This games aesthetic was awesome. The mix of realistic gear and futuristic aspects where perfectly balanced. I used to love calling in the mech suits and getting a bunch of kills.

I loved this game and I played it on PC throughout highschool. I got every single attachment, weapon, equipment, armour, draw item and whatever you could think of that could be bought with free currency I had. Was a big part of my childhood. Was sad to see the PC version die but I’m glad the console version is still around for people to enjoy. Even after all these years I still think BLR is much better than most modern fps games available.

This game was the OG when it was in its prime! 2013-2014 this game stunned with its visuals and combat mechanics which still hold up amazingly well. Sadly it was mismanaged to death by the devs who fucked it up with the Parity (Playstation version) update. They messed up the game balance and the game was shut down as a result. You can still play it through the dedicated Discord group, but it's not the same as the mods, who are trying to rebuild it, still haven't been able to pull all its features back in.

Yo so last I heard there was a studio merging with Zombie to revive the game? This was truly a cyberpunk-esque shooter that you will never really see again. Can't be duplicated.

It's active on PS4, but the Steam version has had the servers shut down and the game is delisted from Steam. Shame on you Hardsuit Labs for killing a great shooter on PC.

@@mq-r3apz291 Very likely it was just recently shut down. I'll have to check for myself in a moment. Also just to be sure, double check you're internet connection, since the PS4 can be really bad about slow connection at times.

@@mq-r3apz291 Okay update. As of yesterday, I was able to get on my PS4 Pro, and I was still able to play Blacklight Retribution online with no problems at all. TDM is the most populated mode currently due to the game's age, but it's playable.

I find that hard to believe this game is extremely dead and only lobby u can get in after a whole bunch of tries is tdm and if u leave that lobby and join back it's putting u in the same session with the same ppl

I used to play this game everyday on pc. It was the only game I played since it was free then they updated the graphics and my parents computer couldn't handle it anymore. I was devastated to find out that the servers shut down on pc since it was and still is one of my favorite games.

Yeah this game popped into my head and now I'm sad knowing that the game isn't available on PC anymore. Stuff like this is why I am slowly becoming abrasive towards "Live service" games like BLR because once the servers get shut down, the game is gone for good, which I really feel isn't fair to all of those that invested so much time and money into them. At the very least, they could have done what Splash Damage did with Dirty Bomb when the game's active service ended, by letting players host their own servers to keep the game alive.

This game is so close to my heart, propably one of the most nostalgia inducing games i have played!!! I also loved the point system and the high stakes of some asshole stealing your mech, after spending those hardearned 3000 points....

it has some bugs but it completely playable and doesnt make it hard with glitches or something. if that changes it would die but its really fun rn. i like how it stays kinda realistic so no glowing guns with laserbeams and what not

@@ItsDazYT I think you can absolutely judge them for being pay2win. Look at counterstrike, dota,TF2, Warframe, Fortnite, pubg, warzone, apex, . You can't or don't have to buy your way to victory in these titles (granted everything past TF2 came out after Blacklight.) Other f2p titles set precedents that you just need to be good to win and the idea that people are ok with p2w features makes me sad, go by hacks then it's basically the same thing since you're paying to win. (Also I wasn't dragging you for length or anything I just saw blacklight in a thumbnail and my mind went scorched Earth for the terrible time I had in it. )
