I find this bike absolutely beautiful. It's kinda purposeful and elegant at the same time.

I absolutely love mine, across thousands and thousands of miles. I was excited to ride the new V4 Multi but came away loving mine even more - the engine character of the twin just seems to better suit the bike than the peaky V4 detuned racing engine of the new Multi. As you suggested, they really had just beautiful refined the last 1260 bikes. Anyway - very nice review. Appreciate all your hard work.

This a very useful comment. As I was looking to buy a v4 multi , but most likely will opt to buy this one instead

Great video and totally agree. I have a 1260s and all I want to do is hammer on the throttle, your also right about the hill hold, it turns off way too early and you have to time it with the traffic lights and it always releases too early so I just don't use that and just ride normal. Other then that its a great bike and I don't know what I would replace it with if I totaled it.

I’m glad you mentioned the hill hold control I thought it was just a problem with my Enduro model. Thanks mate.

Like a lot of 1260s owners I’ve been waiting for part 2 of your review for over a year now to hear your comparison views v the 950s. And I’m glad to hear that you finally came to the right conclusion! It was worth the wait ..😂😂👍

I like your "natural cruising speed" comment. I've recognized this with my own bikes over the years (e.g. - for my 2001 'Busa it was 150kph or about 93mph), but you're the first reviewer I've ever heard mention it. That's the kind of practical information we appreciate. Not the "puking" of data....🤣🤣🤣

I do like John's down to earth, straightforward ownership style reviews, pointing out the negatives when required. He's a younger, cool, chilled out Victor Meldrew. 😁

Glad you enjoyed your time with the bike. Looking forward to your thoughts on the V4. Agree 100% with you on the HHC - it just needs to be like the BMW version where it just stays on until you choose to switch it off or move.

Hi john im working on the Theory less is more ,so having testing both the 1260s and upgrading my old multi 950 for a 2019 950s i went for the latter . the 1260s is awsome ,but my wallet said there was a pre reg 950s with a nominal 250 miles on the clock and a healthy £1000.00 Discount so im sticking with the baby multistada and a clean driving Licence ,But it isnt a slow Bike so im happy with my purchase . great review and a real world Experience review

This is the kind of reply that potential 1260 owners need to read. I know the 950s is a beauty, you’ve proved it.

I've had my multi 950S for a year and a half now. It's got more than enough power. It's never missed a beat. I never use that hill control thing since I've never needed it for the last 40 years

“Power corrupts!” Just clocked over 30,000 km on my 2020 MS GT….just an amazing bike…only change is putting Michelin Road 5’s….leaves the OEM tyres for dead….brilliant 😮

1) Best looking of the latest V2 MultiStrada's IMO. I'm not a graphics guy but I like the graphics on this model. 2) The long-term reviews are what I like to see. You can argue numbers all day but living with a bike is another issue. thanks for this series. 3) Now that they have the ultra-powerful V4 Multi, I'd like to see them bump the 950 up to 1100 with 130HP, that would make it a very satisfying ride. The 950 was a little bland when I rode it and can only imagine it would feel even more bland 2-up. The 1200 V2 is still my favorite of the bunch. 2016/2017 model, please. Keep up the great work.

The old L2 Multi looks so much better than the new V4. Especially in this paint scheme. The new one just looks plain and boring.
@tracer11273 жыл бұрын
Definitely, the new bike might have a great engine but looks rubbish in comparison, and to swap the single sided swing arm for something I could weld together in the garage was criminal.

Still like this one WAAAAAY better than the V4 powered Abomination. 🤢🤮 All I wanted was the new engine in the old bike. Hopefully the future Pikes Peak version will look a lot more similar to the asphalt focused 1260 GT.

07:30 Basically it´s not a hill hold function, more like a berganfahrhilfe = traction help(?) = to get help when standing at a steep hill to get the bike going without using front or foot break.
@andyjones21343 жыл бұрын
Just chose 1260S over the V4 for lots of reasons. It’s an amazing bike, goes like a stabbed rat and looks brilliant. Awesome motorcycle in every way. Happy days.
@rjt29783 жыл бұрын
I just bought one and have noticed the weird hill control nuances. I have 1300 miles on the bike now and it seems like if you don’t touch the throttle or clutch then it’ll hold forever. If you touch either of those then the hill control seems to disconnect. More research required, but that’s what I’ve noticed. Absolutely love the bike and character of Ducati’s big V-twin. The V4 is a bit more high strung and has a totally different character. It pisses me off that once you’ve paid for the radar that you have to pay more to actually have it turned on...and in the States after our DOT approves it...if ever.

Very nice review, I will probably opt to buy a good used one - 1260s multi as opposed to the new big v4 multi , owing that this one has the 17inch wheel and it suits my riding style a lot

In Portugal we call them SUCATI (sucata is the portuguese word for junkyard). Expensive and problematic just like a beautiful 20 years old girlfriend, great fun but not for long-term relationship. Congrats on the vídeo. 👍👍👍

The new ones are not too unreliable anymore, but I still can't ever see myself owning a Ducati since I can never associate myself with the type of douchebags that tend to own them. Ducati rider, just like BMW drivers just have a bad image that's hard to overcome for me.
@itnoked8 ай бұрын
I would like to dispel this rumor that ducatis are unreliable. I bought a 2019 multi 1260s in June. In August, I rode 5,000mi (9,000 km) from Los Angeles to Banff Canada, and back. I got one flat tire that I fixed, and had to add 250ml of synthetic oil. No other issues at all. It was flawless. Now I won’t lie about the maintenance being expensive, but preventative maintenance and unreliability are two very different things!
@davidnewman96343 жыл бұрын
With the 1260 you got 47 mpg. With the V4 you'll struggle to make it to the end of your driveway before refueling.

Ride the 950 with a pillion, you will want the 1260 within 5 minutes - trust me. I know
@JohnhereАй бұрын
@I_am_Thursday I’ve ridden for donkeys years and had more bikes than horses dinners. The 950 is a good bike but there is no replacement for displacement. You will bounce off the limiter on the 950, as I have, a lot. Compared to the 1260 which sits on my drive, there is absolutely no comparison. Fully loaded, with a pillion on a long trip the 950 isn’t powerful enough and was the reason I sold it.
