I agree. He always fascinated me with his skills and look but yrs later he speaks I'll of no one. It's a great throwback. I remember begging my local record store to sell me their pre release 1 album. I got heaps like 2 wks before release. But W the first record he turned it over saw Vinnie and said what the hell are you doing. Lmao. So yeah exciting times for a young teenager. Peace

You got that right. That VVI first record is a legendary classic masterpiece 10/10 cd period...> Go buy the original Chrysalis cd version... it's rarer, prettier, worth more, and most importantly it has the original abrasive "fuck you attitude" guitar edge (that Vinnie approves) to it that was toned down on the remastered ones that came later...>

History repeats itself. Fleischman was fired from JOURNEY simply because he refused to drop his personal manager and take on band manager Herb Herbert. His admirable but misplaced loyalty in his own management cost him the gig for VVI, as he refused to be strong-armed into signing with Vinnie's manager George Sewitt, but in hindsight that was a smart business move, as Sewitt was later found of questionable business practices when he managed Ace Frehley, & caused hell for the KI$$ corp during their '96-97 reunion tour. Bobby Rock was never given the right gig, he went from Invasion to Nitro, who were like a low-rent version of VVI, only more ridiculously over the top but with poorer production values. Vinnie was always in it for himself from day one, sidelining songwriter Adam Mitchell for his own agenda with KI$$, so no surprise he used the songs he co-wrote with Fleischman to get his own solo deal.

@@MartinAlvarado perhaps, he was most certainly better accomodated with tour provisions for NELSON (George Lynch has shared several anecdotes of his experiences touring with the Nelson brothers). But as Rock was only a hired gun & not a songwriter, he would have only received a share of performing royalties, and to be honest that group's popularity like many others was largely inflated by constant MTV presence, which didn't always translate to album sales. NELSON were an overnight sensation but forgotten just as quickly. And from a sonic perspective they didn't do his drum sound any huge favours, which used all the typical gated-reverb & processed effects, the best the Fairlight® had to offer haha If anything going from VVI to NITRO to NELSON only did more damage to his musical credibility, because none of those bands could be taken seriously. Rock is a decent drummer but wasn't given the right light to shine.

I hosted Bobby for a drum clinic when he first started endorsing Peavey drums and he had that huge renaissance kit. He was a super nice guy and absolutely ripped. He only ate nuts and berries and actually worked out in our parking lot with a full portable gym that he traveled with in his Winnebago before the clinic. He was living a total health conscious life and he had energy to burn. Great clinic, great memories!

@@fmbighair That’s true! I didn’t even think of that but you’re right. I was surprised when he declined dinner after the clinic which is what we usually did with all the artists we hosted. He told us that he traveled with his own food and didn’t eat or drink anything that came from an animal. No meats, cheese, milk or anything. I would call him an extreme vegetarian but I couldn’t argue with his results. He was absolutely shredded. I wonder if he still lives that lifestyle now. If I had to guess, I’d say yes because he was so dedicated to it.

@@brockpinson949 Bobby must’ve hit my area after you saw him because after my clinic, my Peavey rep contacted me and told me that right after my clinic, Bobby was traveling to his next one and totaled his Winnebago and the wreck destroyed that renaissance kit. He said they were driving at night and rolled off the edge of a small cliff. Nobody was injured other than a few bumps and bruises but the vehicle and trailer with all the drums in it were destroyed. Bobby wasn’t driving but I assume his tech was and fell asleep at the wheel. That’s just my assumption of why they rolled off that cliff. I never got confirmation of exactly what happened.

Bobby is amazing. He was doing drum clinics when he began using Peavey drums, and he inspired me to go vegetarian... Vegan is more of a political stance, ratger than dietary. Sorry, I'm not having up my leather!! But, after I detoxed, there was a strange event that happened, my transitioned to what I call 32 hour days. I could not sleep and function on a normal 24 hour schedule. I gained an extra 8 hours of waking time, and I asked Bobby, and he has experienced the same thing. I asked how he dealt with it, and he told me to rejoice because I was able to get in an extra 8 hours of activity per "day". 😂 The downside of it, was I was driving my family crazy because I was wired. Eventually I went to a Keto diet and dropped the vegetarian thing because it was turning my family life becsuse I was wide awake and roaming around the house while the rest of the family was trying to sleep. It was definitely an odd experience, but he was definitely very encouraging in this secret discovery that came with juicing, smoothies. And vegetarianism. If I had not been living with my family. It may have been doable.

The drums were the least of the problems with Vinnie's records, the big one being that the songs are forgettable and amateurish, most are actually annoying.
