Billetworkz + Racer X | 2 Short Shifters in 1 | GR Corolla Driving Impressions

The title might seem odd, but I've achieved shifting bliss (until I change it again... LOL). I combined the new Billetworkz GR Corolla short shifter, with the previously installed Racer X short shifter.
Let me tell you something... this is amazing.

You are the MAN for doing this! I just got my '24 Circuit on Saturday, and doing research into the available short-throws on the market, I immediately wondered what would happen if you combined them!

Yo! You will LOVE how it feels. Now… I’m not saying I’m done because there is a future where I go to the next phase with CAE Shifters or Coolerworx.

Short shifter x 2 is OVERKILL. Billetworkz is the way to go.

Haha! I BEG to differ! This feels amazing, but only if you are someone who likes the idea of Coolerworx or CAE shifters. Those are even more direct, but for those who love that... we can't go back.

Nice video....Any plans to upgrade clutch and flywheel. I'm upgrading mine both clutch and flywheel

No plans yet, but getting close to tuning I may start thinking about it, due to the torque increase.

What would you rank the 3 different setups? Forge SS + DC Bushings Racer X SS + Racer X Bushings Biletworkz SS

It’s hard to rank. So much is preference of what you want to feel. I had the forge, forge + dc, just dc, to racerx + dc. I can honestly say the only thing I liked about the forge was how short you can make the distance of the throw.. but that came with a surprising amount of friction and it was so weird every time into 3rd. The shifts felt like knuckles cracking is the best way I can describe it. The dc bushings are a must for me. While I was waiting for my racerx I rocked the dc only and it felt like the gears snapped into place. Racerx + dc has been a dream in terms of feel but I miss the short throws. Since the racerx shortens by 40% and the bw ss claims 25% it would be right on par with the forge. Plus they’re shortening from two different ends so I don’t see it interfering with each other. @carquicks is on to something over here 👀

I want to piggy back off what @koalaOalaJones said… that description is pretty spot on with how the Forge SS & DC felt. Forge SS you can shorten the throws a lot but there was an issue of interference with linkages early on (the design may have been tweaked by now). The DC Bushings I always shout out because of how well they perform. I previously ran 2J-Racing Bushings, which are excellent, but the DC Bushings having a Delrin ring around them, smoothed out the transitions. RacerX with the Bushings, feels fantastic. Nice clean, short throws, not much friction or the feeling of “knuckles cracking”. Just direct. The BilletWorkz by itself would to me feel on par with the stock setup, but shortened and a tad bit tighter. The additional Racer X setup I am running turns the setup into that tight, direct, short throw and the Billerworkz shortens that another 25%. In total you’d be looking at an almost 70% reduction in throw.

Can we get a review of just the billetworkz shifter? I'm not a fan of that risky Racer X bushing setup near the linkage.

So by itself the BW SS is a 25% throw reduction, which in itself is good and most likely enough for most people. What I like that BW did is the height you get on the shifter after the install (its taller) and the direct-ness you feel in each shift. The RacerX SS I have had installed fro over 10K miles, so I wouldn't be concerned about its being risky, this install and configuration has been running on quite a few cars, so any failures I would imagine would be reported by now.

Ima say in my experience the racer X bushing setup has worked perfectly smooth and I'm fbo on a 28psi boost map, I need that billet shifter and the racer X shifter mount
