The satisfaction you felt throughout this build is clear, and the end result is great. I'm excited to see where your change of perspective regarding your kit bashing parts collection takes you. Also, glad to know I'm not the only one who goes through hobby phases, lol. And I completely agree that inspiration is at least as important as instruction! Personally speaking, that's easily the most valuable thing I've gotten from watching your videos.

I highly suggest, if you haven't already done it, the dollar store cottage build. As an also dirt poor college student (who works two jobs and so time for hobbies is also low) I was able to do the build in probably two nights, but about a couple of hours of work. It was really really fun and I enjoyed it so much, especially knowing I didn't break the bank on it

Another one that very few people think about is just that many stores have tons of plastic garbage that actually can easily be repurposed in a creative build. So if you have a friend that works in a store or something similar ask them if you can have some of the plastic waste they get. Like stuff like the plastic tube from a reciept roll or the plastic that holds toothbrushes. Once you get a little bit creative with your sources you can get materials from almost anywhere

“General inspiration is just as meaningful and powerful-if not more so-than direct instruction.” I 100% agree. I am rarely, if ever, going to directly follow someone’s tutorial for making a model. I watch your vids and others for inspiration and new techniques more than anything else!

I *love* kitbashing. Not minis, but I kitbash Gunpla model kits. I love the puzzle-like situations of figuring out how to fit certain pieces while keeping the articulation instead of bluntly gluing, making new connections. This also allowed me to give new life to broken kits or kits which I didn't longer like as much anymore. If I ever got onto minis, it'd be impossible for me to not try to kitbash them as well. Is just so entertaining and cool.

I can totally relate. Another good thing about being into multiple facets of this hobby intersection zone is that when you get a bit burnt out doing one thing you can switch to another and never get burnt out. When I get tired of painting minis, I switch to building terrain, or assembling kits, or 3D printing, and so on. Great video!

Jeremy! I have watched almost all your videos (if not all), since your ship building tutorial from YEARS ago! What's so interesting to me, is I have saved countless of your builds "for another day" to plan to follow the tutorials and yadda yadda... but honestly, I might never do any of that. I have come to the realization that I just like you and your channel -- and as you say, I pull SO MUCH inspiration and joy from just watching you do something and be happy about your build. That makes me happy and that's what inspires me to go do my own thing. Obviously, I learned a lot of great tips from your process and also by watching you fail and find your way out of it -- but at the end of that day I just enjoy you as a person. I relate well and your videos are top notch enjoyable from start to finish. Thanks for doing everything you do and for making videos like these for the community! :)

Thats one of the reasons I back so many 3d file patreons each month. You get so many different sculpts from multiple creators, cut into so many different pieces. I back quite a few kickstarters for that reason as well. Between what I can print and what I have bought from GW and other companies, I have that freedom for whatever. I enjoy everything from building the models to painting, but I cannot just do one thing. I may break from painting for a month or so, but I am always building, printing, planning in the mean time.

When you were talking about needing to jump between different facets of the hobby and try different things... that's me with *all* my creative hobbies, tbh. I'll just cycle through different phases, where sometimes I'm building D&D terrain, then the next few months I'll be knitting or crocheting, then for a while I'll be drawing, and then it's sewing project time, then the holidays will hit and I'll be all about baking... I'm still waiting to cycle back around to making chainmail, but rings are so expensive. So needless to say, I completely empathize with your confusion about how someone can just stick with a single aspect of crafting for tabletop. Basically the way you do it, it's a good three or four different hobbies under one umbrella, which gives you more freedom to focus on whatever you feel inspired to do at the moment, and that really resonates with me.

"Not directly replicable" is fantastic. I don't even paint/build minis at all (preferring either 1/18 figures or 1/64 post-apoc vehicles), but I love it here for the ideas, the inspiration and the tutorials. My skills in my hobby have grown exponentially watching videos on topics outside my direct wheelhouse, but applicable. I also don't understand how folks can pigeon-hole themselves into one genre. I'll customize GI Joes, Marvel/DC, Star Wars, Transformers, etc., in addition to my own creations that may lie outside those or in several. It's too much fun to explore several universes.

I had this problem at first thinking "I can't do this, the model won't be legal" or if I did it, it was because "well the lore supports it because it's Chaos or whatever" but really, for most war gaming, people don't care.
