Hello, yes, they are passive radiators, the boombox itself doesn't have great sound, they have quite poor sound.

I have to be honest, i wish this box sounded a lot better than it actually does, the treble is ok but the bass is almost non existent, well there is bass but there is no bass sound if you get me. i even swapped the passives out and tested a set of Panasonic DT680 woofers in it but it didn't make any difference, because of that i never use it, in fact i've probably played with it about twice since i got it. it's a shame because it's a beautiful thing.

it's actually about 39-40 years old, think it came out in 1983, i know other collectors that owned these and everyone said the same thing, they all said they lack bass, i even tried other woofers in it, the Panasonic DT680 sounds really Bassy and nice, i tried the woofers out of one of them and it still had no bass, i think its just the way Toshiba designed the bass/treble board, i have other Toshiba's that embarrass this one so Toshiba can be nice, shame as well because its look are beautiful.
