I like the mildness. It seemed like a reverse Old Dark Fired. With mostly Virginia's and a hint of Kentucky. Good blend.

Pardon me for dipping in here, just a new man looking into the pipe. 43 yo man and smoked from the start of cigarettes. I want to quit the cigarettes but not the habit. Want to learn all the lessons of proper pipes and tobacco. Thanks for the proper education and help, to all. Thank you. Hope you get better Sir.

🗡️🗡️🗡️ A good blend for an experienced smoker, better when aged. Mine is aged about a year or so. If smoked too fast it can bite. The taste is fine but for the money I think there are better Virginia flakes out there. I don't really taste the Dark Fried Kentucky as much as I would like. A good blend for aging if you are into cellaring tobacco but for a new smoker I would buy a good Virginia blend or a DFK blend like the HH series from MacBarren or Peterson Irish Flake(DFK blend) for bulk Sutliff: Virgina Slices or Dark Fire Cured. If you are willing to take a chance I'd buy Cowboy Coffee from The Country Squire. That has the DFK in a blend but it's not overpowered.

😎😎😎😎 such a good blend. Not being a fan of Burley I was hesitant but I decided to try it. The Virginia comes through sweet and bready to me. I can’t pinpoint the DFK but I guess I’m a fan of DFK now!

🤠🤠🤠🤠I enjoyed this much more than I anticipated. It burned well and smoked easily. I typically don’t favor blends with DFK, but perhaps the combination with Virginia struck the right balance. It was initially not particularly impressive, but as I got through the bowl I realized I was enjoying it enough that I decided to have another! This isn’t at the top of my list, but I would not be disappointed if this was one of few I had regularly available.

👹👹 I’ve never found a blend by Newminster that I’ve liked. They always smoke harsh-and plenty of better options are out there for everything they make.

💨💨💨 I enjoyed this blend very much. The first time was just fold and stuff and it was not so good. My 2nd bowl was crumbled and it smoked and tasted a lot better.

Hi there new pipe smoker here. Do you feel like in house blends (blends that are in a tobacco shop) are any good? Or do you feel like main brands are better? I've only tried the blends that the tobacco shop have in glass jars. Just curious

Hi Marth. I’m fairly new too. I have tried several bulk blends and quite a few house blends on my journey. Most of the house blends I have tried came from Boswell’s or the country squire. I have liked nearly all of them. Same with bulk blends. Some tinned tobaccos can be bought in bulk and live in the jars you are describing. Buying an ounce at a time to try blends is a good option imo. Some will take several bowls to find the nuances and tastes.

How would you compare that to Davidoff medallions? I popped a tin of it recently and it smelled amazing. It's the most biting tobacco I've ever smoked, and I smoke Virginias almost exclusively.

@@Piper_John After 2-3y in a jar, LBF is amazing. Smooth, mellow, deep flavor. That was optimal for me. After 4y the flavors seemed muted a little.
