This is an excellent video! Probably the most informative of the relatively few I've seen so far (I'm new and still catching up LOL)...but I have a question about the diesel fuel load, you mentioned this combine holds 330 gallons....can that amount get a tractor like that through an entire day, or do they have to fill up multiple times? Also, this is probably a silly question, but I would presume the cabs come equipped with AC, right? Otherwise I would think the driver would suffocate in the summer...considering how long a driver has to sit in there I would think the manufacturer would make the ride as comfortable as possible...

Me too. I grew up in an area where wheat was baked for straw and most farms ran 16-18 ft heads to make a workable straw windrow for a small square baler. The first time I saw a 30ft Head was on a John Deere 9610. It seemed so huge. Now 30ft seems like a regular size.

@@bigtractorpower my first time was riding in a 9750sts with a 30' flex head, the ih 1688 had been sold before the farms last harvest was complete so they rented the biggest baddest green machine they could to finish the bean crop, I'll never forget how that thing seemed like the space shuttle especially at night it lit up the entire field. Also the first time I experienced how much nicer duals are going over ditches at an angle, you dont even feel them.

Google combine fire...
@bigtractorpower
@bigtractorpower 4 жыл бұрын
The dust and chaff do pose a fire risk. Most often it is not the straw being blown back on the field that is an issue but dust and chaff building up near a working part inside the combine. These combines are cleaned each day using a leaf blower to clear off any build up and everything is greased. Combine fires happen but not too often.

Very interesting the specification but the farmes doesn t count very well... I am harvesting with an s670 with 625r I harvest about 35 et 45 hectares per day so 86 to 111 acre per day,paddocks here are small so we need to harvest two or three paddock during the day. The yield per hectare is about 120 bu/acre to 133, it means 8 or 9 tons per ha. And i drive between to 6.5 to 7.5 kms per hour sometimes 8 if the yield is lower ( 3.7 miles per hour to 4.3) And the price including the header and the trailer to move it is 270 000euros so 300 000 dollars american. Imagine,you can get two machines and harvesting two more areas,just need to pay two guys and two insurance and maintenance....

Where does a combine get it´s class from ?
@Zero01k
@Zero01k 4 жыл бұрын
Their engine horsepower, though in the past class size use to be based on threshing/cleaning area, which we should go back to. For example a class 9 Case or Deere has more horsepower than a class 7 Lexion, however the class 7 Lexion has more threshing/cleaning area than a class 9 Case or Deere. So the class system as it stands is rather confusing.

This farm raises 11,000 acres of wheat. There were five S790s out in this 550 acre field the day I filmed this video. Two more S790s we’re down the road in another field. I made a video showing the entire fleet in one field posted at m.kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n7Z_e7ljq5a5oH0.html

Hi Love the channel and awesome videos! But just very curious if you do, or consider doing SMALL TRACTOR POWER? The reason being is this video is a excellent example of what I deal with as well as other farmers in my class. With the Draper head at $119,305 and the combine at $543,870 and a combined cost of $663,642 to do 150 acres on a "good day" not including other fixed and variable costs that is $4424.28 per every 150 acres. That is not very profitable! On the other hand, I am one of those Central Ohio - High Yield, High Density Organic Farmers that on my first acre, I was generation roughly $80,000 for that acre. Now I'm up to 25 acres and grossing $550,000, or making roughly $22,500 per acre. Huge difference! I'm sure you and other farmer know that after the Allis-Chalmers G, which was short lived due to implements constantly getting bigger, so were the tractors and the cost. Today with the organic farming gaining more and more traction, our biggest challenge is equipment, which U.S. farm manufacturers have forgotten about us and left us behind! The struggle is real when it comes to equipment! My farm is broken up into 3 sections with 10 acres of hay, 5 acres for composting harvesting, warehouse & wash station with equipment storage buildings in the center. 10 acres for the High yield, high density organic vegetable production. People laugh, even my large scale farming friends like those who operate the farm in this video. as I use a number of older JD 750 & 850 tractors. 2 Steiner 450 and 2 Oggún tractors (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f9iena6Ct7e0Y5s.html) which is ironic as it is modeled after the Allis G and the Steiner family who produced the Steiner 425 and 450 sold that and came up with the Ventrac in Wayne County, Orrville, Ohio. They are also producing the Tilmor (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jMugq6ho0ru0iYk.html), which is to come out this fall. There is also a Turfbilt which is similar to the Oggún, which came out in I believe 2009? I went to school with the second generation boys and they do product awesome products for the small farmer, but can be a bit pricey. Implement wise, we had to be creative find two bottom plows and disc sets... like the King Kutter discs which have been modified with hydraulics and adding both baskets and cultipacker drums. Planting wise we use a modified 6 row setup with Cole Planters that we can go from 1 to 6 by adding or removing a planter set (www.coleplanter.com/12mxfeatures.htm). Also we use a 6 row Yang Seeders like seen in this video, but in a pull-type conversion in two 6 row gang sets. (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ldOGqKuEktS5qac.html). For hay making, we use a number of hay making implements from Tractor Too Direct ( tractortoolsdirect.com/). Mowing we use the T67 Compact Four Disc Mower (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bp91grJezMiagoE.html) and TX110 Two Rotor Tedder by Terra (tractortoolsdirect.com/showroom/tx110-2-rotor-tedder-by-terra/). Then the 8-wheel V-rake for hay (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g-CDmKSezdzRf4E.html) Followed by tor the he CAEB Mini Round Baler (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/abKao7Jolb6shYE.html) or the TM53 Compact Square Baler by Abbriata (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qrySodB5qbuzdoU.html) if doing square bales. We also have a TX35 Mini Power Harrow (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eMp-gbyfzcDbj2w.html). It is sad as we American farmers are losing out and being forced to go big or shop the European import market and here is what I mean. Take the Pasquali (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e9epfsx217GVfac.html) and BCS tractors which are I believe are Italian made for example. The Antonio Carraro SRH 9800 shows the real versatility and what we are losing out on in the U.S. market. (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/latxacx1yNGteX0.html) and (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e9epfsx217GVfac.html) I would be awesome if we had more availability to equipment such as the Claas Crop Tiger 40 (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pZuKlsaku7_Pqpc.html) or the Claas Dominator 40 (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gbSSdJiTsNezhZ8.html) or (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pt6nqr2A2b_Lg4E.html) Interestingly enough, I have a another 25 rented parcel that is also part of the farm operation. On part of the site we have A Red Rhino 5000 and 3 Way Screener in this sort of setup (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rq6YeJuQprnGnJs.html) where we do crush and process some asphalt and concrete, but what we are really after is gypsum drywall and limestone materials that can be processed and used on fields. We also have a 2011 Rotochopper MP2 Horizontal Grinder (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mNxkY7N61LrZo5c.html) which we collect or accept clean green waste to process into compost. But we have also used it to grind high moisture corn for a few local farmers , one being a huge hog farm. Another we process corn stalks for cattle feed. It has also been an asset when we have damaging storms and where we get a lot of clean tree debris. Some in made into mulch and some is again processed down further for compost which we sell both. Additionally we picked us a used Cord King firewood processor (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aMuVocqfnsuygas.html) which needless to say we sell firewood. Also we picked up a used Wood Mizer LT35 (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r9x5mbBmtrKddnk.html) which we do sell lumber from the tree we collect or are brought in. A lot of the wood has been used on the farm to build our buildings. from all of this craziness we also have a Gemco pellet maker (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hbJ2rKl0spmrpmg.html) where we also process sawdust we generate as well as from area Amish saw mills into wood pellets. We also process some of the hay we make into small pellets for those who have small animals like rabbits, goats, etc. This is were we also want to grow enough corn, soybeans, etc. and use a Class Tiger 40 multicrop combine to harvest organic corn, soybeans and other grain in to feed pellets. Hopefully if you or anyone checks the links added you can see what is possible! It has taken about 10 years to acquire all of the equipment and implement it into a sustainable but growing farming business which we have been able to maintain about a 40-45% profit margin. Most of that comes from our high yield organic veggies and the nutrient dense compost soil has really helped! While the bigger farm equipment is impressive I think we need to give thanks to our large farm equipment manufacturer to deceive us into greater debt and believing that are farms must be huge in order to be profitable! Nothing could be further from the truth! As anyone can see, during our cold winter months here in Ohio, we are still as busy as we are in the summer! I just hope in my lifetime, we come back to our roots of Small Tractor Power and we don't need GMO crops. We just need to get smarter with our farming practices! Its a lot of work, and sometimes more than traditional farming, but knowing you can produce high profits and high yield crops without all of the man made fertilizers and chemicals keeps us going. There is no better farmer than Mother Nature! Keep the awesome video coming as you do an awesome job. Very educational!!!

40 or 45 ft the combine if dialed in should cover the same amount of ground in a day. funny fact tho, if you take identical combines with sister serial numbers but once the paints worn off and a seasons under the tires they will behave different when tuning them in to make sample. ie. sieves, cylinder spd, fan, etc.

I would expect to cut 200-250 acres a day with that outfit per combine! 150 acres is not enough? Get a new holland cr1090 , that's holds the record for cutting most amount of wheat cut in a day, or a claas lexion 780👍

You are right sir. But sometimes people just stick to one brand because they know how it works and have a good service. I do tuning and Urea/DPF delets. I have seen one farm with Claas equipment only - because "they know how it works and how to fix it" they even had some spare parts on stock!

@@steinwaymodelb It's doing on average 4 ton an acre. John deere are not the combines they used to be! 20 years ago they were top of there field. But Claas brought out that lexion, and then went top. But new holland now have that new cr1090. And you can't beat that machine for pace or reliability! Unfortunately John Deere are in 3rd place now in the combine world.

That is the price John Deere lists on their website for a base machine. Adding guidance options, tire/track options, rotor features makes it go up. Then their are discounts and trade in value to bring it down. It’s just easier to give the official list price. A new combine is a major expense.
