They made the right call, turns out some one wired the alternator pig tail backwards(2 wires)

Thanks for the video Brian. I have a 2005 express van and a 2008 trailblazer 4200 and both of them charge above 15 volts on cold start. After 5 minutes or so they calm down to 14.5 or so. The first Chevy I owned that did this was a 2005 Astro van. I thought for sure the alternator was bad or I had a voltage drop issue. Everything tested out ok and I got used to it. I have heard that it is a desulphate strategy but couldn’t find good information to back it up.

So i talked to the shop the other day, Someone wired up the pigtail for the alternator backwards, after they fixed they said the charging voltage went lower faster. Interesting to learn about some of the logic / strategies for a simple charging system!

Brian, i see you had to use two tools on this vehicle. The GM MDI 2 ? and the tech2. Do you recommend purchasing both tools? I currently have a cardaq plus 3. Is the tech2 needed to work on older Chevy trucks like a 2008 trailblazer?

Tech 2 win is a windows based software tool, the mdi 2 is whatvi used to connect the tech 2 win tithe vehicle .
