I used the GoPro HERO 9 Black's TimeWarp 3.0 feature to capture a recent bike ride along the High Bridge Trail in Farmville, Virginia.
The High Bridge Trail is 31 miles long and has a finely crushed limestone surface. The scenic highlight of the park is the High Bridge, which is over 2,400 feet long and perched 125 feet above the Appomattox River. It is the longest recreational bridge in Virginia and among the longest in the United States.
For this ride, I only did the eastern portion of the trail. I started my ride from downtown Farmville and parked in the parking lot where 1st Street and North Main Street intersect (parking is free). From the parking lot, I took the High Bridge Trail east all the way to where it ends, which is near the town of Burkeville. The end of the eastern portion of the trail is unceremonious - it is literally just a picnic table with a small signpost that indicates it is the end of the trail. The picnic table is where I turned around to head back to Farmville (this is also where I started the video recording).
Overall, I thought the crushed limestone surface was very well maintained and free of potholes, large rocks, hazards, etc. Scenery-wise, the High Bridge is obviously the highlight. There are a couple historical markers, a fort, and some pretty farms in the eastern portion I biked - other than that, it is just lots and lots of trees.
One way from the picnic table near Burkeville to Farmville is approximately 15-miles. I did this as an out-and-back (from Farmville to the picnic table near Burkeville and back to Farmville), so for me this was a 30-mile ride.
