Bone cluster! New Zealand fossil road trip day 3 - Invercargill to Oamaru incl Dunedin museum

In the morning I did a dinosaur dig with Jake and then drove along the backroads to Oamaru to see what I could find there. Along the way, I stopped at the Dunedin Museum to have a look at their collection which had a ~7m plesiosaur in it.

@@MamlamboFossils Yeah... I remember being brutalised by sand fleas as a kid in Malaysia... had an allergic reaction to them... had to go to a clinic and was bed ridden for a couple of days! Ouch!

What a wonderful make a wish, I am sure he will treasure the memory. Love the photographic shots of the seagulls bathing in fresh running water and the morning mist.

Al Mannering and I found that Plesiosaur at Shag Point in March.1983.3rd Plessie found in one incredible year by us.

What a wonderful video! And what à wonderful surprise that was for that little boy! I can only imagine the joy and wonderment he felt, digging up those wonderful fossils! That was amazing! And so wonderful of you! And that bone block was interesting! Wouldn't that be something if it was marlin or billfish! And that museum was awesome! That one moa was huge! What an amazing roadtrip! You're so fortunate to live in such a small country with so many finds to be found, and only a few hours away! I'd be out there every day if I was New Zealander. Sadly I'm eastern Canada/Canadian Shield and any prehistoric is like a 6 day drive away lol lots of olddd rock... but nothing exciting to be found sadly.
