Wesley Snipes deserved more credit for his performance as Blade. You see other actors get tons of praise for putting in the work in action films, but Snipes was overlooked. It takes a lot of hard work to execute convincing action and hand to hand fight sequences without resorting to camera tricks and stunt doubles. Few actors can pull it off.

Blade is one of the most underrated superhero movies of all time. Thee sheer dedication of Wesley Snipes to make this movie happen should alone tell you how much effort was put into making it. And this was all BEFORE superhero movies were popular or a bankable investment. Kudos to the entire production team to stick to their guns and pull through.

Hard disagree about Stephen Dorff. His petulant demeanor perfectly illustrated the new generation of vampires' way of thinking when contrasted with the ancient, very powerful and yet stagnated generation. And because of that (and his talent in general), he had huge presence in the movie. The cheese is indeed there, but that's the cheese that the whole movie has. He's acting is totally integrated in the atmosphere of the film itself.
@Starlightean3 жыл бұрын
I 100% felt that he was the young entrepreneur changing things and feeling entitled "to an inheritance", and that was the whole idea. It was the new wave who took what they wanted because they could. The cheese was already everywhere in the writing.

I love this movie. Stephen Dorff was great. Some cheap effects, especially at the end as mentioned, but this movie really set the tone for the best of the MCU later on. It took itself very seriously from production to writing, and that made it the gem that it is. 2 destroyed itself through CGI fight scenes, and 3 was just unredeemable crap.

I was lucky enough to be in a presentation of Blade II with Guillermo del Toro and Wesley Snipes and when you see the physicality of Snipes ,like when you shake your hands with him you know that he could crush your hand if he wanted to, you believe things like del Toro telling the audience that they had to slow down the recording speed of Wesley's movements when he fights because he is too damn fast for the camera!

Finally, someone to give Blade a credit it deserves! Blade was, and still is, an awesome action movie, a true popcorn flick with amazing Wesley Snipes in his prime as the title character! The ONLY film in horror/superhero genre better than Blade is its superior sequel, Blade 2, directed by Guillermo del Toro and starring, beside Snipes and Kristofferson, such stellar cast with names like Norman Reedus, Ron Perlman, Tomas Kretchmann, Luke Goss, Leonor Varella...etc...so, Chris...why not do a review of that one, too?

A lot of people give credit to this movie. I don't know anyone who hasn't seen it and not at least enjoyed it. Although it's true that it doesn't get as much recognition as other superhero flicks, among the hardcore fans it's far from underrated. At most, it's underappreciated (and yes, there is a difference).
