Very enlightening video Kempton. I own the Zhiyun Crane 2 gimbal with the follow-focus feature. Can you please tell me how can rig my cam/gimbal so that I can use the gimbal to access the menu and adjust things like ISO, aperture, WB? I highly appreciate it!

Hi, I am building my own version of this. Do you think that a 10turn linear 10k rotary potentiometer would work better here for focus. I build this with a rotary pot for focus, but it is not great.

Hello, my guess would be that using a 10 turn pot would not help. Different lenses respond differently to being controlled this way, some work better than others. An Arduino controller can be programmed to give you much more precise control, but that is a whole different project.

Hi. Thanks for your Video. Due to i have no idea how to set up a remote controler with arduino i want to try the following to get more channels. Is it possible to use tha lanc functions for start/stop, Iris, Zoom and Focus and then use the "Button" functions for shutter and white balance? If this is technical possible then would awsome to modify a cheap lanc controler and a button box. What do you think?

It is definitely possible to use LANC alongside PWM controls. Personally, I have not explored LANC much, but I have used a SBus signal converter along with servo testers to control Focus, Zoom, Iris, and Audio, and then continued to use a latching switch for Record on/off, and pushbutton switches for WB, Shutter Angle, and ISO. Thats another perfect way. so with this kind of converters you have all functions in one. For buttons short directly to ground and for trimers you use servo testers. all the same as you show in the video. just one input. i am not that electronic expert but i will test it out. for my needs i will split the housing. the start/stop button ona right hand grip also the focus and on left side grip zoom. all others which i dont have to change often maybe on the top. i will see the setup when practicising....

I know this question is probably dumb but how is the remote powered? I've tried linking a servo wire (for example servo 3) to one of the ground Leeds and assigned that servo to record as a test and nothing happens.
