One of the refreshing aspects of this series is that it's still a Shonen but its protagonist is in his thirties, finally a bit of representation of Today's OG Fans of Shonen manga/anime. 😂😂

I forgot how badass normal Kafka was before becoming a kaiju. He saved Leno twice and was able to outrun the yoju-class for several minutes before it eventually caught him, even time for Leno to call it in and get back to him. He doesn't even have any special gear like the Defense Force uses.

Yeah I’m kinda disappointed he just gets a random boost out of nowhere. Much prefer his original self where he had heart and persevered despite his flaws. Like Mumen rider in OPM

@@Oakland510 Idk if you mean later in the manga, but if you just mean in the first episode, the "boost" of him turning into a Kaiju is the entire premise of the series. His whole dream was to join the Defense Force, but he CAN'T, because he's too weak (or whatever else failing the test includes). So this boost, along with the age limit increasing, is what gives him the opportunity to live out his dream. I find it hard to belive he's just going to turn into an entirely different person, one that doesn't have heart or care for his friends, simply because of the Kaiju boost. It's even shown this episode that he remained in control of himself and was the same person, even after the Kaiju jumped into his body. It might have an affect on his personality later, if he and the Kaiju fight for control of his body, but at heart I think he will most likely remain the same he has always been

@@Oakland510 I get what you're saying, but also I'm pretty sure Deku didn't do a 180 or anything when he got ofa. And personally I don't believe this mc will either. As I said, the power of a Kaiju being given to him is the entire point of the show. Not like it's some random buff halfway through the show to patch up some plot holes, it's the entire plot. While getting a free buff is done a lot, that doesn't have to mean the show isn't going to do anything with it, or have him just be op for no reason. Likely it'll just give him the buff he needs as a regular dude to get into the Defense Force, and he'll still be on par or lower than the other team members at the start. After all, Division 3 is shown to kill massive Kaiju with no problem or any fatalities. So he might very well have to train the ability or fight with the Kaiju inside him to make any use of it to start. No point in assuming it'll be garbage or have no development right off the bat.

@@Oakland510sadly yeah. I got quite a bit further than that but I stopped at chapter 90. Might just be a manga issue, but the pacing is horrible and it’s gotten so predictable now. Very mid series which sucks because the start was definitely exciting.

Well, this anime started out interesting... Then (spoiler) The MC gains the power of kaiju to fight kaiju. I'm sorry but this is so overdone. It's cool that they actually have to do something with the remains instead of them just melting, evaporating, or turning to dust. There is so much potential to explore there. Is any part of it safe to consume? Does it have parasites, bacteria, or viruses that are hazardous to humans? So many possibilities. I might watch a few episodes, but if this is just Attack on Titan with monsters and lasers....

But only these kinds of Manga works in jump though. It's not like the authors don't try for something new or unique, but most of the time those Mangas don't get much traction and get canceled/axed. Japanese Manga audience are weird, if you try something unique nowadays most of the time they'll just vote against your. It's a lose situation for authors.

@@neoparmar2169Exactly, that's a good point to bring up because it's about what survives jump long enough as a manga for the Japanese market primarily, then if it's successful enough from there it has a chance for an anime adaptation.

@@neoparmar2169 I really do feel bad for anyone trying to create new content these days. There's just so much out there, it's hard to do something that hasn't already been done. I personally limit myself to anime, so I'm not familiar with the manga side of the industry.

@@malachimontanez8796 Are you familiar enough with AoT to compare the two? How different/similar are they? It might be hard to believe, but I'm one of those rare individuals that did not like AoT. So if this is too similar, I probably won't like this one either. Too be clear, I'm not talking specifics. Clearly the details will be different. I'm more concerned with things like character archetypes and overall plotline. Hope that makes sense.
