Neil I gotta tell you. You have inspired me sooo much. I'm a high school drop out who hasn't been to school in 17 years. I got my GED. I just enrolled in college today. It's a long road ahead but I've never been this excited in my life! Thank you for making science fun for me! I will be an astronomer one day count on it! UPDATE. If you understand what happened, you know just how bad most astronomers are. At the conference where they demoted Pluto, a committee with planetary scientists defined a planet as something large enough to have gravity making it round and small enough not to have fusion. Simple, clear, logical. At the end of the conference, after most people left, a bunch of astronomers ignored the planetary scientist and made a decision that, while dwarf stars are stars, dwarf planets aren't planets. Nonsensical and non-scientific.

Jenny's excitement as she talks about the discovery of these amazing cosmic monsters, Jenna's ever loving tone and the mind expanding cosmological explanations, Chuck's refreshing and delightful inserts here and there (and how he's excited for science), and Neil's kind of a romantic & passionate closing thoughts..... I dreamt of becoming a cosmologist but couldn't do it because i am no smart enough but i do keep looking up and listening to these amazing people hoping and wishing that my 2 year old daughter will one day do what i couldn't and maybe even do something like this to inspire the next generations !!! love star talk, love the universe ❤

So much of our path is determined by our teachers. In high school I had a chemistry teacher who told me I was just not capable of understanding science, for many years after I truly hated science…however I have recently been reading a lot on physics. I am an English teacher and I love my job, but who knows what would have happened if that teacher back then had more patience and passion and inspired me.

I must say....I learned so much from this guy. Not only that he knows the science...but the way he introduce science to us in a very good narrative is for every respect!!! And in combination with Chuck it is so funny and even more interesting and entertaining and this is exactly what science should be! When you see Neil you can see that little boy in him that dreams of a space...and you can recognize that child you were that shared the same dream! And I must say...thank you!!! That is what has made me wonder if you actually could resolve what we left on the moon if you coordinated thousands of cameras to take images of the moon at the same time and create on huge data set to create an image from. In the past I used to do something similar with astrophotography where I'd take hundreds of low res images of planets or the moon and stack them with software and then use software to increase the resolution by doing math on the resulting stack of hundreds of images primarily to eliminate the distortion from the atmosphere. I think I calculated that a camera image built out of cameras in a ring 40 miles across might be able to do it.

I never leave comments on KZfaq, but, eversince I've started listening to you and following you on Insta, Meta, MasterClass, etc, I've just become a dedicated fan of your breathe of knowledge and presentation style. I think your advocacy for the pursuit of knowledge and curiosity is inspirational to this generation of thinkers and non-thinkers, like Carl Sagan was for his generation. And, having a hilarious co-commentator like Chuck is like the cherry on top. Keep up the great work.

I just listened to your podcast of two years ago with Malcolm Gladwell and Chuck Nice. Three towering, brilliant minds in the bodies of regular doods with a sense of humor that had me rolling on the floor. MORE of that, please!

As much as I love how well NDT and chuck nice work together, the rate at which they'd cut off their guests just seconds into trying to answer a complex question wasn't just rude but beyond unprofessional as members of the science community

What a great event! This shows completely new approach on how to talk about science and educate people in a digestible way. You kept attention for more than an hour and half and I still feel that I am ready for more :-) I wish I was there on live but so far away, I hope you will visit Poland in Europe some time. At the end there i caught some 1:31:07 "Carl Sagan Pal Blue Dot Vibes" I know the previous generation like Carl is looking down from the cosmos so very proud of that little boy he met all those years ago excited to learn science has grown into such a fine man. Meeting Carl was destiny for Neil. Moments like this one remind us all of that fact so fondly.

Beautiful and insightful. I thought I knew all I wanted to know about black holes, but that thing about it being a bunch of quantum wormholes or the small black holes in the early universe made me want to hear so much more!

It is a pleasure witnessing Neill deGrasse Tyson joining the "universes in the center of black holes" camp more seriously. Speculative science needs these types of camps in which losing is as beneficial as winning and maybe we may never know the exact answer.
