It’s that time of year again! Blueberry Season here In Wisconsin. Time to head to Blueberry Haven to pick more blueberries. This recipe for blueberry pie is made with frozen blueberries, but you can use the same recipe using fresh blueberries 🫐 Also, you can make a homemade crust made with crisco or make a homemade butter crust. Blueberry Pie
Homemade (Double) Pie Crust, Link follows
6 cups fresh/frozen blueberries
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 Tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 Tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon lemon zest
egg wash: 1 large egg beaten with 1 Tablespoon milk
coarse sugar for sprinkling on crust

Adjust the oven rack to the lower third position.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Place baking sheet on the bottom oven rack to catch any blueberry juices.
Line glass 9” pie plate with bottom crust. Set aside.
Make the filling: Stir the blueberries, sugar, flour, cornstarch, cinnamon, lemon juice, and lemon zest together in a large bowl. Mix together until it’s no longer dry and powdery. Spoon filling into bottom pie shell. Top with second pie crust. Make an x in the top or cut out a small circle. Flute or crimp the edges with a fork or spoon. Place a tin foil shield around the crust edges. Lightly brush the top of the pie crust with the egg wash. Sprinkle with coarse sugar.
Bake the pie at 425°F for 25 minutes; then, keeping the pie in the oven, reduce the oven temperature down to 375°F. Continue baking the pie until the filling’s juices are bubbling everywhere, including in the center, for an additional 30-40 minutes. Frozen berries take longer to bake than fresh berries. Adjust cooking time accordingly
