These are def underrated I've been skating these for a while now. Perfect balance between dragons and a regular 99 wheel

I have been riding these wheels for the past 4 months, almost daily. Most of the time at a skatepark, where this wheel performs excellent for me. I personally dig a bit of a softer wheel, these are just perfect. Also they are fast, which is not usual for a soft wheel. The dragons were a bit too soft for outside skating, but for indoor parks they were a game changer. Watching others slipping around the floor while you are good to go…

There is someing else you could talk about that everyone would like to hear. How is x97a compare to Spitfire 97a? Slimeballs 97a and 95a next please.

the 97A spitfire feel much more like a traditional hard wheel. a bit softer, yes, but in terms of vibration, sound and slide on smooth ground, the spitfires are closer to their 99 and 101 version than to any of the dragon or X formula wheels. on rough ground the X formula and dragons also do slide better than the 97A spitfires. the X formula do have more bounce though and degrade a bit faster, the spitfires are also noticeably louder. I'd say the X formula are perfect if you want to skate street, no matter how crusty the spot and also commute with the same wheels. 97A spitfire are fine for that too, but I dont like em much for getting around, because they are still loud and give me a good foot massage. I do prefer the spitfire for bombing hills and smoother spots or skateparks though. hill bombing mainly because they grip more on rough ground and they also last longer.

With The X-formula the sound of the harder wheel is back, but it is still a quiet wheel.

I bought my x formula 54mm v6 set last november and found it to be quite harsh on asphalt. But now with summer heat going crazy, I find they are much more forgiving in the street! Lol I think I may have to switch between these and the dragons depending on the season. I'm a bit curious about the mini cubic 97a dragons they are releasing with Andy Anderson behind the production, though. Might be too heavy for my liking, but it could work on a transition board.

Just noticed they released a X99, maybe they might be the perfect fit for skateparks?

probably, but they'll be less ideal on rough streets so its the usual tradeoff. personally I advise using dragons or X formula for streetskating, they are amazing for that. and in really smooth parks, use traditional hard wheels, like F4's. the aforementioned do work there reasonably well, but hard wheels are still superior in the skatepark.

@@diddymelone2265 yep nothing beats landing a lil sketch...but when you master speed=style....the solid wheel setup or wide patch setup....lets you stomp/roll away regardless...and its just something you grow into...and NEVER compromise...esp if you like chaining lines/tricks at your local be it flow/pyramid or transition. Worst part is every time you get/try new wheels you have to get big balls/reds etc a budget/bearing setup...so you can swap back to your OG wheels/bearings after a couple GNARLY slams XD to save your session.

I need to try these I’ve been riding dragons since they came out. I like dragons for street but not smooth parks. I skate spfs on smooth parks with no complaints. I’m not a spitfire guy just because their 101a are slick imo. Bones SPF 103a are my preference for slick parks. But I skate different setups for street vs park.

I have a few sets of 97a Creature wheels, and it's a nice durometer. They're fast in the skatepark and don't make you miserable in the street. X-formulas sound like a good compromise.

Dragons and X-formulas are the exact same formula. The X's just have options for slightly harder durometers, so they shouldn't feel too much different

They feel totaly different as for the nano cubics, have both in 54mm. 93a is way softer, way smoother and more quiet. The 97 are much faster on smoother surfaces and already start barking on speedchecks 🎉

I have Dragon wheels but I don't have the X97, I heard the X97 slides less than Dragons, is this true? Or do you need to break the X97 in first before they silde more than the Dragons on both rough and smooth surfaces? And which slides longer and farther on both rough and smooth surfaces, Dragons or X97?
@billjohn2707
@billjohn2707 Жыл бұрын
I use both right now the x97 is way more of a normal wheel and basically seems perfect, does slide more. The dragon wheel is a little slower and kinda weird like slightly sticky and gummy but I like how it cushions landings. By the way Powell makes bones and mini logo wheels

Anyone have the bearings come out when doing slappies? Not come out completely but the bearing locks up with the axle nut.

Hi do u use all washers and spacers as it supposed to be installed? If u use it proper. U doesn't have many spare place to have issues. I'm use 3-4 thick washers with spacer per axle to prevent all fails/breakings with bearings, wheels and truck axles.

had interest but these lost me when you said theyll be out performed by a more traditional wheel at keeping speed/rhythm in a bowl/flow transition setting. Though id like something more grippy/less punishing on slicker surfaces...i guess ill circle back to 97a F4 radial full/conical full options. I dont really care for bones purely subjective....i cater to a classic 99a "chirp/squeal" when doing slides on the top deck/lip and on most surfaces. Bones with their high pitched squealing isnt something im really into I also dont really skate F4 much either bc of how much im used to standard 99a feel on powerslides/landing into a lip etc. Mostly ride SFW 99a or Satori Conical full shape. Theres just too many "imo" hype/tech inspired wheels out there these days definitely worth considering in a quiver/side setup...just hard for me to consider wasting 40$+ to "try something out" with hopes it can actually be a GO-TO/ideal wheel for speed/grip in the park. With a wide enough patch to ride over bolts often/turn/control at high speeds with minimal effort. TBH basing this off your review and others opinions...As someone over 30. These wheels strike me as something more IDEAL to an older Street skater looking to skate as fast as they used to with an aspect of "mitigation" to the vibration/control they would have otherwise lost due to leg/ankle injuries not being able to skate daily due to life/job etc...and knee injuries. I bet these extend the duration of a Session for someone like me or if i was skating with a strained leg/ankle compared to a traditional wheel...in a more or less street setting or cutty spot/ditch. Otherwise Park wheels are always going to come down to grip/speed/comfort and confidence inducing rides/skates which is more subjective to each skaters style/speed/preferences. Including trucks/shape/concave. Plus theres nothing worse than hitting a ditch bank to ledge...that you have to JAM into and get a good setup/rhythem...if your wheels are soft and stick on the slide...and mess up your pop out...WAX becomes an element of assistance and a deal with the devil if your wheels get waxy....it also ruins the speed/setup potential. Or you can easily get bucked carving to set up etc...IDK slams like that those impromptu epic slams or landing into the lip with your board all the sudden wanting to bite or shoot sideways as you slam into the flat bottom makes you focus boards/never ride wheels/blends pretty fast regardless of other ppls experience/accounts XD

How are the x99 wheels going for u?
@ulpsb
@ulpsb 11 ай бұрын
@itzEnJ alot better. For me, I was looking for the wheel to not stick when I do skate at the park with metal ledges and rails. Especially on pinch grinds, the dragons and x97 still grabbed. The x99s are alot better in that aspect which was big deal for me. Obv not as much cruiser as 93dragon but they still feel softer and smoother than a standard 99a.
