Wish I could give this video a thousand likes. You show what to do in 2 mins vs. I have no clue what other people were trying to tell us in hour long videos. Saved me a ton of time and frustration. Very well done.

Perfecto! As a newbie to Ham, the manual needs to be reworked by people who know how to communicate the way people think. I worked in that industry for a bank, as a liaison between programmers and users. That experience taught me so much. And you are SO right BigCountry05; it isn't difficult and I thank you for your video!

Awesome video. Thanks! I want to add that if the channel you want to use is already assigned a frequency you must use the "DEL-CH" function first. When choosing a slot to save your new frequency in, if the letters "CH" precede any channel number you want to use that means the channel is currently assigned a frequency (you can see this clearly in the video). You must either find an empty channel slot or use the delete function to reassign an already used slot. "DEL-CH" is menu item number 28.

Well, this was definitely short and sweet but no matter how many times I did that channel save thing, it didn't quite work like you did. It did however save somehow to channel 0. I was unsure what the initial "27" was for. The "17" location, I could gather was just your choice of where to save but again, the 27, not sure. However, that aside, I got it to the point where it did the scan, but it goes real fast, then back to the 146940 and never hear a thing. So, I'm not quite sure whether I'm scanning right, what frequencies I should be using, etc.

I appreciate the video! Have you had transmit issues with this radio? I can't seem to get mine to transmit. It receives just fine.
@imjustmetoo74194 жыл бұрын
Try changing antennas. I'm new to ham but have picked up some pointers...a longer/better antenna gives better reception and "more power" gives further transmission.

27 is the menu option number. You can scroll up to option 27 or you can input the numbers 27 to jump to that submenu like a hotkey

Good God this would be so much easier if he would just leave out all the bull-shit words that don't mean anything. If you don't understand then just listen to him talk. 3/4 of what comes out of his mouth is not necessary.
@kevinmcbee7207 Жыл бұрын
you go to fast, you have to give people time to do our radio
@mikespunchlist6 жыл бұрын
Not very informative. This radio is basically for Amateur radio use on 2M and 70cm bands. Most effective communication on these bands is through the use of repeaters. This video has NOTHING about repeater frequencies, offsets, and tones needed for repeater use. Yes... his instruction will input listening frequencies and would be fine for simplex frequencies, but not for repeaters. And scan mode operates both in channel mode or frequency modes.
@stevemazz31216 жыл бұрын
Being able to input the frequency gives way to setting the tone and offset... using the manual with the instructions... don't be a dumb ass.
@mikespunchlist6 жыл бұрын
Anyone that uses the manual and China written instructions and doesn't use their computer with CHIRP to program these radios is a dumb ass. It would take forever to program over 100 channels times 2 modes channel and frequency doing them by key input.
@jamesbonanno33596 жыл бұрын
M Mathews I didn't understand your criticism of this video. He showed you exactly what he stated he would, programming different frequencies. There are other videos on programming Towers in and how to deal with the offsets and the tone. This video did exactly what it said it would, so any criticism is unwarranted. If you're only going to input 10 or 12 channels it's fine to program it this way and you can also input your repeaters that way. When you're going to do 20, 30 or more it absolutely behooves the person to get a programming cable and using chirp software to download the various information you select. Jim...out.

Don't be a tool, its a great video for setting up initial freq's for someone who just bought one of these!
