Even with Joi that was one lonely guy until he started the hero's journey. Once he had a paradigm shift after meeting Deckard he found a purpose for his life. It's good to have purpose.

5:12 That is what this entire movie is about. What does it mean to be human? Are the replicants worthy to be considered our equals if they exhibit the same emotions, wants, and desires? How about a hologram if it too displays the same? The hard question about Joi is to answer, "was she free thinking, or just programmed to please whomever purchased her?" To this day, I'm not entirely sure, which makes it a compelling feature of the movie worthy of discussion. 9:10 If he can get replicants to procreate, then he can stop making them and just have them reproduce. Unfortunately for the replicants, this would usher in a new age of a subclass of slavery. As the leader of the rebellion said, "Then we are more then just slaves." She gave the memory to lots of people. She escaped hardship in an orphanage and become one of the greatest memory makers. The rebellion leader states it best, "You imagined it was you. We all wish it was us. That's why we believe." Wallace killed the lastest model fo replicant. He sliced her belly because he was upset that she didn't have what was needed to procreate. He said, "Tyrells last achievement." Tyrell was the real genius when it came to the replicants. Walllace was a smart guy, but he just bought the existing technology, unaware of how Tyrell was able to make them reproduce. Also, it is likely only Rachael was able to procreate, because Tyrell was trying to replace his lost niece, I believe. He wanted Rachael to be as human as possible. Wallace is blind, he uses those floating pods to see. Otherwise, what do you think is unnatural about him? Walllace talked about colonizing plants, I think he mentions 7. And he wants to do more, but manufacturing replicants is slow. If he could have them procreate, he could have a massive slave force to colonize more. His intentions are primarily greed. In the beginning of the movie there is text that tells you what is happening. It mentions after several rebellions.......that is why the nexus 8's (those without lifespans) need to be hunted down and retired. The humans are worried about more rebellions. I also don't think Wallace created replicants that "obey." There are several times thoughtout the movie where K lies to his superiors. Lieing is an act of disobediance. Likewise, Luv says to the police woman "Oh, you don't think he will lie. Well, I'm going to say you thretened me and that is why I had to kill you." Wallace didn't produce replicants that obey. He just created the same ones Tyrell did, except they kept a closer eye on them with the screening, "Interlinked, Cells......How does it feel to hold the hand of someone you love, interlinked." K's not supposed to ponder the question, he's suppose to respond, "interlinked," like it doesn't matter to him.

K has the same dna match as the child. That is why he was planted with the memory as he is the/one-of the decoy male(s) (it is hinted that many had the same memory - did you notice Mariette after the duel sex scene notices the horse and has a shocked look of recognition on her face - so perhaps there are many decoys out there). Wallace stated why he wants the child, he stated he cannot make enough of them, so unlocking procreation would be huge for him. Usual motivation - world domination. Not about removing humans, good old fashioned greed. He is afraid Tyrell might have had a backup plan and he will lose the market he currently owns. K finding a purpose and doing the most human thing you can, as stated by Freysa “Dying for the right cause. It is the most human thing we can do”. He dies at the end proving he is more human than human, allowing Deckard to meet his child, perfect ending.

Come for the existential angst/anomie - stay for the giantess imagery fully realized - sigh- seeing this in IMAX was truly amazing - this is a great sequel to a classic film capturing the original's themes & visuals as well as even a stand-alone. Nice that Ford returned as well to show his Deckard having a redemption arc.

"All the courage in the world cannot alter fact." Fun Fact: The Wallace Corporation's alert sound is from Peter And The Wolf (2006). Music Enthusiast Fact: The final scene in the snow uses the Tears In Rain (1982) theme from Blade Runner (1982), referencing Roy Batty's death scene. Whiskey Apology Fact: While shooting a fight scene, Harrison Ford accidentally punched Ryan Gosling in the face. As an apology to his co-star, Ford invited Gosling to share a bottle of Scotch whisky with him and mooned him. Method Actor Fact: In order to portray the blind character of Niander Wallace, Jared Leto decided to fit himself with opaque contact lenses that made it impossible for him to see. Jared Leto used Silicon Valley tech investors and inventors that he personally knows as examples of how Niander Wallace would behave. CGI Double Fact: A visual effects company worked for a full year on the scene in which Rachael (Sean Young) appears exactly as she did 35 years earlier in Blade Runner (1982). Stand-in actress Loren Peta acted out the scene and her appearance was changed through CGI to resemble Young. Rachael's voice was provided by a sound double. Director Denis Villeneuve purposely limited the number of Rachael's shots and gave the visual effects team ample time to work, to avoid the criticism that the digitally re-created Carrie Fisher and Peter Cushing in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) had drawn. He said the result was mesmerizing.

From what I interpreted, Deckard’s daughter does not know anything about the uprising of the replicants. All of this was planted long ago by Deckard and a few trusted friend. Deckard was once a Blade Runner, therefore, he must know how to scramble the data by creating a copy of his daughter’s data, but changed the gender to male. He than declared that the girl was death, so that if someone is looking into this, they will go after the boy, not his daughter. Deckard then some how planted the memory of his daughter to a random replicant, in the hope that if someone found out, they will go after him and his daughter would be safe. Essentially, Joe is only a pawn in this plan. But then coincidentally, Joe became the Blade Runner that handled the case.

Deckard was a replicant. In an upgraded video version you can see Deckard having a dream about a unicorn and the fact that Gaff made a unicorn origami as a calling card to Deckard would imply Gaff knew Deckard's intimate dreams. It's against the law for a human to invade the private mind of another human but not a replicant who would have all his false memories on a police file, which Gaff would be allowed to know. Remember, they used replicants to go after other replicants because humans would never do that job themselves.

i see no reason to not take wallace at his word -- that he just wants a way to churn out replicants in far greater numbers than he could build from scratch. but without knowing anything about replicant "manufacturing", i can't presume that wallace (or tyrell) already knows how to accelerate replicant growth. because if he doesn't know, then what's the point of birthing a generation of slaves if you have to wait 15-20 years before they're fully capable of adult labor?

He killed the first one was just like to test if replicant fight back, like product testing in real life. He want replicant can be produce so human can conquer the universe. Send millions replicant to space take time and money, if they can produce, human can send the first thousand to a planet and let that community rise by itself. More efficient. No, there will be some human empathy with replicant but the whole humanity will not. Replicant is stronger in every way, it will be the end for mankind if replicant can run free.

Deckard is a replicant. You were shown this in the first movie with lots of subtle clues throughout the movie and at the end you were outright told this by the unicorn origami and Gaff, the origami man. Tyrell managed to get two replicants to procreate, Deckard and Rachael. Wallace has been trying and failing to figure out how to make this possible. That’s why he wants the child, so he can figure out what Tyrell did differently to make procreation possible. Wallace can’t make replicants fast enough to meet the market demand for them. If he could get them to procreate then he would be able to meet market demand and rake in the profits.

No, he isn't, it isn't shown in here, it isn't shown in the original, It's just a stupid Ridley Scott idea, that's why he added all that unicorn crap in re-cuts Ridley Scott didn't understand this story and what is a replicant, so better follow what the writers of the original Blade Runner wanted and of course, what Phillip K. Dick meant... If you follow Ridley Scott dumbness you'll end in a cul-de-sac, which is what happened with all those absurd editings Scott made of Blade Runner. A story about the meaning of humans and replicants being equal in dignity and morality transformed in a racist fable. That's what Ridley Scott achieved, all because he wanted Deckard to be a replicant. But If Deckard was a replicant, then killing the other replicants loses its meaning, we couln't appreciate why killing them is bad, unless you think they deserved to die... and there you got racism.

@@JulioLeonFandinho The whole point of the story is racism is bad. Heh. It is nothing but commentary on slavery and racism. That you can’t understand that Deckard is a replicant doesn’t mean he isn’t. Wallace wouldn’t want replicant-on-replicant procreation if he could just bang replicants himself to get them pregnant. He would have no need to investigate what Tyrell managed to do if humans could simply get replicants pregnant. His whole goal is to figure out how to get replicants to procreate, and he’s angry that he hasn’t been able to figure it out yet. If it were as simple as a human getting a replicant pregnant he would’ve already accomplished that. Obviously they’re different enough that it doesn’t work. Hence trying to get the child to figure out what Tyrell figured out that he’s been missing. The “it makes the story worse if Deckard is a replicant” argument always makes me laugh. It doesn’t make it worse. It reinforces the main commentary against racism. It reinforces the main commentary against slavery. It reinforces the commentary on how nobody should be treated as worse than. That you think the unicorn is the only clue is hilarious. There are a lot of clues throughout the entire movie. “It is based on PKD’s book (it isn’t a book, it is a short story) and so the book is what matters” also makes me laugh. This is a movie based on the short story, not a word-for-word recreation of it. Whether or not Deckard is a replicant in the short story is irrelevant. In the movie he is a replicant. Period. I did a paper in college on the short story versus the movie, comparing and contrasting them, so I have read it more than a few times and have seen the movie literally hundreds of times, including all the various edits. I’m quite familiar with them and what they talk about and what they comment on. Trust me, you do not understand it as well as you think you do, or you wouldn’t be shouting the same incorrect stuff that people like you always do. In Blade Runner, Deckard is indeed a replicant. There is no doubt or debate, as all the evidence clearly points it out. Sorry, but you’re wrong. The unicorn was introduced later on specifically for people like you that missed all the other clues as a slap to wake you up. But you’re still sleeping. The evidence is quite clear. That you didn’t catch it doesn’t change it.

@@ClaytonMacleod Blade Runner is about racism as a corolary of what is a human being. Ridley Scott, like you, became a racist by misunderstanding the whole thing. If it looks like a human, behaves like a human, thinks like a human, feels like a human... IT IS a human. Replicants are, as a matter of fact, humans. There's no need to make Deckard (which is DESCARTES, and there you have a clue) a replicant, If that's how it is, then you're keeping the limits between humans and replicants, and those limits are being constantly trespassed and broken down, because they doesn't exist. That's in the movie all the time, with the pictures of memories, the desire to live (which philosopher Spinoza called "conatus" as something inherently human), the capability of replicants of loving and so on... Do you get that? the excuse of racism is, precisely, that non-whites aren't humans, against all evidence. There you have the abomination that it is Ridley Scott dumbness. And then you're telling me you did a paper about it. What do I care? give me your arguments now and discuss mine, instead of saying "I wrote an essay and blahblahblah". How can someone give an authority fallacy being himself the "authority"? 🤡🤡🤡💩💩

@@Mrwhomeyou thanks, you said it better than anyone here, It's replicant vs replicant, no humans in the equation. Explain to the racism smartass how that makes the movie a racist movie... Instead of all being humans even if ones were born from a woman and the others from a laboratory, now we have to different classes of living beings, the superior class (humans) and the inferior, with implanted memories and "fake" sentient qualities 🤦
