Hey guys, we had to put brand new rear shocks on this 2007 BMW 328XI AWD. The old ones were completely shot, in pieces. I do not even know how they drove the car like that. So we decided to show you how to replace change rear shock strut on BMW E90. It might be very close procedure for the coupe and the rear wheel drive models as well.

I've been watching a shit load of auto repair you tube videos for long long time now, for years and years! I'm in Charleston SC and been working on all sorts of cars, trucks, motorcycles at home and been a home mechanic for about 15 or 20 years now, as well. Got a lot of tools built up now. Got a bunch of Haynes manuals, lots of fsm's, all data diy subscriptions, I've worked at few shops, it's just years and years of workin on cars. Dude, I've seen a lot of u tube vids! So, with that said, I wanted to tell you that you have done, and are doing, some great videos! Some of the best that I've watched prior to fixing some of the vehicles that come my way. Yours are def very, very good. And, I'm very impressed with your effort and would love it if you would keep up that good work! I know it's a bitch to film while you're trying to get shit done but you continue to do it! And you do very, very well at it! If I were you(and your helper guy), I wouldn't pay not ONE little, single, tiny bit of attention to any thumbs down, any negative bull shit or any shit talkin comments! I'd keep on keepin on my friend! Thanks for all your extra effort to take videos of what you do! To do that is kind, it's commendable and it's a BIG ass help to a lot of people! I just bought a 2007 328xi, and I got burned for a new thermostat and water pump within the first week. Needless to say, I'm looking to do more things myself that I'm capable of doing. Thank you for your videos.... you guys rock.

FYI: As I was following your video and repeating the process with my car I noticed that the part your had difficulty removing with the torx T40 at 2:10 does not has to be removed completely, just remove the torx screw and remove the top black plate with a slotted screwdriver,, very very easy. The back of the bracket can remain mounted in the trunk as you remove the side panel without any effort. At least that was the case with my 2006 330i. Again thanks for the excellent video!!!

Don't forget to replace the bump stock, dust cover, upper and lower shock mounts. Not absolutely necessary, but after having done this on my own car, I would recommend it.

MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE SHOCK MOUNTS! These can rust out and need replacing! (Lower shock mounts)

I know I need to do shocks on my car but there's a weird bell like dinging when I go over bumps. Kinda sounds like the back...used to hear it every now and then but not enough to really bother or notice but now that my shocks are bad its every bump there's a dinner bell ding ...any ideas?......update.....I'm missing 2 bolts that go into ...control arm? ....its LOOSE JIGGILING AROUND

I’m having problems with the new shock absorber it doesn’t spring enough so I can’t get a screw in the top and bottom to lock it in place only on one end, any ideas?

It should, seems like it might be the wrong one or the dust cover isn’t fully seated on the tops half of the shock. Maybe you have it upside down, not sure. Good luck!

Yes I did fix it! My issue with my set was the washer/nut at the top wouldn’t screw on all the way and kept shooting through. Replaced with new one and it holds just fine now
