Boarding the Norwegian Prima! THIS Shocked Me!

It’s cruise time again! This time I am cruising on the Norwegian Prima on a North Europe cruise from Southampton! Day 1 is for exploring the ship and getting excited about what’s to come! Enjoy!

On the cruise I was on in April. NCL Epic. There were over 300 solo cruisers. And each night between 5 and 7 they just propped open the solo lounge doors for anyone solo even if they were not in a solo cabin.

300 solo, wow! That's amazing, so many. I was denied access to the studios lounge! So we just had the solo meeting everyday at 5!

I read online that they were having trouble with teenagers using the solo lounge and just hanging out in there and being rowdy. So maybe they were trying to crack down on access

@@chocolatemint9225yes, on the NCL escape there were times that teenagers were hanging out in the lounge, eating all the food and being rowdy.

Omg you will love the NCL Prima! Our first cruise where Luis and I started our channel!! Enjoy buddy!! Don’t forget to book reservations for Los Lobos and Food Republic!! Make sure you are hungry!! We were on her inaugural sailing out of NYC to Bermuda!

Thank you for these videos. We will be on the Prima in February out of Galveston and visiting Costa Maya, Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel. I am really looking forward to the cruise and your videos are helping us find our way around the ship before we board it!

The Prima is great, Lorraine! I enjoyed the ship very much. It's not a mega ship but I like the fact that it wasn't huge. Many options for dining and many cool areas of the ship! Your itinerary sounds amazing!

@@TravelWithBen121 We like the smaller ships better as well. We have sailed on the NCL Epic, which was too big, although it was only at half capacity, which was good (San Juan to New York). We sailed twice on the NCL Jewel, which we absolutely LOVED (round trip Panama and San Diego to Vancouver). When you were on the Getaway last year, we were on the NCL Bliss out of Los Angeles. We are now Platinum members with NCL, so we get a lot of extra perks. After the Bliss, we tried Virgin Voyages round trip San Juan on the Valiant Lady. We LOVED the experience. Virgin allowed us to match our status from NCL and we get a ton of extra perks now with Virgin, so that is great! Our next cruise after the NCL Prima will be on the VV Brilliant Lady from Los Angeles to Vancouver. We have enjoyed all of our cruises, but we definitely have our favorites.

@@lorrainehowes7231 I agree, Lorraine! The bigger ships can definitely be too big! I think the smaller ships also go to the more unique ports because the big ships wouldn’t fit! Sounds like you’ve got some amazing cruises coming up! I can’t wait to book my next one 😁

Omg! Ben! Yes those hidden charges are insane! I upgraded to their sea as plus but got their premium WiFi package with it which gave me 2 additional speciality dining, unlimited Starbucks, unlimited drinks and free bottle water with all gratuity included. I only drink on my vacations, but needed my Starbucks to function. I paid $306 dollars for the upgrade. I did it before sailing though. Others told me they had the basic drinking package but had to pay $20 dollars a day gratuity! 🤯 And luckily my phone carrier texted me to remind me to put my phone on airplane mode. When they helped me to activate my WiFi they didn’t tell me to do that! lol I made some calls in port in NYC but called my phone carrier when I returned to make sure I didn’t get charge, which I didn’t. They said if you don’t put airplane mode on, NCL charges you $6.99 a minute for incoming (even if you don’t answer) and outgoing calls. So I think I definitely lucked out! But they got me with cruise credits! I bought a bunch. Smh!

You’re totally right, Flo! Every small thing could be an extra charge so you need to be very careful and make sure you know the rules and what you’re signing up for! Especially wifi because you won’t know you’re being charged until you get home! The drinks package is different for everyone because it depends how much you drink to see if it’s worth it or not. If you have 2 drinks every night then it’s not worth having a package! If you’re ever not sure about charges or what the rules are, just ask a million questions until you understand because it’s not something you can leave up to chance!

HEY, Ben ! Beautiful ship, beautiful ocean ! I once took the Norwegian cruise boat to Mexico. The food was excellent. We went to several towns where the police patrolled on jeeps with machine guns! Whoooyaaa!

Yes, Angie! I went to the solo meet up almost everyday and I met many great people. I went to shows, parties, dinner with people other solos. I’ll make a video soon about tips for solo cruisers 😁 enjoy your cruise!

I was just on the NCL Escape and solo travelers that were not staying in a studio cabin did have access to the studio lounge. Is it possible that the person you spoke with at Customer Service was not familiar with the solo program and provided you incorrect information or is it possible that the solo program is operated differently on each Norwegian ship? It just seems that Norwegian would like for Solo passengers to have a consistent experience across the fleet. In any event, you were still able to go to the solo meet up, which from the video looks like it was in a bar, or some sort of open venue.

Could be human error or it could be a different system, but no problem 😊 the solo meetings happened at a few different locations around the ship. Comedy club, a few different bars. It was always in the schedule!
