You might suppress your emotions when you walk through the door at work. But your colleagues can still feel them. Author Cassandra Worthy explains how to transform negative thoughts into positive ones.

Cassandra Worthy, the author of Change Enthusiasm: How to Harness the Power of Emotion for Leadership and Success, believes that emotions can have a uniquely strong influence on our personal and professional lives.
According to Worthy, emotions don't turn off when we walk into a business setting or turn on our laptops, and we can catch the emotions of those around us, both positive and negative. This phenomenon is called emotional contagion, and it can have a significant impact on our mood and productivity.
Worthy suggests that suppressing emotions can lead to physical ailments and that it's important to acknowledge and transform them instead of ignoring them. Emotions can be transferred, transformed, or conserved, and by becoming more self-aware of our emotions, we can transform negative thoughts into positive ones. This transformation can help us reach our goals and fuel our personal evolution.

I liked how she illustrates the way emotions fluctuate among peers, nevertheless for me her conception of negative emotions as "weeds that need to be plugged" easily falls into the way American positivity deals with these kinds of emotions, a sun that one can easily cover with a finger. I believe it is possible to learn how one decides to face a situation, one can learn to adopt a plausible and more emotionally intelligent attitude. However, learning so goes beyond plunging negative emotions, in fact, it has more to do with learning to hear them and nurture them.

I had the same thought about the analogy not being perfectly fitting, but I think the overall insight she gave us is almost exactly as you said: the primary emotion that we feel cannot be ignored (we also cannot expect it to be dealt with just by venting to others); it has to be recognized, accepted as the compass that tell us what we are lacking or where we'd like to be going instead, and turned into the fuel that gets us there

Key Takeaways : - Emotions spread like wildfire, impacting our behavior and work. - Acknowledge and handle signal emotions; fear, anger, anxiety, grief. - Transforming these emotions can create a culture of positivity. - Unlocking self-awareness through data and emotional recognition.

These tips for transforming emotions are amazing! Whether you're dealing with fear, grief, frustration, anger, or anxiety, there are ways to channel these emotions in more positive and productive ways. For FEAR try reframing the situation as an opportunity for growth. For GRIEF, find meaning in the experience and use it as a catalyst for personal growth. For FRUSTRATION, focus on what you can control and channel the energy into motivation. For ANGER, identify the underlying cause and express it in healthier ways. And for ANXIETY, challenge negative thoughts and use relaxation techniques to manage physical symptoms. Thanks for these valuable insights!

Before I give presentations to large audiences, I often feel quite a lot of anxiety. In the past, I tried to tell myself to "calm down". This did not work well... so a couple of years ago, I instead started telling myself that I was not anxious; I was excited! This works quite well, and if you think about it, the two feelings have many physical reactions in common...it's mostly the interpretations of these feelings that are different...

I personally struggled with this in the past years, and then the time came that I said to myself "this is not healthy anymore! it's consuming me from within". so I tried to seek some solution in order to learn what my emotions are telling me. and thankfully, little by little, i can finally overcome my fears and trauma that I've been carrying since I was young. *remember to control your emotions or your emotions will control you*

Energy transference is a real thing. People call it empathy. It's mostly unconscious though. We mimick the moods and attitudes of people around us if we are not conscious about our own thoughts and feelings. Empathy without boundaries is self destructive.

It is such interesting this world of emotions. I recently read this: ''The more we accept our humanness and our feelings for what they actually are, rather than what we wish they were, the more we digest them and grow as a human being'' - Andrew Kenneth Fretwell. From his book Emotional Alchemy the Love and Freedom Hidden within Painful Feelings.

The reality of our current situation is that we have become far too aggressive and angry, which is incredibly disheartening. However, there is an inspiring piece of information that can help us make a difference. The problem is that many people, particularly those who are in disadvantaged situations, are not made aware of this information due to insufficient government support in areas such as health care, protection, and education. If these basic needs could be addressed from the beginning, this video could potentially open up the opportunity for many more people to access this inspiring information and work towards a better future. Think Bigger!

I think the fact that it doesn't stem from reason is precisely why it works: something makes you feel a negative emotion; that negative emotion tells what kind of adjustments you should be making. I worked at a hotel where i became frustrated at people for the tiniest requests: that felt out of place, unreasonable. Well, it wasn't: I hated working in hotels. I changed my career path, and went to a direction I'm enjoying more. I still deal with customers, but I'm never frustrated

I have no idea how to transform rage, but I have learned to harness and focus it to accomplish my goals rather than allowing it to be a purely destructive force. Nevertheless, rage is a dangerous weapon to wield even for those adept at doing so. It's emotionally draining, and after many years of overcoming every obstacle by crushing it into the dirt through sheer force of will, it's begun to take a physical toll.

Awareness, that's the key. Emotions need room to evolve and this room is your consciousness. Making a habit of becoming aware of how you feel. Make a habit of checking that regularly. And that means to check your body because the emotions are in the body and not in the thoughts. So if you dedicate some time a day, be it just give minutes to check how you feel and be fully present with that. That means in these five minutes is just feeling what you feel, no distractions, just feeling and breathing. Emotions evolve naturally if they are given conscious space, the only thing that gets in the way is the way you've been conditioned to control them, or rather repress them. Spend time with your emotions and you learn to understand them, where they come from, what they are about and thus you learn to understand yourself better. From this understanding transformation will come by itself as you grow in awareness about yourself. If you are angry for example, then you are also afraid. But the anger covers it. If you spend time with the anger, if you walk with it or run run with it, dance, move, fantasize, draw, write then you'll find what you are afraid of eventually and when you spend time with that fear, you'll find sadness eventually and then you'll find release. It takes time and awareness mostly. The rest is to move the emotions in the way you feel good about moving them. This is the most intimate you can become with yourself and you'll learn a great deal when you do that. I don't recommend to force yourself to meditate though, this can end up repressing the emotions, only do that if you feel comfortable with it, otherwise it's better to move the emotions in some way, even just doodling will do. Because the emotions want movement, that's what they are all about. So if they get space to move, they will transform. That's their nature. If you feel sad or angry and you listen to a song or watch a movie that really gets how you feel for example then you transform these emotions by listening and watching. That's what art is for, it gives space for emotions to move and something that is safe will transform into beauty, maybe even joy. Do what you like doing, what you love doing with these emotions. That's what makes them so simple and yet so hard because it's rarely the same for two people. Be with how you feel for five minutes a day, just feel and move with it. Dance, sing, doodle, write, hum, nod along, take a walk, a run, whatever you like it all expands the energy that is moving inside you. And every of these steps will one after another reveal more and more of the beauty, the joy and the love that is inside you.

I declined due to my pre existing health conditions, lupus and heart disease so now I’m having a hard time providing for my children. Both of my sons are special needs. Im overwhelmed I started homeschooling them due to bullying. I’m waitressing and I’m happy to be back working but I’m not making nearly enough to get by. I have nowhere to turn no family nor friends. No hope. I have been put down and mocked, over my situation, by other christians. I’ve been blocked just for asking for prayers. I’m so ashamed and so embarrassed so please be kind. Every month I’m faced with homelessness with my children I’m barely making it. But I still keep faith. Praise Jesus. Please hear my prayers. I have faith God will continue to provide.

let all the change in so that you can feel that uncomfortable feeling of change...head into it like a buffalo into a storm. i promise you , you got this :) we got this. eat , pray, breathe, repeat, ...nothing is permanent. nothing. and your babies...smile and love is all we need so do not wear yourself out.

You are loved. Not many men may be able to show you but there is so infinitely more than men. God, Jesus, the holy spirit, they all love you. Forever have and forever will. Many men are confused, afraid, lost as we have forgotten the divine. But that too is a gift we have been given, it allows us to choose love by our own free will. The suffering allows us to decide whether we want to return to love or turn our back to it. And neither choice is wrong because it is given to us to decide freely. What matters is what you choose, from moment to moment to moment. Every single breath this choice has to be made anew, that makes it truly your choice. And this choice, through all the hardships you endure, will lead you to heaven, to infinite love, to grace and to peace. All you do is right and just, ever had been and ever will. All the sins are perfect because they give you a choice. You aren't less worthy because of the sins, you are perfect the way you are, as you are a child of god and can never be anything else. The doors to heaven are open to you, you are loved infinitely for all time. God sees you and he sees you as perfect, because that is who you are.

That happens by itself if you give them time and space, i.e. awareness. We just have a detrimental habit of repressing them, that is the main problem, it makes us inexperienced about our emotions, about what they do and how we utilise them and grow through them. Think about how natural it is for a child to move with their emotions. They don't repress naturally, that's what they get taught and to release this repression leads to what they naturally do, transformation. So if you spend time with them, you learn how to move with them. How depends on you. Wether you move your legs and go for a walk, move your hands and write something down or doodle, or wether you move your whole body and dance. Movement is what they want and repression is to keep this movement pinned down. Just watch when you get angry how you immediately will press against yourself to keep the anger inside you. Get these muscles moving and watch how the anger transforms.

This has nothing to do with emotional intelligence. She's someone selling "positive thinking" and she's not a psychologist or someone who understands this subject. Her definition of emotional intelligence is within a totally separate conversation.

What is it then? (Not a facetious question) "emotional intelligence" has always felt very esoteric and frivolous a term for me and probably many other ppl too
@stevewise1656
@stevewise1656 Жыл бұрын
@@tcrijwanachoudhury emotional intelligence is knowing how to read the room and respond appropriately. Being aware of others feelings. For instance, if your friend is going through a difficult time, someone with emotional intelligence wouldn't tell that person to, "just get over it." It's also understanding your own emotions. Everything said in the video is about manipulation as leader.
