My jam making history is an old one! In 2011 I appeared on the show Come Dine With Me Canada that actually taped in 2010 - my new friend Graham gave us each a jar of Blackcurrant jam to take home. I couldn't help but notice that I had the same berry bush that he had. A year or so I saw the fruit but had no idea that they were blackcurrants! That year, I rallied the troops aka my Mom and make jam for the first time.
Here are the ingredients and steps to make this recipe!
Blackcurrant Jam
5 cups Blackcurrants
4 cups Sugar
57 gms Pectin
Wash and clean the blackcurrants
Add this to a pot with the sugar and allow the sugar to melt
Stir at intervals for about 15 mins
Switch off the heat and allow the mixture to cool
Process the cooled mixture and add back into the pot
Add the pectin and mix and bring to a rolling boil for one minute
Pour into sterilized jars and cool

OMG! Looks so good. My old aunt just loves black currant jam. I’m always on the lookout to buy her some. I’m not sure I’ve even seen the fruit here to make her the jam! I will try with raspberries my fav but she won’t be interested. Thanks for another simple recipe!

Even though it's a lot of work. You really do have a heart of gold to give it away. The rich color is amazing. I can try this recipe with Saskatoon berries.

Yay I was hoping to get this recipe . Looks absolutely decadent but as we don’t get blackcurrants here , I’ll have to make his with strawberries or something else . Thanks for the recipe ! Wish I could buy some off you 🤤

I made jelly with my currants and made some jars into blackcurrant syrup, sorta like maple syrup. had a bit of competition from the birds and bee's to get the berries.

Hi Annie - I don't - typically this process will increase the shelf life but I always consume this within a year in time for my next batch and it hasn't been an issue.
