Finally, someone that knows their ass from their elbow. Ran into the same issue with my wife's 2014 Escape. Went into a store and came back out to the exact same symptoms you experienced. Played with every fuse relay ans connection I could find. Parking lot and very few tools gave me no other choice. Exactly what happened here, when you barely brushed the connection from the + terminal to the mega fuse buss panel (someone smack the crap out of the engineer that came up with that crappy design. A piece of sheet metal? Really?) led to removal of the air box and access to the battery. As soon as I pressed even a tiny on that sheet metal the vehicle would start. Not having my multimeter I had to assume the fuse was bad. As soon as I moved the yellow wire up to the top side of the buss it cured everything. When I got home I tested continuity through the fuse and sure enough all over the place. That led me to discard an assumption most of us have. Yes a fuse can have an intermittent open. Not often but obviously it can occur. Thanks for the insightful video from a real tech! Much appreciated.

Brian great video , i wonder why the vehicle identified a open circuit ground instead of an open on the power side . I thought with all the bias voltage circuit checks done on most newer and even older vehicles it should have been able to identify it correctly . Thank you for your time your case studies are always very interesting .

Simple brake light always makes me pop a bulb in first ever since that corolla I replaced pcm in that you came out and flashed. I know you remember that one.

That’s what we just dealt with. It’s the plate in the front of the battery box. Called the high current junction box

Hey, Brian! I can see in the video that the fuse in question is on the yellow wire and that it's a 50 Amp fuse but, what's the voltage rating on that fuse? My wife's 2016 Escape is doing this very exact same thing and I'm having trouble finding the correct fuse to replace hers. Do you happen to know the voltage rating of this fuse or have a link where I can order the same one you used to fix this Escape? So glad I found this video!!!

Omg!!! My best friend had same issue with his vehicle he brought vehicle to dealer and this people him 5 hour of electrical diagnostic, module next to battery , the BCM, and the same fusible link all this is a wrong doing from a local ford dealership technician total cost $2,700 ......I tried to fixed for him and save all this money...I couldn't duplicate problem..I wished I could've seen video before I did search 😢😢😢

hey brian I'm having a problem with my Ford Escape 2013 sel1.5 the serptine belt snapped and started to smoke . i repaired it and trey to start but it didnt start it cranks . i called ford they said it could be the kill switch but i cant find it would you be able to kind me in the right direction ? \

Thought was no start intermittent? It’s maybe not communicating with key ECM

The cpu needs to be reset anytime a battery charge.

FOUND PROBLEM WITH USED CAR WHY PUSH BUTTON START!!!! THEY HAD A COMPANY CALLED "SURETRAC" INSTALL GPS TRACKER AND HAD CUT WIRES TO PUSH START SO IT WOULD LOSE CONNECTION WITH KEYFOB/KEYLESS REMOTE AND WOULD CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING OR NOT START, INTERMITTENTLY!!!!
