You hit the nail on the head with this one. My ex-husband once asked me why I don't encourage him & stroke his ego because he gets up and works hard at work every day? My response, "you want me to motivate you to do what you should be doing anyway?" I would thank him all the time, cook for him, do whatever he needed including taking care of his kids. He didn't reciprocate much. Paid all the household expenses for a year; then demanded we go 50/50. He rarely helped out around the house or with the kids saying it was woman's work. When he did do something, it was because he wanted s*x later. The relationship was very transactional. I later found out that he was cheating on me with multiple women, including while I was pregnant with his only son. I divorced him as soon as I could. Every now and then he'll ask for s*x. I always turn him down. I told him before we got married, "if this doesn't work out and we divorce, I will never come back to you. I don't do second chances. I give it my all the first time. So, once we are done, I'll move forward, not backward."

This is sad because I it sounds so similar to my ex minus the kids because I refuse to give any of them kids just to inevitably end up as a mama. It’s will either be in the beginning or end. I have come to the conclusion I think black want to be worshipped by the women they are with. If you are not constantly stroking their ego and treating them like literal kings then they don’t feel like you are “worthy” of their minimal effort and presence. I also think black men think they should be worshiped because they have this inflated idea in their minds that they have the bigger penises (which is not always true) so that’s all they need to be respected and worshiped. I give up on them at this point I don’t see this problem resolving itself.

The following source traces the history of the term black. The Old English blac was used, like blanc, to refer to a fair person, someone “devoid of colour”. It was only in the 16th century that we saw the semantic change of blac to refer to something dark (night-colour): The word ‘Black’ can be traced back to its proto Indo-European origins through the word ‘blac’ which meant pale, wan, colourless, or albino.

The disrespect that Black men have for themselves and each other is being reflected right back to them. To be respected, you must respect yourself, and that self-respect gives birth to self-confidence that no one can ever take away because it is rooted in who you are as a person and who God has made you to be. More of us men and women must choose everyday to conduct ourselves with the highest respect and dignity because we are worth it. We show people how to treat us, and right now, sadly, we are being mistreated because we mistreat ourselves and each other.

Black women been trying to uplift black men since the 40s 50s 60s 70s 80s 90s early 2000s. I don't see a lot of videos of black men uplifting women for decades. I know blk women today that stick by men thats don't love them. Ive seen older women in and out of my family carry the family even when married. Theres a lot of men that don't have anything to offer. Even when they're broke, they are to broken to be there emotionally for you. So whats the point dealing with a broke broken man. Whether you're a woman or a man if you're broken work on yourself this is not the time to be distracting yourself with ideas of dating. "If you need someone to talk to you like this you a kid". Yep and grown women DO NOT WANT TO MOTHER a man who wants to be in her bed.

White men and white woman are DEFINITELY airing their grievances as well. I see ALOT of it on TikTok. The problem, in my opinion, is SOME Black men got real nasty, demeaning and downright disrespectful to Black women. Many Black men 'that didn't agree' but stayed quiet. The disrespect got louder and grew. Then Black women began to defend ourselves (which is typical) verbally and out loud. Now all of a sudden, it's a Black gender war and it needs to stop. It should've BEEN CHECKED by the 'Leaders' to maintain respect and order but that didn't happen. So now, we're here.

I don’t even think it’s about black men not feeling valued, I think it’s about black men valuing white validation over black validation and I say that because historically/ presently there is not one group of women who has publicly demonstrated the amount of love, support, sacrifices, and protection for black men, besides black women. The black woman who went off on Courtney Clenney after the death of Toby obumseli is a prime example of this. So when they criticize our behavior as to why they prefer non black women I can’t help but wonder what it is about the women who birth and raise their oppressors that’s so appealing to them if we’re as bad as they say we are.
@user-hy4ff5mz7r
@user-hy4ff5mz7r 7 ай бұрын
And I don't understand why some Black women came to the defense of Toby Obumseli after social media comments revealed his extreme dislike for Black women in general. It was tragic and unfortunate what happened to him but that shouldn't have been the concern for Black women since he didn't favor us in any way!🤷🏾‍♀️
@Nykesia
@Nykesia 7 ай бұрын
@@user-hy4ff5mz7r That was my exact thoughts but I understand that black women have been socialized and conditioned to praise/ defend black men on autopilot even when it’s to our own detriment while black men are socialized to associate success to non black women. In their eyes, we represent the struggle which is why the starter baby mama’s, wives, and girlfriends of black male celebrities look drastically different from the ones they get after they gain access and wealth. A few years ago a tweet asking black men to compliment black women went viral and literally all the comments were about black women’s strength and ability to endure pain and disrespect while still thriving . We’re nothing more than the sacrificial lambs in our community but the irony in a black woman publicly condemning a white woman for a black men who publicly degraded us is sadly on brand because that’s our relationship dynamic with black men collectively. It’s similar to a DV relationship with a splash of stockholm syndrome.

For a while my husband kept coming to me reminding me that he needed to hear affirmations from me. He said it was his love language to receive thanks and praise in the form of words. And sooo.. I tried to accommodate and affirm how grateful I was for him by speaking it all the time. It started feeling a little unnatural because I usually just thank him when I'm ready to say it or show my appreciation with other gestures. Long story short our marriage fell apart and one major contributor was him stepping out and having a baby by someone else, she was white. Recently we try to work on our marriage but when I had questions and spot it out any hypocrisy he blamed it on the fact that I'm black. He said black women are the only women who won't just shut the F up. Soo yeaaa

I’m sooooo happy someone covered this. I wish more folks realized this! When I see these kinds of things online I hit the Not Interested or Don’t Show Again etc. Like regardless of my perception of any topic, I practice not participating in ANYTHING that involves the conquer & define tactics. Which includes Gender war, colorism, Diaspora wars, age war, classism. It’s just ridiculous & yes absolutely embarrassing. Even if I may agree with the topic, my pride won’t allow me to publicly join in on those convos because they’re generally not intelligent enough to actually come up with real solutions. It’s just a bunch of outlandish back & forth as if folks are more interested in attacking one another rather than finding a common ground. Yes, also. The world sees this. I’ve traveled for 12yrs & folks’ are seeing this & talking about it. Some super negative & others are intellectual enough to examine real issues. 1 of which you’re speaking of today Mr. Shumake.

This reminds me of one of the slogans from George W's campaign "The soft bigotry of low expectations" as they described the way some in the Democratic party cuddled black people. I don't know about other folks, but I NEVER forgot that, and I tell my brother ALL the time, when people keep commenting on how nice you are, it means they don't have anything else to give you credit for. As a man, the motivation to get things down depends on me, not my woman. She keep me motivated, but it's never been the women's job I have been with. You're right, if any woman talks to me like that, I would walk away and/or change the subject. I got what I needed from my parents already.

What's hilarious is if a Black woman said what she's saying, these men would destroy her, call her condescending, nasty, etc. And she thinks she's doing them a favor showing them her skin they love to see, not our skin. I heard someone say that men want to be talked to like a nice lady. I speak softly, but I say what's on my mind. And I want the same.

And this is the direct result of Fathers being absent from the home. Many BM lacked seeing what a man is, how he operates, how he provides and how he shows up. Their only example of a woman is their Mother. They look at all women as needing to operate in a Motherly role to them.
