No that's not gonna happend 😫 People who are thinking they are invincible and knows it all (and money REALLY seem to push that trait to the limit and beyond) and therefore dosen't care about their safety and/or others will always exist .. The same goes for rich people growing empathy, respect and accountability and wanting to make thos world better for others that themselfs, that's just not gonna happend, it's up to us to change this world, cuz they will never care unless we make them... boycott the rich assholes of this world 😫

They were literally killed because Stockton Rush tried to build it on the cheap. Old reliable steel & titanium would have worked more than well enough, and would have kept this guy out of the news. So yes, in this particular case, throwing more money at it really _would_ have protected them.

@@233kosta I’m not so convinced that more money would’ve meant 100% safety considering the true power of the ocean and the weight of the water. Where is your research on deep sea exploration & engineering for submarines? Are you an actual expert, a scientist, an engineer? Or just an online armchair expert?

I'm an engineer. I know for a fact that it _is_ possible to build a safe sub to do that job. But not if you're cutting all the corners. "SpaceX for subs" sounds about right. I live in Newfoundland (the sub implosion happened off the coast), and my next-door neighbour helped work on some of the electrical work inside the sub (he's an electrician/contractor). I believe he worked on it years ago because people around here know it sat outside in the gated area of the harbour, exposed to the elements for years. And if you know anything about salt water, that makes shit RUST

CFRP has this big problem. If you build a cylinder out of it and compress it from the outside, it tends to warp. Much like steel hulls do. Except unlike steel, CFRP delaminates under that kind of load. It was a ticking timebomb from day one, and any aerospace engineer worth their degree could have told him that.

Unfortunately a lot of those doing deep sea exploration are privately funded like Victor Vescovo who also built his submersible with Triton Submersibles in FL ( who the guy in the article wants to use). He traveled to the deepest point of each ocean to do mapping and specimen collection. Something no one has done before.... Which is wild. It feels like that should be important work for us to do! So I am afraid that if we want our oceans explored and research done we will need to rely on these billionaires paying to make it happen....

The biggest issue with the first sub was actually an insufficient number of propellors. If you look at the actual design of the sub itself, you can see that there are no seats. No seatbelts. Nothing to keep the crew in place, at all. That is what we call a 'tactical oopsie' because if the sub were to, purely hypothetically, end up in a near vertical position? It did not have the ability to correct itself. It literally would get stuck nose down. Then all of the crew would fall towards the 'nose' making the problem worse. That said, READ THIS PART So, that's the boring science part. Here's the tinfoil hat part. So, a bunch of millionaires and billionaires disappear at the bottom of the sea. And suddenly other ones wanna go to? Here's a suggestion. Go read Atlas Shrugged. Or go play Bioshock 1. Methinks someone needs to consult John Galt. Or has chosen Rapture.

But there ARE proper submarines to go to the Titanic, even James Cameron went there I don't know how many times before he made the Titanic movie. If someone is a billionaire one would think they have the money to build a real/safe submarine like those we see in documentaries and be able to pay a pro crew to take care of the vehicle and watch out on the surface, even be able to pay rescue teams. These people and their ego-projects....
@elk3407

James has been to the Titanic 33 times. The billionaire is getting Triton to build the sub, which for the record not only does James Cameron invest in Triton but they also made the world's first sub with no rated depth limit because we simply haven't found a part of the ocean deep enough. It also, unsurprisingly holds the record for the deepest crewed dive and has been to the challenger deep something like 15 to 20 times.
