The day has finally come to upgrade the shocks on my BMW R1100GS. I've picked the streetkit from hyperpro suspension, as this contains both the front and rear!
In this video I'm installing removing the old suspension and install the new shocks! Enjoy

I'm impressed with the fact that you work on your bike in your backyard, on grass. I built a wood frame in my mother's garage to hold my bikes when working on them. I have the same bike as you can see in my photo.

I still need to fix my garage door, so I can work inside the garage😑 The only problem with the grass is that you shouldn't drop a bolt, washer or a nut😉

Looks easy but it was a massive fight on mine (due to the bolts never having been undone). Loads of penetrating oil and a really long lever on the ratchet is needed.

Undoing the bottom bolt on rear gave me a bit of a struggle, removing the rear wheel first would have made that 10 times easier...🤣

The 1100gs is e great bike, not to modern so you can do a lot yourself. There is always something to upgrade, but I've done most of the stuff I wanted now... See how long it takes me to figure out something new 😂

I honestly have no clue, I've asked my mechanic to fit them a long time ago... Next time I drop my bike off I'll check (if i don't forget) :)

Hey rikanas The set is from hyperpro: www.webshop-hyperpro.com/nl/products The 4 brands I considered where hyperpro, ohlins, Wilbers and YSS. Picked the hyperpro because of the progressive spring

Hi, dat doe je goed 😊 Ik twijfel tussen een r1150gs adventure en een r1200gs adventure van 2006/2007. Waarom heb jij de 1100 gekozen? En niet een nieuwere type?

Hey Freddy, Ik heb de motor destijds van mijn eerste (paar) salarissen gekocht en dat is ondertussen al een jaar of 12 geleden... De rode adventure uit ik meen 2008 vond ik ook heel gaaf qua looks, maar was (ver) boven mijn budget, daarbij kun je aan een wat oudere motor makkelijker zelf sleutelen, ook een van de redenen waarom ik niet per se ABS hoef te hebben. Hoe minder erop zit, hoe minder er kapot kan gaan. Een 1150 heeft een aantal jaren gehad met ABS wat gevoelig is voor storingen, iets meer vermogen en hydraulische koppeling dus allemaal net wat moderner. Ik heb vorig jaar op de 1200 van mijn monteur gereden, rijd ook heel makkelijk. Al met al... luxe probleem, ik zou proberen om op alletwee een proefritje te maken en dan te beslissen.

@@M0Tourist bedankt voor je antwoord. Ik heb op beide gereden. Beide bevallen me. De 1150 ziet er voor mij wat robuuster uit, wat ik mag, de 1200 wat massiever uit, wat ik ook mag. Het feit zelf veel te kunnen doen is een belangrijk punt voor mij, maar abs hebben ook uit veiligheidsaspect. Hier in het Zwarte Woud waar ik woon kunnen medeweggebruikers nog wel eens domme dingen doen in onoverzichtelijke bochten. Daarom is abs wel een wens voor mij. Alle 1150 modellen is bijna alles wel zelf te doen en het eerste model 1200 ook geloof ik. Maar met die 1100 ben je niet bang dat de aanlevering van onderdelen op raakt?

@@xtremehelinl reserveonderdelen is geen enkel probleem, slijtage onderdelen kun je goed krijgen en je hebt ook redelijk wat opties jij de sloop. Ik heb alleen met ABS gelest en op demo fietsen gereden met ABS, het heeft zeker pluspunten, alleen je remvloeistof wisselen is minder makkelijk... Ik doe bijna alles zelf, alleen kleppen stellen en syncen laat ik doen

@@M0Tourist bedankt voor je commentaar. Dat er niet zo snel gebrek is aan onderdelen is een geruststelling. Hoeveel km heeft die van jou gelopen? En hoe rijdt ie verder? Verbruik olie? Ik heb een 1150 gezien met 66000 km, alle beurten gehad, wat natuurlijk mooi is, maar net te veel van wat ik uitgeven wil. Dan heb ik een 1150 (met i-abs) gezien met 128000 km met alle beurten gehad en een 1200 van 2006 met 183000 enalle beurten gehad. Deze zitten in het bedrag wat ik uit zou willen geven, maar daar spelen de kilometers natuurlijk weer een belangrijke rol... Ze zeggen bij 60000 is de motor net ingelopen, dan zou 128000 nog ok zijn, maar 183000?

Well.. I won't say that, they are currently between 2 and 4 k in the Netherlands and mine would be more to the 4k range. But the fun factor has increased a lot!
