Greg is on the hunt for American Bison (AKA Buffalo), so he takes a road trip through Northern BC and Alberta, in hopes of finding the great beast. He makes some interesting stops along the way and gets some sad news about his best feathered friend, Hop-a-long.
Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

Had a hen break a leg similarly. All the other hens would assault her, and wouldve probably pecked her to death. I sat with her everyday, carrying her in and out of the coup and setting water and feed next to her (in addition to making sure everyone had plenty of feed as to not promote competition). Also collected clover, dandelion and grass flower before it bloomed. I would lay her down with broken leg straightened out as best as possible without touching it. I WAS AMAZED!!! When the bone thickened to twice the diameter, and although not "perfectly" straight I kid you not that she went from the very bottom of the pecking order to the very top. I do think it had a lot to do with me sitting by her and encouraging her when she lashed out and defended the food I gave exclusively to her. Everyday she sat resting but waiting for some chick to try n punk her while she was down lol. Cheers to Yickens!

People find it weird that us who eat meat still care for animals, even if their ussually considered food. Your kindness and lessons remind me of my old man who passed away a few years ago. Its kinda comforting for me to watch these videos as it helps reawaken some memorys I have of his survival teachings. Great content. Thank you

New Adventure: GREG OVENS LOSES HIS MARBLES. Well...loses Hoppalong; hits the Happy Hunting Grounds 'OUT OF SEASON' and still delivers stunning video and warm-hearted content. Sorry about the housing project: four months of drywall hanging over substandard construction. I bet you felt every bit of the strain by the end of every day. And...it's not just a job for pay...a big part of the payoff is that you were working to make long-lasting homes for families. I am thinking of an iconic tune: 'Spirit In The Sky', from the 'Seventies.' That memory is my send-off for Hoppalong, to 'go along' with the 'Fires of Cremation!' Great Call, Greg.
