“If you just keep punching a child, it will just sit in the corner and be sad” That is actually very good info! You must let your bonsai trees gain some momentum to keep the tree going in the right direction. Continually pinching/pruning just to keep a “nice shape” makes a tree presentable all the time, but after years of doing this without letting your tree gain vigor/momentum is actually detrimental to the long term health of the tree. Is jewelry acceptable? Is a cold compress or a chunk of cold steak allowed afterwards? So many questions. Is it possible to make use of a small amount of water retaining substances in the pot to avoid complete drying out of the soil, such as sodium polyacrylate, vermaculite, etc? I want to make a small bonsai but I dread the thought that I might kill it on accident if I just leave for a day or two and come back to find it is completely dried out.
