Blackstone struggle with...even heating and low temps...non of mine have been close to that idea....But that does not stop them from selling the crap out of them...

Do you think this 30 is enough for my family of 4 ( two small kids ) and time to time parties for Smash Burgers.. seems like i might use this griddle the most for breakfast for my family and maybe tacos for family/party

Tell me Neal - Do you purposely set your flat tops off-level so the oil/grease pools at one side or in a corner? I'm anal about trying to make my flat top griddle perfectly level, but now I'm second-guessing the wisdom of that. Other than having cracked eggs run away... Thanks. Cheers!

Well my deck runs that way nationally...I have to move units so often I just got used to it....However it can absolutely help out....I like the idea of the oil pooling and having it if needed...or to even shallow fry

I agree that is a super even heating surface compared to MOST larger griddles.
