The plaintiff and defendant were married for almost 14 years. She says the defendant was abusive and an alcoholic, but a good father to their four children. They broke up when the ex-husband left her for another woman. One of their sons died after falling off a rock formation, and she’s suing her ex for that son’s funeral expenses. The defendant argues the plaintiff left him several times during their marriage. He argues the plaintiff failed to supervise their kids prior to their son’s death. He’s countersuing for breach of fiduciary duty.

They both most certainly had issues up the WAZZOO! Neither was however responsible for the accidental death of their son. BOTH WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CHILD’S FUNERAL EXPENSES! If it takes the defendant a year to pay, SO…BE…IT!!!!!!!!!!

it sounds like he lied about having insurance and never had insurance to begin with. He said he only worked 2 days a week, part-time people usually don’t get employer benefits…sad he didn’t want to help with his son’s expenses

Right that’s what I was thinking usually if you’re a part time employee you don’t get the full benefits package offered . Smh it’s sad tho because that’s his son too and his effort has been minimal of not any to help with his burial . RIP to their baby boy 🖤🙏🏿💙

See that's why I tell my clients that they can't rely soley on Life Insurance through their employers. Get some insurance on your own, anything can happen to that job and your family is left with absolutely nothing. My condolences on your loss. Hope she finds her own peace.

@@NKAB4 I'm saying that Life Insurance through your employer is good but is only active as long as you're with that company. It's group insurance and a lot of people aren't sure what type of coverage they have with them. So you are under the impression that you're paying for Life Insurance and it's only Accidental which means that your family gets paid only if it's an accident. You can have as many policies as you wish to cover all of your assets including your home as long as you can make the premium payments. Having your own personal insurance ensures that if you leave that job and pursue something else, you will still be covered. Some policies also comes with living benefits so if a critical or chronic illness was to occur, you could tap into you benefits and still pay your bills. Other policies allow you to build cash value that you can also use while living.

The defendant is a real p.o.s. How can he call himself a father when he neglected his sons funeral expenses and left the mother to pay for everything. I feel like he worked those low hours to try to not pay for anything. Also, how is he gonna blame the mother for their sons death ?!?! Like Judge Mathis said, "If you was there instead of running off with other women, maybe this wouldn't have happened." He is low down and a alcoholic, and the kids obviously don't want anything to do with him.
