Today was a groundwork day. So of course there is a lot of groundwork displayed in this video. Just thought I would show a glimpse of a typical day was like at my school. I owe the great film to a great gal named Heather.

I train in JJ, BJJ, and Muay Thai. I like this type of training as it allows you to practice technique after technique and helps you to learn to flow from one technique to the next. After all, every technique does not work every time against every opponent in every situation. So youre always flowing to the next technique, whatever it may be.

hey i like it, dont worry bout these haters. a true martial artist does not show hate towards other martial arts, they respect them.

Japanese Jujitsu is in my opinion the best self defense art out there but it takes a long time to learn it. I have been actively doing it for 9 years and I am only a green belt. I am 16 just so you know...

@BlackShinobiShozoku I appriciate your response, luckily after a little internet scavenging I found a handful of places that I will check out when the time comes. I found one (in manhattan unfortunately) that claims to teach traditional judo, quite expensive, but if it is what it claims to be I would pay whatever is necessary.

Great video shinobi, it reminds me of my old taizen ryu jujutsu class. Seems like most of your critics don't understand that what you practice is aimed toward combat instead of sport. Its apples to oranges

The upside to your style is that your tall and are slim. So with the ground work leg drags, arm drags triangles heel reaps. Leg locks the fact your tall will actually play to your advantage. I don't agree with what someone said previously that BJJ isnt as enjoyable. Ive been training BJJ for 18month and it has a lot of depth Ive tried kempo JJ but found it was good but was quite ridged when adding my Muay that philosophy into the mix when striking.

Hey friend, great video, I presently attend a martial arts school, our school is mostly stand up, our sifu is paranoid about going to the ground, so after spending about 5 years doing what I'm doing with two years left to go I plan start a new art within the next year or so if my financial situation allows me to do so. My question to you is; should I take jujitsu, judo, hkd, or brazilian jujitsu (not a particular fan of bjj)... wanted to take an art with alot of ground work..

i spent 17 yrs on traditional tkd, another 15 on combat sports, some of it concurrent. The quality in combat sports is way higher because they are tested every class, the whole point is sparring, this is only a small ,or often no part of trad rubbish.

@ExposeChosunNinja thanks for the advice bud, luckily I live on long island (right near nyc) so hopefully I can find a traditional judo place if not I think I'll go the way of japanese jujitsu, since it's bjj's pedigree.

Throws can use work. The technique of the hara-goshi throws was very poor, and could have been easily stopped if your partners provided resistance.

Is walking towards somebody with your arm out really the most effective way to spar/train? I've got mad respect for you because you actually fight with your traditional style but I've yet to see any evidence that any traditional martial arts are more effective than boxing/wrestling/BJJ & Muay Thai. I understand that there is an appeal of the tradition and far eastern philosophy but as for being an effective martial art, I think it's lacking.

itf tkd is traditional, very little sport emphasis, all kata and fundamental tech and destruction but yes the name tkd came in 1955 even though the precursors were there for decades before that. The battlefield arts were largely weapon techs, not empy hand because there was little hand to hand in battle, you always had some weapon.Has religion died out because its sheer fantasy,?trad arts are the same.

you didnt break the balance enough prior to entering and the reap was more like a hook, its supposed to completely take the opponent off his feet. The way yore doing it is too slow to work in sparring someone good.

virtually everything was wrong, from the kuzushi onward.Have a look at a good judoka doing the move and compare it to yours, they wont look much the same. The osoto is also wrong youre doing with the yellow belt.I used to do classical jj(ryo shinto ryu) we never sparred, even the coaches couldnt throw a resisting partner when a judoka visited us ,it was embarrassing so I

traditional and koryu arent the same thing,1 refers to an era,the other the way the art is practised and its philosophy.Shotokan for example is trad but not koryu,so is itf style tkd because they dont push sport and the training is very heavy on etiquette and stylised motion with no functional application, its crap for the sake of tradition, not practical. All the 9 kwans (korean karate) and taekyon were its predecessors and they were traditional as well.

whoever youre beating is a novice and useless as well, you wont beat anyone decent while you are making so many basic technical mistakes.I would love to spar with love but im retired now,it wouldnt mean much anyway,a purple belt with 15 yrs grappling and wrestling against a complete novice to the game.

youre a kid at 25 yrs old and a beginner to combat arts, nobody with so little eperience will have any perspective on whats effective.Come back after 5 yrs competing in bjj/grappling and you may have a different attitude,i bet youll have taken those useless videos down by then.
