DCEU movies ranked 1. Zack Snyder's Justice League (now this is the Justice League movie that we deserved after that crappy mess that we got back in 2017. Despite it being four hours long, the story itself was pretty great. Steppenwolf was a much better villain here and every member of the Justice League, especially with Cyborg, got their moment to shine) 2. Aquaman (rather the most comic accurate of all the live action DC films with a solid story, great music, visuals, characters, and action as well as the hero's journey of the titular character in Aquaman) 3. Man of Steel (a really good reimagining of Superman with a great origin story, action, music, visuals, and villain in Zod) 4. Wonder Woman (a good origin story for the titular character as Gal Gadot does a great job in the role, but Ares is easily the worst part of the film) 5. The Suicide Squad (definitely an improvement over its predecessor as it has a more interesting storyline, good use of characters, and pretty good comedy) 6. Shazam! (a good solo film for this character with a lighthearted tone. My only problem with this film is that i think the comedy is a bit too much) 7. Wonder Woman 1984 (while there are certainly some problems in the writing, i still overall enjoyed this film as Gal Gadot continues to shine in the titular role and her chemistry with Chris Pine was spot on. I also like the message of this film as it pretty much was good timing to hear it during this yearlong disease) 8. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (unnecessary storylines in this movie that really should not be in for a second film of this universe along with Lex Luthor being horribly potrayed. Despite that, this was rather a good introduction for Batman and Wonder Woman as well as having great visuals and action) 9. Birds of Prey (if this is a film mainly about the titular team, WHY is Harley Quinn the overall main character of the film? I don't get that at all. The story, characters, action, and villains were fine, but nothing really special) 10. Suicide Squad (this movie really just tells an uninteresting story of the titular team with a forgettable main villain. Not to mention the fact that Joker was also horribly potrayed like Lex Luthor)

DCEU main villains ranked 1. Ocean Master (the most comic accurate of all the main villains in this list in terms of his costume and his motivations as Patrick Wilson does a good job in the role) 2. Zod (a great villian with such an understandable motivation to keep his people safe as well as wanting to bring back his home planet) 3. Steppenwolf (after watching the Snyder Cut, we finally got a much better good looking design of Steppenwolf with clearer motivations. As such, he turned out to be a pretty good villain that the Justice League has encountered) 4. Thaddeus Sivana (a good potrayal of the character that serves as a dark parallel to Billy Batson) 5. Starro (really surprised on how James Gunn adapts this character onto the big screen. Although i think he should have gotten more screentime, i overall like Starro's design and the conflict he brings to the film with his spores) 6. Thinker (while not as good as Neil Sandilands' potrayal of the Thinker, i say that Peter Capaldi did a fairly decent job in the role and i like how he was connected to Starro) 7. Maxwell Lord (although it would've been better to have Cheetah as the big bad of WW84, but overall Maxwell Lord was a fine villain who has made more of a presence and character development in his own film than Ares) 8. Ares (he had some good dialogue and action scenes, but he lacks character development in the fact that it was so random for Sir Patrick Morgan to be revealed as Ares. Not to mention the fact that Ares' design does not look anything like his comic book counterpart) 9. Black Mask (Ewan McGregor does fine in the role, but Black Mask really shouldn't have been killed) 10. Lex Luthor (although i kinda like how crazy and hyper Lex Luthor is, this is obviously not what the character is supposed to be and Jesse Eisenberg was more suited to be the Riddler of the DCEU) 11. Enchantress (not an interesting villain at all)

Fun Fact. Harley Quinn grabbing the keys with her toes, and then unlocking her cuffs, was 100% Margot. No stuntwoman or wires. James Gunn said his biggest regret, is that her face gets covered and you can't tell its actually her for the entire scene, cause he said it was mesmerizing watching her do it herself, without wires or a stuntwoman.

I was most amazed by Cena's ability to not only act as a brilliant comedic presence, but also has enough physical presence to command the screen when he double-crosses the team and seem intimidating as hell. He did a hell of a job. Polkadot Man and Ratcatcher were two characters I was surprised by too; they're wonderful characters. Reworking Flagg into a laid back and charismatic presence helped a lot too. The individual work was super solid all the way through and every actor killed it.

Have to disagree with some of y’all about James Gunn/the movie not giving us a reason to care about these characters… they were given so much depth and development that I couldn’t help but care for all of the main members of the team. Rick Flag was improved in every way, Polka Dot Man’s origin with his mom experimenting on him, Rat Catcher losing her loving dad/seeing the good in people/rats, King Shark being an outsider/alone, Blood Sport’s ruthless nature stemming from his dad’s treatment of him, and even Peacemaker’s idea of keeping the peace no matter the cost was perfectly written imo.

I dont want any of the kid shit where people come back from outta nowhere. That would ruin the heaviness of character deaths. Gotta appreciate each suicide squad member while they are on screen because each second may be their last. That's the special uniqueness of suicide squad, dont try to take that away.

@@futuretrunks9257 If a character dies brutally, but gets brought back, that doesn't exactly make it PG. And bringing characters back to life isn't "kid shit" at all. Its only kid shit if said character is brought back for no good reason, or doesn't have a good explanation as to how said character is brought back. DC could do something similar to how Marvel did with Loki. Boomerang comes back through Flash Point but because of something he does himself not because the Flash purposely goes out to save him. I think that would be cool and a non "kid shit" way of bringing him back. And you make it seem like if one character comes back that it means every character gets brought back or that every character has a chance of getting brought back, but that really isn't the case at all. Bringing one Suicide Squad character back in a completely different movie, doesn't "ruin the point of the suicide squad". The point of the Suicide Squad is that a lot of the members end up dying, and bringing Captain Boomerang back doesn't change that. The only case of what you're thinking of, happening, is if they did another Flash Point movie after every Suicide Squad movie, and that's obviously not the case.

@@lilsavage9946 Bro suicide squad members should stay dead so the intensity of the suicide squad remains. I dont care how the reason, they should stay dead. Too many times in comic book media where dead people come back to life, that's happened so many times. I prefer doing something new like having alot of characters die for good. Thata literally the whole point of suicide squad. I wouldnt mind seeing them in Flashpoint universe though since that's a whole different timeline but in the main timeline everyone that dies should remain dead. Having people die on screen and come back is wack asf for a R rated movie. Your talking about kid friendly Marvel and I'm just trying to keep the suicide squad grounded and gritty. As good of a character Boomerang is, I think I speak for many when I say suicide squad should be a franchise of people dying without coming back, like the source material.
@lilsavage9946
@lilsavage9946 2 жыл бұрын
@@futuretrunks9257 Again, when did I say that everyone was going to get brought back? When did I say that every Suicide Squad member isn't going to stay dead? For some unknown reason you seem to think that "Captain Boomerang is back, oh so they pretty much just revived the entire suicide squad?" Also wtf is up with you and Marvel? You act is if Marvel movies can't be gruesome(and I mean have you not watched any Dead Pool movie? It seems like your problem is with the MCU not Marvel) and you're acting as if a character dying a bloody gorey death but being brought back to life suddenly makes it PG. Do you even know what rated R or gritty means? And no, what they actually mean, not what they mean in your head. Think logically for a second. How would bringing Boomerang back in Flash Point get rid of the intensity of the suicide squad? Every suicide squad character can still die for good at any moment, the intensity is still there. And unlike Boomerang, they can't get brought back unless there's another Flash Point movie or if there's another DC movie about time travel, which will likely not be happening. And the only reason I'm even suggesting Boomerang specially to be brought back in Flash Point, is because unlike the others, he's actually a villain of the Flash.

I can't believe I actually felt sorry for Polka Dot Man. The CGI people behind King Shark deserve some awards for the job they did, they went above and beyond in the design to change how light would show on his skin due to the dermal denticles and to include the ampullae of lorenzini under his nose and across his cheeks. I've seen a few Sharks done in CG by people that have ignored the smaller aspects of Shark anatomy and it ruins them, but in this case they've done an amazing job.

I do disagree with Rick, I think this film has so much heart. The little choices they made to the characters gave them so much depth to me. Like Bloodsport being presented as this badass but he’s scared of rats, and has his own “daddy issues” which leads into him being a terrible father. Ratcatcher 2 being sleepy and lazy all the time, as well as caring about all her teammates made her really endearing. And I loved the relationship between Bloodsport and Ratchatcher 2, they had a really great dynamic and she made him care more about the team. Ratcatcher 1’s speech about if rats have purpose then we all do, really got me

Even the ones who died in the beginning had enough character in their actions or dialogue to give you an idea of who they were so they weren't interchangeable. Blackguard is a D-Bag who likes to mess with people and is ultimately out for himself, but doesn't think things through (Even if he didn't get shot in the face, Waller would have just activated his bomb). Mongal is all about fighting and totally fearless, but she acts before she thinks and that ends with her not only causing the most collateral damage, but gets herself and Boomer the messiest deaths in movie. TDK is a guy who's completely unaware of just how limiting and borderline useless his power is in a combat situation to the point of being shockingly confident. Javelin is a flirt, but friendly and seems to take his impeding death in stride and passes on his weapon to someone he trusts even though he only met them a few hours ago. And Savant is a guy who's in control until things go completely off the rails and causes him to snap under the stress and try to escape by any means even when it's clear there's no way out. Also if those snippets of his file hold any weight he suffers from PTSD which really wasn't a good fit for this kinda mission. And Weasel is...a borderline animal in his mentality and behavior. Basically what you see is what you get.

If you put the movie side-by-side with itself, and play one of the movies 8 minutes before Peacemaker is about to shoot Ratcatcher 2 (with this side following Peacemaker, Ratcatcher 2, and Rick Flag), and play the other movie at exactly the "8 minutes earlier" mark (this side following Harley Quinn, Bloodsport, and Polka-Dot Man), they'll end up in the same place: with Bloodsport falling just in time to save Ratcatcher 2 (not perfectly, but definitely close!). To Aaron, What?!?! Starro wasn’t treated as a twist reveal or anything; it just was the main threat of the movie. I didn’t get mad at Thor: Ragnarok's trailers for showing Hela or at Spider-Man: Homecoming for showing the Vulture. If it had shown Peacemaker fighting Rick Flag (in a prominent way) or something, then yeah it would be a spoiler, but just showing the main threat in your movie in a trailer? How is that a spoiler? In terms of character deaths, there’s no way to market this movie without showing who lives and who dies… at least they did kill everyone off quickly instead of trying to make you feel tense about who’d live and who’d die. And then complainint in about jokes? Well, let's see here… the trailers aren't allowed to show the villain; they aren't allowed to show the deaths; they aren't allowed to show the character scenes because then it would hint at who lives and who dies? WHAT CAN THE TRAILERS SHOW?!?! Aside from Harley's escape (which I will admit is kind of a spoiler), I'd say the trailers did a pretty good job of not spoiling stuff that actually mattered: Peacemaker, deaths in the core cast, character arcs. Aaron honestly should just stop doing trailer reactions so he can go into movies completely blind.

I think Rick and I fundamentally enjoy movies and tv storytelling completely differently. For him, everything needs to make sense and be explained, but for me, the reason why this movie works so well for me is because it gives into its own premise completely and wholeheartedly. He doesn't much care about stuff being realistic, but just wants to have at least some grounded elements so you can actually get attached to the characters in a story. Generally, I agree with him on that sentiment, but I also love crazy absurdist stuff.

I loved the look on all your faces right before Polka-Dot Man died, that was me watching this the first time, so obvious what was coming and so sad when it happened, but at least he went out finally happy about his existence and he got some damage in on Starro. Also if you haven't already watched the video IGN posted with David Dastmalchian talking about his DC roles I'd highly recommend it, not just because he's a great actor but he also talked about how dealing with the skin condition vitiligo his whole life added to playing the role of Polka-Dot Man, and that makes me appreciate his performance even more than I already did.

@@damonestephens8722 I can get that, I was surprised how much Flag's death hit since I didn't care about him in the first film compared to this one, but Polka-Dot Man's death I found sadder since he was easily the most tragic character. Despite the dark humor to his death, which I agree definitely was there, he had an entire life of nothing but pain and misery, and found no value in himself, only to finally change that seconds before he dies. Either way I'm glad only he and Flag were the big deaths out of the main seven squad members since they were both very emotional and impactful deaths, which I don't think would've been the case if say only two characters lived.

@@tauhid9983 Yeah I get that with a lot of things I watch, there was that definite moment of 'okay here it comes, they're dead' but at least it was impactful, Polka-Dot Man's death I saw coming a mile away but I was still pissed and sad once it happened. I can overlook the slight predictability with his and Flag's deaths since they were still impactful both to the audience and the characters in the film, Harley and Bloodsport both grieved for Flag and Ratcatcher 2 not only gets a full shot grieving Abner, but I'm pretty sure she carries that piece of his costume all the way till the very end when they're on the transport, I appreciated that detail.

I love that Bloodsport doesn't feel like carbon copy of Deadshot, even though thematically he is. I wish that Starro wasn't spoiled in the trailers. I also wish the Justice League would have shown up and stopped Starro (like that famous cover), taking the win from the Squad, and continuing the outcasts and losers aspect of the team.

I love this movie so much! The only thing I didn’t like was that they killed my boy Captain Boomerang without a second thought.

29:08 - in answer to why Bloodsport's nano grenade launcher is spinning at the end, that final attachment acts as a gyroscope. Those arms serve a very simple purpose: exert a high enough centripetal force that any recoil is nullified and Bloodsport's aim and rate of fire is improved. You can see that in effect when he fires the gun and is able to keep doing so while advancing.

*Ratcatcher-2 was the heart and drama of this movie, Polka Dot Man was the love, King Shark was the friendship and joy, Rick Flag the brave, Peacemaker the comedy, Harley Quinn were the fun and Bloodsport was the action and force, The Suicide Squad is Life. Thank you James Gunn and John Murphy*

For me, this is THE top DC movie in this “universe” if that’s even still a thing we can say.

I absolutely LOVE this film and knew I would going into it. James Gunn and that beautifully twisted, detailed mind of his... I love even more. He made me feel real emotion for all the characters, the unknowns got new appreciation and the old were adored even more. And I will be forever be thankful that Gunn showed Harley for the intelligent, independent badass woman she is. Not some sidekick fangirl of Joker who comes off dense as shit. Hopefully there is a second film, because I want more King Shark. 😁😁
