Biking Erwin, Tennessee | The Erwin Linear Trail

Come along for the ride as we explore the Erwin Linear Trail in the little mountain town of Erwin, Tennessee. We'll learn about a tragic event from Erwin's history and also discover a roadside attraction of sorts...I'm calling it the World's Largest Hamburger! All of that and more on this edition of Joyful Trails.

I just subscribed. I really like that you give the history of the trail, the neighboring communities, and any interesting stories from the area like Big Mary. I probably won't get a chance to ride most of the trails you ride (I live too far north), but at least I can visit them virtually.

I used to work and live in Erwin. At Uncle Johnny's Nolichucky hostel and I also worked at USA raft. Nice seeing this video. Pals burgers are absolutely delicious and now I'm seriously craving one! As an avid rider I will attest to the "fun" root bumps on the linear trail lol. I recommend suspension. Sad but true story about Mary. The statues around town are pretty nifty tho. There's a couple state parks in the area worth checking out as well as the Appalachian Trail. Beauty Spot on Unaka Mountain is a treat for sunset. Thanks for the video! I was in Erwin on a bike tour to visit friends for July 4th several months back. It's nice reminiscing with this video!

OMGoodness!!! My husband & I just returned home from riding the Erwin Linear Trail. Root issues??? Are you kidding me? They have MAJOR root issues!!! Very nice trail, though, and a great workout as well. You always make it look so easy when you are riding/filming and honestly don't know how you didn't huff and puff on some of those hills! Of course, we had to eat at Pal's Sudden Service as you did and it was pretty good. Keep up the great work. Now, I have to go as, "we have a trail to ride"!!

Great to hear that you enjoyed the trail, tree roots and all. 😂 yeah, now that I’m in my 60s, I have started realizing that these hills aren’t as easy as they used to be. There may be an E bike in my future… 😬

Hard Boiled Eggs 🥚 😮 For a snack.. I like hard boiled eggs.. but not for a bike ride snack.. If you’re not tried them I recommend Uncrustables you’ll find them in the freezer section of most grocery stores.. 🚴‍♂️😎.. See you on the Trails..

I’ll have to try that! Yeah, I bought those eggs at a convenience store. What I didn’t mention in the video is that I don’t like the yellow part when it’s hard-boiled like that…so I just ate six egg whites. 😂

Hope you don't get tired of hearing me say thanks! I subscribe to probably 20 channels, but I enjoy yours the most. Videos are always well done and you really do a great job of giving us a feel for the community AND the trail. I appreciate your work. One question...how long is the trail? (my usual question haha)

Man, I really appreciate you saying that. Now and then, producing a new one every week gets a little tough…but comments like yours inspire me to keep going! On the length… AllTrails says it’s 8 miles out-and-back.

What would be really funny is if you did a video one day riding a horse with your GoPro running and you talking… But you’re riding a horse instead of your bike. 😂

Thanks for sharing the video. Enjoyed the water scenes. Your videos amaze me and I still don’t understand how you get all the overhead shots, etc. I had a friend who lived in Erwin before he passed away several years ago. I’ve visited Erwin many times and always enjoy the area tremendously. It’s also an Appalachian Trail town. Thanks again for excellent videos.

Thanks for the kind words. Those overhead shots are obtained with a 360 camera. In my case it’s the Insta360 x3. It uses technology that causes the “selfie stick” to disappear. I don’t know how it works… I’m just glad it does! 😆
