It worked on my 2005 X5. Window seal is a bit different than what's shown in the video and the pliers tended to slip. Had to cycle window more than half a dozen times before it finally came up. Excellent tip. Thank you!

Worked like a charm, thanks! I had an easier time getting them into the very back corner btw, there's a small gap there so you're not fighting the weather stripping to get them in. Also made it pretty obvious how the regulator is bad since it rocks back and forth when I do that.

Hi, I had the same issue a couple of days ago. I tried doing what you said but the window won't budge. Its still stuck completely open. When I press the window switch down it still clicks so sounds like the motor is still working but there's no click when you press up. I've ordered a new regulator and motor but could really do with closing the window until it arrives. Thanks

My right front window went down all the way then I could see the rear part stuck in the groove or molding that it rides in, I took the panel off and from the bottom freed it and all works. I also had an electrical problem where i could not activate anything on that door from the drivers side and once I disconnected the switch module with 3 connectors, cleaned it, reconnected, it worked first time since I owned this X5.

You don't need to chi that. Just put a screw driver in back of window,it wedges forward enough then goes up.

Its the craftsmanship engineering flaw common on USA made X5's. when the window go's all the way down, then you put it up it gets caught on something. the remedy is do not put it down all the way, stop an inch or 2 short. No problem with window regulators or motors.

Hello quick question I replaced my driver door regulator last night and it seems like it lost the locking memory I can no longer lock and unlock all the doors inserting the key in to the locking cylinder because my fob isn't working another thing is that when I open the driver door the interior lights won't come on but when I open all the other doors the interior lights come on. I'm thinking that it lost the locking programming is there a procedure to get this working again?

Happened to my 2003 X5 today. Just when we were heading out of town! Thanks for your tip. I now have electrical taped needle-nosed pliers in my car just in case.

Gorilla tape and a ruler are less messy. adhere an inch or two to the end of the ruler and pull the roll back, sticky side out along the ruler. Slide it in the door so it sticks to the window and Push the ruler until the tape is stuck to the window. Remove the ruler. Then press the button and pull. (video pending~)

When my window got stuck, I pulled the key out of the fob, stuck it on the drivers door, slightly turn and held the key, itll close all the windows. If you can't get the windows to go down, press and hold the unlock button on the key fob

Your method worked but squeezing the long nose pliers inbetween the rubber gaskets requires careful effort when your dealing with a glass window.

Doesn't need a new regulator. It needs the cheap $10 clips replaced. Plenty of youtube videos showing you how to do it.

Its hitting the side by the back of the door. I put a screwdriver in and push the window forward and it goes up. It was actually the plastic clip that broke.

You don't need to fyi that. Just put a screw driver in back allot of window, it aligns it frwd and window will go up,

Thanks for the simple video but I tried this and even with the electrical tape i really damaged the glass and tinting on my e53. I’ve got an Australian 2006 and the gap was really tight.
