Lorne and Dan used to come out here to Midland, Texas to host a telethon about the time this was filmed. Dan did an oil deal with my dad around the same time. It was a thrill for a ten year old fan to see him wave and say hi to my dad downtown when I was riding with him one day. Dan (Hoss) was wearing his signature ten gallon hat too!

Oh how l love BONANZA and the "Ponderosa". If l could live on a ranch like that in a house like that l would feel like l was in paradise. Watching that show on Sunday nights after WALT DISNEY as a child brings back good memories. Sadly we are/were often forced to say GOODBYE to some great actors who puffed away their lives.

@@thewind1399 That's true! But there were other actors who didn't smoke. You have to wonder and weigh ⚖ whether or not it's worth the sacrifice: your life or the accolades of society.

Times have changed so much. Even people who smoke today would not smoke during an interview. I can't really make out what they are saying because its garbled but the smoking is definitely an unpleasant distraction. And yes - all 4 of them smoked. Many, many - if not most celebrities did back then. 🙄😊

@@billycampbell854 I started working in a bank in 1991 and we tellers were allowed to smoke, as was everyone else in the branch. That didn't last long, though. I can't remember what year it was, but the new policy was no smoking in the building.

Then you obviously weren’t alive in 1966. Cigarette advertising was still legal and smoking was ubiquitous. Watch any talk show from that era.

For those whining about the smoking i guess you're all millennials because anyone over 40 knows that most people smoked back then and like it or not it was their right so you might wanna get over it or don't watch old movies and tv shows.

What a smoke the Bonanza set must have been, I can't stand people who smoke, and I'm going to say something that goes against my values and my fight against tobacco, but I would gladly have endured the smell in order to know them personally.
