I absolutely love this woman. Big Mama sounds tough but deep down she was such a beautiful soul. To me, there's no one better.

Wow! What an incredible memory this woman had. I can barely remember what I did yesterday. Big Mama was so real, humble and unassuming.

I am so sorry she was not able to benefit financially from her talents. She speaks very well. Wish she could have benefitted from Hound Dog instead of Elvis.

I will always believe that Big Mama had a very rough childhood just based on the fact that she left her home at just 14 😢

At the end she mentions a 'new' record ('Tom Cat') having been released on the day of the Kennedy assassination, which would presumably date this interview to c. 1964, though the only discographic info I can find gives its release year as '65.

Great interview. Thanks for posting. She was a treasure, but a rough living woman. God rest her. I love how when she's asked what she wants to say she says, "give me a job"! That was great.

What I hear in this is a woman who clearly does *not* want to talk about her early life. The interviewer seems utterly clueless about that, as he keeps going back to it again and again.
